This is the BMW 128Ti, it sits within the 1 Series line up bang in the middle of the core models such as the 118i & 120d and the top of the range M135i xDrive. The 128Ti aims to go after the VW Golf GTI, with an uncharacteristic front wheel drive set up it is different to most performance orientated BMW. It has been with us now for around 2 years however we think that it has very much been a little bit unappreciated and forgotten about. We do think though that it is a bit of a hidden gem in the line up.

I just swapped out my 115i to the 128Ti and it’s incredible. Love reading the comments here too, all of us driving round with a massive grin!! The sound and gear change is spectacular. Even the change down with little rev just makes me smile so much.

I just bought one 4 weeks ago, 23 plate, and it's awesome. I love it. Stick in sport and push over to sport, plus I smile from ear to ear so much fun. The wife will use it for work and just drive in comfort, and it drives like an everyday car. Superb little car

Love mine had it 2 months and no regrets. Put it in sport and grin from ear to ear as it takes off. I tried a Golf GTI but couldn’t get past the slide/touch controls. Plus there are very few about, so quite rare compared to its rivals. Great review 👍

Agree with everything you say bought my 128ti 2020 Nov in White,Just ordered new car deliver May.Seen news that facelift 1 series will be out beginning of this Year,been on to local dealer he tells me that nothing has been disclosed to them as yet ,mmm.

Have mine for over 2 years now, same spec as the video but with the leather seats. What an exceptional car, I still absolutely love driving it, fantastic interior and a really mature and relaxed driving experience when you need it on the daily commute or long journeys. Couldn't recommend it more highly :)

Matt, yes it is the hidden gem! The jewel in the 1 Series crown. Probably the best 1 Series. Certainly capable of beating a GTi, S3 and A Class. Just does every thing. Correct me if wrong, i have read best on standard 18 inch wheels? And for me spec without the red 'bits' [De-red, if you will.] Stealth! Thank you for bringing the Ti back to the channel's attention.

I went from A45 amg to new 128ti, purely because a white one looked great and my AMG was 7 years old. It’s not as quick but a fantastic car to drive. 😊

Picked mine up 1st March 24. Skyscraper grey, propack, sunroof. Its mint, refined, quick and feels very premium and no red bits !

Love mine, however if you’re testing make sure you check the tyre pressures. The BMW ones are way too high and cause a bit of torque steer so be careful of that.

7:35.. this 128ti comes with ZF or Aisin gearbox? Btw, I’m from Malaysia and where I live, BMW didn’t bring in this model. So sad. Have seen M135xdrive on sale from grey importers.

Not zf gearbox mate. I've had mine two years and love it. I had the m140i before this. This is much more fun but no where near as quick. Still love it

I thought the ZF gear box was only on the rear wheel drive autos. Isn’t this another manufacturer on this model?. I had the 320i auto and the gear charges on that compared to the 128ti were a lot slicker. In my opinion

@@billionbear Hi Arran I’ll be honest i didn’t want to pay for the additional Road tax that’s why i purchased the 128ti. With the options I have on my 128ti the cost is now over the £40000 threshold where you’ll pay the extra tax. The seats aren’t the best in the 128ti the 135i seats are far better, overall it just look’s better. If your buying new see what deals they offer as this model is due a LCI facelift. You may find it’s as cheap to buy the M135i and you’re more likely to get the options you choose.

@Arran Stoy, Hi Arran, I own a 128ti and it absolutely is a fun car to drive. Comfort for cruising, Sport for pleasure, hot hatch moments. The 2022 M135i xdrive has been updated, partly because of the good handling performance the 128ti has. It was just more fun than a M135i xdrive. Have’t driven a 2022 M135i xdrive, but would recommend because it should handle better than the pre-facelift.

Just test drove this today, loved everything about it but found the suspension really stiff. Even going over speed bumps super slow 5mph felt really uncomfortable.

S3 is in same bracket as the m135i, because of the 4 wheel drive and power, this is front wheel drive and less power that's why it is more like a golf gti, not sure if audi have their version of that.

Obviously not, this model has an Aisin gearbox which isn't as good as the ZF fitted to RWD models.

No, they're sh1t box death traps and they're ancient tech now, plus they look like an old rollerskate, front is far too long for that stupid 3L engine which belongs in the true M models not in a 1 series daily which is also why there's no back seat space...

I love my M140i, great charismatic engine, amazing ZF gearbox and RWD fun. I don't mind the new M135i looks wise but it just isn't the same is it. BMW have created a Golf R clone, complete with souless 4 cylinder engine.

@@simonh870 absolutely I got mine mapped stage 2+ with Downpipe and high pressure fuel pump running 485bhp for a 1 series best bang for buck, mind you also got it lowered with spacers on and lsd fitted handles like a go cart
