With the review of the stock 2023 Dodge Hornet GT complete, Mike Musto and crew are back at Wesley Motorsports in Lansing, MI to see what Kevin has done to the Hornet to prepare it for the Roadkill Nights event and its inaugural run down the dragstrip. The real question is, can they make it launch harder and run quicker when the time comes.
Upon arrival, Kevin goes over parts, addresses issues that may occur during the build, and then showcases how slight modifications to the wheels, tires, and suspension can pay big dividends. Once complete Musto then takes the modified Hornet out for another quick road test to see how the upgrades have enhanced performance and determines if it will be ready for Roadkill Nights.

@drivebigmuscle8080 Alfas have a reputation for being OK drivers cars, but score terrible for reliability. You couldn't pay me to own one. I refer you to the Car and Driver long-term test of the hot rod Alfa. It was hilarious!

10 lbs of unsprung weight at each corner, and my eyes and likely butt will appreciate the change - nice hat trick! It’s fascinating that you’d mention the Shelby’s from the 80s, I was thinking the same thing. Like I wrote the first time - you have me intrigued. Thanks for bringing us along ~ Chuck

I have a 2024 Hornet GT with the Track Pack option. While I can live with the low profile tires, I'd like a larger sidewall tire. What's the cost on the smaller rims with the larger sidewall tires? And what does the exhaust cost?

The Hornet looks pretty good and the new wheels/springs looks 100% stock and dropping that weight will be awesome. The hurricrate is impressive.... but admittedly lacks in looks. Great job guys!!!

@hemmingsmotornews Electric blue color Stage 1 PCM Stage 2 wastegate set for 18psi Motor mount inserts Short throw shifter BOV After market exhaust Raptor shift light It was so clean under the hood. You could eat off engine bay. A damn big truck ran over it in a parking lot and totaled it.

Hey Mike, I was wondering when and if you were going to do something like this. A four cylinder turbo isn't for everyone but they can be really fun to drive. I have been driving a Hyundai Kona Limited for a few years now and it is so much more fun than I thought it was going to be and all wheel drive is a bonus here in the Northeast. Looking forward to what comes of your little hot hatch! All the best!

What's up Buddy! Here's the thing, 500, 600, 800 horsepower is really run, no one will deny that. However the majority of the people one, don't know how to handle it, and two, simply don't need it. A peaky turbo 4 stuffed inside a great chassis, with proper suspension under it makes for one helluva fun scoot. There's a reason vehicles like the Kona, GTI, hell, even the Porsche Macan are so good - it's because they give loads of sport and fun in a very practical package.
