Program Notes
In the book "Paddle Your Own Canoe", comedian Nick Offerman inspired the concept for this concert:
"Basically, this book boils down to: how an average human like myself, relying solely on warped individuality and a little elbow grease, can actually rise from a simple life of relative poverty to one of prosperity, measured in American dollars and Italian band saws, sure, but more importantly, laughter, wood shavings, and kisses. The key lies in finding the delicious flavorings in one’s life, no matter how fancy your blue jeans may or may not be. The notions herein are meant to inform, inspire, and engender mirth. Enjoy, please, and thank-you."
Something about that phrase caught my attention and it's been sitting in my file of concert ideas (yes, it's a real thing) for several years. When I realized that this summer's concert marks 10 years since the first NNC project I finally knew the time was right. Those final 2 sentences exemplify what I hope to achieve with NNC and why I think it's such a special organization. While choral singing is the art form that brings us together, it’s the experience of being together, working toward a common goal and the relationships that form along the way that really matter.
Our mantra, “An Experience Worth Sharing” is a shorthand way to express that core value and our summer youth camp is a natural extension of NNC’s mission. All week I’ve had the immense pleasure of watching the campers engage with our exceptional team of volunteers and can’t wait for you to hear what they’ve prepared. Without these volunteers and sponsors our summer camp would not be possible. If you get the chance, please express your appreciation:

NNC’s first 10 years has been an amazing ride. We’ve produced 36 concerts, performed at 2 state choral conventions, run 4 youth choir camps, and raised thousands of dollars for local and national charities. All of this has been accomplished exclusively through the volunteer efforts and generosity of our singers, leadership and audience. Thank you all so much for making No-Name Chorale an experience worth sharing, and I hope you’ll join us to make the next decade even better!
