This is my first time watching an American Watercolor Society video and my first time seeing John Salminen give a demo. He is obviously a fantastic artist, but he’s funny too and very generous by sharing his techniques. He reminds me of Lauren McCracken, whom I adore, the way he shares information about his specific tools, brands, and techniques. I have used the Bob Ross wispy dry brush technique on clouds using oil paints and it really does work. Now I’m definitely going to have to try it with watercolor. I started painting in oils and it really is easier than watercolor for the very reason John mentioned; if you mess it up, you can just paint over it. You really do have to plan ahead for watercolor. I love that he reminds us to vary the colors as we paint. I’m subscribing.
