On this episode, StallionSearch.com was on hand to capture the running of the 2023 edition of the $750,000 Champion of Champions(G1), as well as to capture post-race interviews with the winning owner, trainer and jockey.
2022 AQHA World Champion Empressum headlined a field that included five-entries from trainer M. Heath Taylor, three-entries from Monty Arrossa, as well as two-entrants from Eddie D. Willis.

It is unfortunate that two-time Champion of Champions winner, Apollitical Pence, was unable to run at his optimal level after tying up or cramping in his hind end about halfway through the race. APence had again left the gates best and was maybe in a more controlling position than he had been his 3 previous runs in the CoC. It was highly unlikely he was about to run away and hide from this field; 440y is always pushing it for him and even at his best at the distance, the 2022 Robert Boniface Los Al Invitational, his mid-race lead was cut in half by the wire. Most likely, if Pence was to have won his 3rd CoC, it would have been a desperate finish as he grimly tried to hold off Flash Bak and the other closers. What is unsatisfying is we were not given the chance to have the answers to the above questions decided on the track.
