Good morning Andrew, and thank you for the kind comments. The calm conditions needed for the wee boat trip look likely to settle in for a few days next week. It'll be good to get out with the cameras again. ATB, Dave
Great to see how things are with you Dave, the gear room is looking grand as I would expect with you. I'm looking forward to the trip; however knowing how windy it has been the last week, I suspect you might have delayed or cancelled as the wee inflatable is involved. The trip to the far east sound interesting and I trust you plans for that go well. D
Hi David, great to hear from you. There are still a few things to do in the gear room but overall I'm pretty satisfied with progress. I'm considering joining the two new benches together, creating a work surface the full width of the entrance. I'd use some folding hinges to allow access and egress. I've been itching to get away on the bike n boat trip but as you've guessed, the wind has scuppered the plans. Monday looks possible though! ATB, Dave
Thanks, Martin. Looks like the weather might be overcast and a bit drizzly. I just need these winds to calm down a bit to allow me onto the water. Hoping to get away on Monday. ATB, Dave
I wonder how many years of equipment - and what experiences they could tell - you have in that gear room Dave. Great to see and hear about upcoming trips.
Hi Alex, good to hear from you. Yes, the equipment stashed away in the gear room holds many fond memories and has taught me many lessons, some salutary and some sublime. At times, I hanker after another big expedition and often wonder if I still have what it takes to tough it for months on end. Deep inside, I actually know the answer, but seem reluctant to accept it. Of course, I am grateful to be able to enjoy the modest adventures and am looking forward to getting away next week. ATB, Dave
@@daveoutdoorsscotland2854 I recall a previous video where you gave us a bit of a tour or a packing insight into a gear room which was your attic at the time, really came across that the kit have stories to tell. A last hurrah of an expedition perhaps. Your idea of a modest adventure is on a different scale. Atb
@@alexdachs9884 Hi Alex, the attic gear room room was in the old house. It was a great place to while away an evening or wet day. I'm very fortunate to have a garage in the new house, which has become my 'new' gear room. Kitting it out is a work in progress. I have some ideas and additions for storage solutions for the small bits and pieces of kit. These wee bits of gear are often integral to the success of an outdoor adventure but can prove elusive when packing. I'm just back from a mini adventure and hope to get a video uploaded soon, perhaps by the weekend. A last hurrah sounds like a great plan. ATB, Dave
Good morning Robert. I'm just back from the 'bike and boat' trip and plan to start editing today. Hope to have the vid up by the weekend. The gear room is now less organised; full of wet gear, waiting to be cleaned and put away....I'll get onto that after the editing :) ATB, Dave
