Although this season I struggled with illness and I got behind in my Christmas Decorating, that did not stop me from completing my decorating nor did it put a damper on the joy I get from decorating my home for Christmas, every year.
My illness, however, did give me time to reflect and especially on my RU-vid journey. I couldn’t help but recall the one to two years just before I started my Channel. I had discovered the wonderful world of content creators sharing their holiday and seasonal home decorating and it seemed that these people loved decorating their homes as much as I did. During that time, I was so tempted to start my own channel but just didn’t know if I would be good enough.
The very first home decorating channel I discovered was ‪@LifeWithMaryAnnJoe‬ . Oh My Goodness, Joe’s Christmas Home Tour was a sight to behold. I immediately felt like Joe and Maryann were family and I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of Joe’s holiday home decorating videos. He was creative and not like any other holiday decorator I knew. I can honestly say that although my decorating may seem different than Joe’s, he has inspired me quite a bit.
Then I discovered Liz @TraditionsByTheSeasons . Her personality along with her decorating style and love of shopping immediately grabbed my attention. Liz is the reason I now decorate in a #mackenzie-childsinspired fashion.
I then discovered two more amazing channels: ‪@davedalane6505‬ and ‪@jodyatsouthernseasons‬
My very first video on RU-vid was a part of Daveda Lane's Valentines Home Tour Open Collaboration. I CANNOT tell you what an absolute thrill it was to be able to upload my first video as part of one of my favorite RU-vidrs collaborations and have her tell me that my video was “beautiful”. I just about fainted….lol.
And then there’s my sweet friend Jody. The first time I collaborated with Jody was a Lemon Themed Tablescape Collab and I couldn’t believe that Jody would agree to collaborate with a little timer such as myself. I don’t think I was even on RU-vid for a year yet (I’m not sure) but let me tell you, I was over the moon. Since then, I can confidently say that Jody has become a friend and I cherish my relationship with her.
These four channels were the very first four I discovered on RU-vid and the only ones I watched, for quite some time. They are the PIONEERS and I dedicate this video to them, with much LOVE.
ANTONETTE DECORATING is a channel devoted to the decorating of my home for the HOLIDAYS, ALL SEASONS and ANY REASON. I decorate in an elegant and whimsical fashion marrying both high-end and low-end items, as well as new purchases with older loved treasures, to show how Style can be achieved at any budget.
