Tesla doesn't even support Android Auto yet lmao but yes, they are billions of miles ahead in the more important full self driving. I think eventually they will basically become the Google of FSD and lease the technology to the other automakers. Everyone will use Tesla technology even if they don't own a Tesla
@@ericgilmore5949 supporting Android auto or Apple car play is what shows their low confidence in their OS actually lmao if they can even call it an OS.
@@ericgilmore5949 BMW has had self-driving for much longer than Tesla. They also have level 4 autonomy prototype cars. So no, Tesla is not that far ahead.
When he said that BMW didn’t made a special sound for it he was wrong because they did make it and I think Hans Zimmer was involved with the development of the sounds. Great video as always 👍😉
@@loganrader7472 I meant that Parker is a knowledgeable and sensible car guy who knows the market well. His viewers don’t necessarily all have 110,000 or so, not now with bidenflation. As for the me, I’d get an e39m5 for 38, an e92m3 6mt for 42 and a 135i 6mt for 30.
Parker this is why I enjoy you back on RU-vid. The steering wheel explanation is exactly why your the best automotive reviewer on the platform My opinion 👍 Besides you being more genuine
I get so tired of people crying," is it worth $100grand?" You're paying for R&D and light weight materials. Not at all cheap. Reinforced poly carbonate etc. Amazing safety construction and technology package. That is All what You're paying for. Plus, Zero emissions. Amazing!
Ugly exterior design from all angles. Just plain ugly. Now that I got that out of the way, the interior is the exact opposite. Just stunning. As for cargo space, it's very disappointing. So small for a vehicle this size. Pass.
BMW copied off Mercedes in the seat adjustment buttons on the door and the sideways rectangular Infotainment screen which is the only thing I hate about this vehicle. I like the Infotainment screen separate from the Digital Speedometer
Crystals in a car that reflect the light everywhere??? Drove me crazy watching this great short review and noticing rainbows and reflections everywhere. Didn’t that bother you @Parker ?
If you're on a long road trip, the charging speed ability of the iX is not the thing that will give you range anxiety. It's the lack of charging locations that can charge that fast. It's not just that superchargers are now available every 50 miles on average, but that each location has lots of identical stalls and you can see on the nav just how many are being used at any moment. After 40K supercharging miles on long road trips in a Model S with 135K miles, I can't imagine trying to do that in anything else that is currently available. Also, the better comparison is against the X LR which is still WAY faster than the iX. The interior is awesome except for the gaudy crystal controls that look like they came from my aunt's costume jewelry. The steering wheel is miles better than the yoke. Really hoping that by the time my MXP comes that there will be a round wheel option that I can switch to that won't bump me off my current purchase agreement price. Also, turning radius of iX which is 21.4' is 1 foot larger than 2022 X at 20.4'.
Not only are there not enough charging stations but they are all different with a different app you have to download. Then half of them are out of order. I would never take my electric car on a long trip. Your time is not in your hands at that point it’s in the dozen different charging companies
I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it again. BMW (and others) are not totally focused on electric cars (like Tesla) at this point. These early models are just here to say we can build one. So all of the Tesla comparisons are irrelevant if you asked me. Once BMW builds an all electric 3 Series lineup (their bread and butter car), then I’ll know for sure they are serious about this market.
@@ajlee6933 Don't disagree with any of that but all I was saying is that the real source of range anxiety is not having frequent reliable and fast charging on long road trips that you can absolutely count on like gas stations which you can with Tesla. Tesla has been focused on this out of the gate and the gap is only widening. Tesla is the only brand that you can buy where you can count on driving from California to New York in about the same amount of time as an ICE car.
@@ajlee6933 They already do; converted 3 and 4 series into All electric; basically gutted gas power to all electric. Just like the Corvette all electric. With the billions in infrastructure, the billions in gov't contracts they're already building thousands of charging stations; walmarts, cracker barrels, shopping malls.
My i3 electric BMW had electrical issues, range extender issues, exterior rubber trim deterioration, (meanwhile, my 1989 Toyota MR-2’s trim is still new looking). Never again will I buy a German car (my Audi TT not much better). I’ll pick up a Genesis GV60 in a few years.
Just speaking of performance, this doesn’t even come close to the Model X LR. The Plaid is just another league of speed and acceleration. So… a bit of a clickbait title :) I‘d still prefer the Model X, although the BMW build quality may be better!
It might be wise to focus on Electric-Vehicle Virgins, because let’s face it, we all are, for the most part. And if I’m looking for a new EV it would be nice to have a channel that reviews every EV. Keep up the great work Parker! Been subscribed for like 5-6 years now. You should also do vlogs show a bit of your life again having fun, like the old days 😎
I'm trying to make the switch to electric & range anxiety is a thing for me. Can you confirm that it can charge from 10% - 80% in 30 mins? That will make the difference for me.
it has a good value proposition. even the upcoming ix M model is at least 10k to 30k less than the base model x depending on added options. It’s so sad to witness all the german premium car makers are disappearing in the chapter and what bmw is doing with their EV line ups is basically what hyundai kia did back in the days. “value”
I think it is worth it based on the design and the quick charge with 30 minutes charge gives 80%. The 500 plus Horsepower makes it worth it and no being a Hostage at a Gas station. So it saves Money in no need for gas. No need for Oil changes no need for much maintenance. But BMW should make this be $70,000 not $100,000
There is a cheaper version with less power and range, I honestly believe that the iX is worth every penny, despite us paying quite a bit more than you guys.
Well I have to say Parker it looks like a hearse there's no character to it that's just my opinion I don't need backup cameras I don't need a car to slow down if I get too close to like my 550 s Mercedes does just learn how to drive I don't need push button things open the cars up that doesn't make a car there's no character to cars anymore there's no personality people are just lazy they want all these fancy features doesn't make the car great I don't think it's that fast and you're never going to get rid of gas cars for a while people can't afford them electric cars you're not going to see that for at least another 20 years I got too many people that are in the industry that only dealerships manufacturers and they're still making gas cars is not going to happen and you don't want that to happen you don't want to make this a digital world okay where there's no money and everyone can't get their money out of the bank this is what they want and people fall for it thinking this is the new way to do things it's not the new way to do things I don't like it I don't think it's worth $100,000 I would never waste $100,000 on that I would give it to homeless people first before I waste my money on something like that but not to you thanks for showing us the new hearse electric BMW cuz that's what it looks like
The problem with its designs are: 1)The lights should be i4 lights not this slim style. 2)The air intakes design in front are bad. 3)The side profile has terrible lines. The rest of it are completely fine.
