2023 season review.
It has been a busy year of extreme highs and lows, the highs being the railway celebrating 50 years since opening in in 1973 and the 100th birthday of the J27/P3 No. 2392 and the visit of King Charles III to the NYMR on the Flying Scotsman to be celebrate the the 50th Anniversary of the railway and the 100th birthday of the Flying Scotsman. The lows being 63395’s fractured cylinder block and withdrawals of BR Standard 4 No. 76079 and S15 825.

Unbelievable amount of fine craftsmanship and brute force goes into bringing these engines alive. Nothing that is broken can be just pulled off a shelf and bolted on. Takes extraordinary skills and dedication. Congratulations and best of luck in 2024 and beyond!

What a lovely video. So informative and shows what excellent work goes on behind the scenes. I don't know how you manage to keep everything going, as the time it must take for some of the jobs. So glad you are so patriotic to get the Great railway engines back on the rails. Well done to you all.

the shot at 6.30 shows the middle driving axel on a 9f. if you look close you can see there is no flange on the wheels . this is called a blind tyre, the 9fs had these so they could go round corners.
