Relive all the action from the FCP Euro Northeast Grand Prix presented by Liqui Moly at Lime Rock Park, the seventh race of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
A very special thanks to @IMSA Official for providing this and all of the races for our enjoyment! There isn't a venue near enough to me to be able to join in the fun with my fellow fans so, this is the next best thing. Congratulations to team 🏁Heart of Racing🏁 on a brilliant race in both classes and "Happy Birthday" Boss🍻!
What a race!! Thank you very much as always IMSA. I am a huge fan of this series because this channel set the trend for fan accessibility via this platform, and I've been able to follow it here for years
I've become a Hawksworth/Barnicoat fan over the course of this season. Robbie Foley running both the GT4 and GT3 BMWs is really impressive too, seems to finish well in both. I'm always primarily rooting for the NSX though as it's one of my favorite race cars. The Porsches seem like they do well on tires here in Lime Rock.
IMSA has a video of the 80's GTP racing here at LimeRock. its really great stuff. Wish they would do it again, perhaps they could run two races back to back a GTP and LMP race as a feature of the weekend with GT and GTD prior to that.
@@briandavis55they did race all at once until about 10 years ago. The old Daytona Prototypes were a lot slower then the current GTP cars. I’ve been going to Limerock for years now I have a pretty good picture of the #10 DP from 2009ish after it won that race
Disagree. It’s awful for racing. Too many aero-dependent high speed corners. I can’t remember an imsa weathertech series race that had such a glaring absence of passing. It’s a great drivers track but it is truly awful for racing.
@@Pewnhound112 Big Bend through the Right Hander is pretty exciting, albeit not high speed and the Downhill is an extremely important corner leading onto the straight.
I first became aware of John Hindhaugh through his work in radio control racing, so you can imagine the surreal feeling of hearing him call a full scale motor race.
Outside of cutting edge engineering, F1 can't hold a candle to IMSA races. Different classes and series make the race actually fun to watch, instead of the boring DRS train in F1.
Watch the top 3 cars pull away down the straights against the Corvette. It seems to hold it`s own in the twisties but it looks to be down on power.Well, there`s always next year.
Thanks for the upload. This one was a bit boring though. No fighting for positions. Almost as if they were just going through the motions at the front of both classes. Zero attacks for quite a long time all the way to the end surprisingly. Seems like there was an understanding pre-race. Felt a bit WWF.
Agreed. I can’t remember an imsa weathertech series race that had such a dearth of passing. Limerock is a great drivers track but it is simply awful for racing.
I’m so disappointed with the lack of passing aside from pit differences in GTD PRO. It seemed to me like a pre-determined race order at the finish. It’s so boring to spend this much time and get no passing and really no effort to push one another until the end of the race. What a waste of my time. I’m seriously BORED. When there wasn’t so much effort put into this bullshit BOP it seems more fun to watch and more real racing throughout the race. Not is all pacing and fuel strategy and only passing within pit strategy. I want to see passing on the track. I think it’s time for me to give up on this series.
It's Lime Rock, there isn't many places to overtake. Maybe the inside of turn one which puts you in a bad line for turn 2 and 3. After that it's just a chicane and 2 right handers, that you need a strong line to carry the speed into the short straight. The strategy must therefore be based on pit, tyre longevity etc. And yes the BOP is restrictive, but it's still offering fair flexibility, speed, acceleration, downforce etc. I wish they brought it into F1 to be honest. But again, lime Rock is what it is, top speed isn't really relevant, medium level of downforce and acceleration is, so every team go for similar set ups. VIR with the long straights and tight corners offers better racing, I like Watkins Glen as well, sebring. I actually find the rolex 24 hours of daytona one of the most boring on the calender
Nice video... but to me it seems to be odd...very odd!🤔Who makes such a boring course, there must be very little competition courses when such a simple course comes into use. And from above you can see that it is not shortened or has more curves to add... 🫤 Very strange that such a boring track survives.
I was there for this and have been there many times prior. Limerock is one of the only courses on the North American list of historic places. Its been around for decades. Back in the Can-Am, Trans Am, and early IMSA days when everyone was watching NASCAR - LimeRock was the track to go to along with Watkins Glen and Road America. Its small, but fast, there are no grandstands. you can walk the track comfortably throughout the race. The fan experience is unmatched. its Legendary.
