They did some tests, I saw one myself in Florida. The humidity makes the paint come off. It's why ford did that weird press release saying they would replace the tops affected by humidity. They did the same thing and had PPG consult on it. The top subcontractor said it can't be painted because the material has a mold resistant property that outgasses the stuff he is saying he had to add an adhesion promotion to is the uv coating. Under that is a mold inhibitor. The color is molded into it, not dyed. I worked in thermal plastics as an engineer, this will either come off or mold really rapidly if you get rid of the coating, the adhesion promoter will also make it brittle because it will dry out the top layer of the coating.
Nice job! You can do the same with the textured flares also. I go with 180 first, then adhesion promoter followed by epoxy primer. Block down and couple coats of 2k primer and block again and ready for paint. Love the double booth.
Great work, i've done a lot textured bumpers over the years and its very labour intensive but well worth the effort. Its difficult to explain too the customer why it cost so much !!!!!
Wow, that is a super nice paint job bro, I had the hardtop on my four-door bronco painted gloss. Black looks great but I didn’t have the texture taken out unfortunately. I had the hardtop on my wife’s two door bronco painted metallic gray, but once again, didn’t take the texture out I really wish I would have. I had her fender flares, painted metallic gray also and had the texture taken out and they look super!!! Great job 👍🏾👍🏾
A day in the life eh bro ??? This is what I like not all glitz and glamour .I remember when I was an apprentice I was told paint will only mirror what's underneath and spent 2yrs prepping only 👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing job Kandy Man, you must have put a lot of hours into the prep on the hardtop but it looks so much better than the texture finish which I don't like. Sorry to ask but do you have a code for the green if possible? I love that colour, thanks K Man👏👌👍John UK
Fantastic idea and expert execution as usual. I have to tell you another channel is using your footage. They're just called "car painting". I wasn't paying attention and it came on.
Awesome work very much would love this for my future Bronco. I just recently got my build date and this video confirms my color choice. Does anyone know where this shop is located?
@@kandyman5315 got it. I’m blocking out some fiberglass fenders for a bronco now. In a few months I’m going to progress to the hardtop. Why block vs just using a DA for the primer prep? Are you worried you would burn through it too fast?
