Good morning, David. Happy New Year to you and all the very best for 2024. Well spotted with the cooking, Mo is not at all keen for me to be in the kitchen for anything other than washing up. Fair to say, she doesnt rate my limited repertoire very highly :) The French Toast she served up for breakfast in the tent was infinitely superior to that of our local 'high end cafe'. She's got talent. ATB, Dave and Mo
Another fantastic video Dave (and Mo!) - stunning scenery over the loch, I can see why you shortened the trip though.. nothing worse than cold wet slush, but wait did I hear rumours of a new bike? 🙂 - ATB Tom
Good morning, Tom. Glad you enjoyed the vid. The weather certainly didn't live up to the forecast. We should have been enjoying a winter wonderland but instead the area was quickly turning into an ice bath. It did give me an excuse to head down the road a wee bit earlier though, and take the opportunity to order a new bike. I've decided to add another fat bike to the collection.😊I think you'll approve of the new bike and I'll reveal more about it soon.... Hope you guys had a great Christmas. Best wishes for the New Year. ATB, Dave and Mo
Great video, shame about the weather, last years camp was so much better for you both in the snow. I don't blame you bailing in favour of a visit to the bike shops. I'm guessing an Ice Cream Truck may feature in future episodes 🤫. Don't worry about searching for other channels, I have looked at many and they dont come up to your high standards. I do hope you and Mo and family have a Happy New Years, here's to a Great 2024. Best Wishes Big Dave Scotland 😁🥳
Thanks for the lovely comments, Big Dave. I think you could be right about a new and improved fat bike. An ICT would fit the bill admirably. Hope you guys have a great Hogmanay and we wish all the very best for 2024. Dave and Mo
Thanks Dave and Mo for entertaining me all year we love watching your video's, many of these places you visit are places I frequented myself, I wish you both the best for 2024 from the Macfarlane Family. PS you give me the heebie jeebies when you go out on that canoe because if you tip over and fall in you will not last minutes in that freezing water, can you not just paddle round the edge close to the bank at your age. 😂
Good morning, and Happy New Year to the Macfarlane Family. All the very best for 2024. Good point about winter paddling in icy waters. I do try to take care of myself though, although I've yet to make any concessions for age 😀I'll make it one of my resolutions to break out the drysuit a bit more next year 👍.ATB, Dave and Mo
Different video with things not going as planned weather-wise. Wonderful to see as always and whilst snow would have been the icing on the cake the storm was good to experience in your company. So Happy new bike and Happy New Year to you both 🎉
Thanks Jacqueline, Happy New Year to you too. I'm hoping the new bike will enjoy its first winter adventure this year, possibly early February if the weather allows. ATB, Dave and Mo
A shame about the weather, but you made the best of it as usual . The food looked great and the tent has got to be the best for the long Scottish winter nights. The journey home via two bike shops was a great option and you were gauranteed not to find an ice cream truck, but you never know 😂 I wish you Both a happy and peaceful new year. Best Wishes Big Dave (using a temporay user name because of IT issues)
Good morning, Big Dave. Happy to New Year to you and all the very best for 2024. We love the teepee-wood stove combo'. Getting it dry afterwards (and before stashing it away in the gear room) is a challenge, but I've got it down to a fine art after all these years. Moving on to chat about bikes, specifically, the Ice Cream Truck; I'm now convinced you can read my mind 😀 Or perhaps we are just kindred spirits. The ICT would indeed be a worthy addition to my stable We'll just have to see what the new year brings :) ATB, Dave and Mo
I watched this episode last night and really felt for you both. When you consider the plentiful times of perfect snow conditions for camping you've probably both experienced and no recordings made. On the plus side, such an excellent tip on corregating the wintry stuff, never heard of that before? Also and quite amusingly, your breakfast on day two, reminded me my bacon was still in the freezer, so I'm really pleased I tuned in when I did. Have a great New Year and 2024. Cheers again!
Hello Andrew, yes indeed, this was a challenging one. The forecast was for a perfect storm of snow and wind, followed by a quiet spell of weather. Armed with 6 cameras, including the drone, we were convinced we’d be able to record some spectacular footage. Alas, Mother Nature had other plans. Anyhow, we enjoyed a great wee adventure and broke our previous record time for breaking camp. I also made the decision to add a new bike to my stable and will have a new tool for my 2024 adventuring. So, all in all, it worked out quite well. And, we prompted you get the bacon, which is a pleasing and unexpected win. Hope you have a great New Year. I’m imagining you sitting by the fire, perhaps dram in hand, enjoying the last remaining moments of the year. Stay safe and thanks for supporting our wee channel. Dave and Mo
It's good to see you got your usual spot Dave , tricky drive on those road conditions. Knowing where your spot is , and roughly the area you live , it's a fair trek for you . Happy New year to you and Mo.
Happy New Year, John. Yes, it's a fair trek up the road. We opted to break the journey with an overnight stop in Inverness. It was bitterly cold when we hiked into the city for some dinner, and it certainly looking promising for a decent fall of snow. At some point in the night milder weather rolled in the from the south. Our early morning drive up the glen was tricky, with torrents of rainwater flowing over snow and ice and with a good few trees partially blocking the road. We only saw one other vehicle in the glen. ATB, Dave and Mo
