I’d get the M2 it has broader daily usage and is still trackable, it can also be modified to the whazooo and still be cheaper than a fully spec’d 718. I am biased as I’ve put an order on one, fully spec’d in sapphire black.
@Ed Turner congrats on your new purchase. Wondering if you had in consideration the m340i before your decision and if yes what make you go with the m2...I am at the same boat 😊
About to order a 2025 and I have watched a million videos on this car . This is for me the best one! Granted he likes the M2 but the review is extremely well done in my opinion and points out many things others do not.
it doesn’t look bad but the back is what kinda ruins it. it drives well but the issue is that it’s heavy. like really heavy. for a compact two door sports car it should not weigh the same amount as a small sedan
Most BMW's are fun to drive. The last M2 F87 got was praised by the majority of people, which should be the goal in design. Getting a minority to like a car is given, there have been after all takers for the Pontiac Aztek. The new M2 just looks like cheap kit car garbage from China.
I like it, it gives off that 90s vibe from how boxed it looks to me it’s a little less aggressive on the front end to the f87 but all around it’s a great looking car, haven’t driven one yet so can’t say anything about that.
I bought a new M2 manual and so far it is great. I highly recommend this GT car , quite fast and handles well with good brakes. Also a comfortable highway cruiser.
Great review. As always the intro looks like an amazing car commercial! I hope you guys review the upcoming Volvo EX 30… you know …the EX 90s broster. I look forward to your next review. Keep em coming!
Yes, I would. Have already put down a deposit on an order, hope that pans out. I think it’s a great looking car and high potential as a collector if bmw holds true to current trends
In what world is the starting price of the Cayman GTS similar to the M2? Starting MSRP for the GTS in the U.S. is like 95K before options, starting MSRP for the M2 is 62K before options. Is the GTS 30K cheaper in Canada or something?
@@ACCELER8TV gotcha. The base Cayman starts around 5-6K higher than the M2 but that’s in the ballpark. Still though, if you’re including the base Cayman when discussing beginning price point then wouldn’t it be more fair to include the base 2 series BMW? The M2 will blow the doors off the base Cayman.
Bought outright a 24 in black (totally stealth), auto, standard strip seats, sun roof, carbon fiber interior, one of the finest and most fun BMW i have ever owned, bought grill covers for front and for coil protection under carriage from zun sport, great review
Interesting how many of the people criticizing the new M2's looks havent actually seen one in person. While I agree that it may not be the best looking M car, it looks good in person. Ive seen a few and actually drove one for a few days. Its a blast to drive, and I received lots of compliments on it. Polarizing looks for sure, I guess you either love it or hate it.
Can anybody do a review or a real test life of braking distance in normal mode, vs sport mode ( brake mode) if reduced the distance or is only to comfort , Thanks.
This car actually looks great. As an E92 owner, I'd love this! BMW still knows how to make a good sports coupe Lovely review, Mike! Super appreciative of your work Also, great Throttle House shoutout!
Ordered a 2025 yesterday. Black, silver grey wheels, carbon roof and interior, automatic. I have a manual 2022 Miata to play around with a shifter 😂 Can’t wait to get it. Should be delivered in mid-March 2025 (I live in Europe), maybe the waiting time is shorter in America. Great review BTW 👍
No, I love this design so much and think people are off their rocker for talking smack about the looks. I just love the boxiness of it and if you put a bit of body kit on it, it just looks mean and aggressive.
ROAD, SPORT and TRACK only changes the displays and driving assistance features I think. Don’t know why they called it M Mode though, it’s super confusing
The fact most people think the G87 looks the best in black tells you everything. It completely lacks any traditional BMW design language, no body lines along the profile, no side grill, no angel eye headlights. This car will age like milk.
Mike, curious what you think. I am leaning (given the rear seats in this gen is useless) towards saving 5 to 10k and getting a Supra or 10 to 15k more and going for the z51 C8 Corvette. How about the M340i?
Given that the dash is so high, does the heads up display make sense at $1,300? I ordered one, don’t know if I’ll ever get it, but I didn’t opt for the display.
I can't wait to buy mine. Heading to a dealer this weekend to test drive one and then see if I can order one to my preferred color an spec. Those seats do look so dope but they are a bit nonsensical if this will be a daily driver as it adds so much extra cost and are less comfortable.
That's a tough one. The new last 100% combustion engine BMW M2 CS was already seen and spied in camouflage. The Camaro ZL1 has gotten good reviews. I feel like the M2 will be most sought in 5-7 years because of the tuning capabilities.
Certainly pained when looking at the USA pricing here in Europe. The Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 starting at the same price as a BMW M2 G87. That's absolutely crazy-talk here. I got a quote from Porsche in Spain for a pretty basic (almost nothing added) Porsche 718 Cayman Turbo S (not even the GTS 4.0!) of €80,000. A fully spec'ed BMW M2 G87 with everything on... €71,650. I didn't even want to dare ask for a GTS 4.0 quote. It would have sailed way past €95,000.
How would you compare this with a Mustang Mach1 ? The sound of the Coyote V8 kills it for sure. The Tremec manual is no doubt better. So what about the handling? The are both heavy and the styling works better for the Mustang! The pricing is also better for the Mustang. The Mach1 sells for $65k well equipped and the M2 is selling about $70 and higher like $80k with dealer markups. The new Mustang Dark Horse with 500 hp and Tremec will also sell for about $65k. Seems like the Mustang with the Coyote V8 and Tremec is the BEST BUY. WHATS YOUR OPINION?
It's worth noting that you say "4.48 seconds" with an intention to measure 0-60 miles/hour but your speedometer says 127 kilometres/hour as soon as you stop accelerating and read the "4.48 seconds".
@@chrisginoc How is it a different conversation? Ece cars are heavy but once they figure out that then what's stopping you buying ece over ice? Sound?
@@recursion. engagement. I never bought a car because it's the fastest. The m2 isn't even all that fast. It's how the car feels, part of that is the engine and transmission and how all those things mesh together.
It looks like a cheap aftermarket kit car. If you really want a 2 series buy the M240i. My friend had the previous M240i and couldn't stand this design so he bought a S3.
imagine it in the wet !!! needs 2b 4wheel drive unless u live somewhere hot and sunny all year round and u can have fun with the back end in the dry but wet and snow no thanks!!!!
I think BMW won't get the message any other way than a boycott over the giant Samsung display complete with a strut stand attached to the back! And dumb stampings on the interior vinyl. And a super ugly exterior when compared to the outgoing M2. Boycott!
It doesn't feel heavy at all folks. It feels like compared to my m240xdrive and it feels light compared to my previous generation M4. It really is a great car
