Even if it's the last season and the tournament is smaller, I'm so thankful to be watching GSL again. Big thanks to Afreeca for keeping this legendary tournament alive all these years, as well as the players for all the incredible matches and memories.
@@N0noy1989 Honestly it wasnt pro level micro. He outmicrod Maru today. Byunn was on another level. It was God micro in a way that only Byun can do as a Terran. Remember when Byun got the reapers nerfed all on his own? Maru tried his reaper play in a bo5 and lost the 2 first games, untill he switched of the strategy and then he won 3 straight games. Byun was on that level of micro today. NOONE else can micro like that. Try it yourself and see how OP it is. When literally only 1 player in the world can make a race look OP its not OP.
@@SsSHardt it was so much strategically. Targeting the queens as a strategically decision, not increasing scv count, the unit composition, the macro, not starting another update, forcing out enough units to not let DRG making drones. Sniping some drones by perfect positioning. Target fire on the banes with siege tanks, attacking on the perfect fronts, catching DRG offguard. Denying most runbys, floating his CCs instead of starting a new one, taking maximum DMG on madivacs, denying important creep, so that DRG can't engage properly. Denying hatcheries to reduce the larva. Faking attacks and alot more. And people are talking about just micro. The macro was perfect as well.
The entire reaper play in the first game was so insane that I was howling laughing in just stunned disbelief and amazement watching the micro insanity that both DRG and Byun displayed, incredible.
until the servers of sc2/ brood war stop, I will keep watching, what a fantastic series. one day, i'll make a bar that plays these games 12 hours/7. sc fans are great fans, loyal n etc.
There are only 2 possible reasons in my mind. A. She is too old for the job, so the producer ditched her. B. They dont give her enough money, so she resigned.
DRG is consistently way too greedy in the early game. I was rooting for him, but he deserved to lose both of his series against Byun. This series at least was more competitive than the first, but he was consistently taking massive damage from attacks that shouldn't be that hard to defend.
41:30 - he loses the game right here coz he throws all his army into just 3 libs. DRG so bad, had the bases but hardly any drones, no tech, threw away his whole army for free against 3 liberators when he didn't need to defend there. Byun is just better flatout.
last game is perfect example of terran bein op vs zerg , 2 base terran vs 5 base zerg that did not take very bad fight and ahead on upgrade but still manage to loose to terran map , this gaame is broken now
Gyuri probably didn't leave because she wanted to. With only the semi-finals and finals being played in studio, there's barely anything for her to do; I'm sure they asked her to take a pay cut. I'll definitely miss her, she's not as good as the ASL host, but she's still excellent, and boy is she easy on the eyes.
That's what annoys me about playing terran - it's just so much less forgiving than the other two races. That run-by that won game 2 - terran doesn't have anything close that they can do to win a game. Byun somehow got 3 full medevacs into zerg's main undetected - and it didn't matter in the slightest. If that depot is up - zerglings just go to the third, or go back, and zerg is completely fine. There shouldn't be moves that are low-risk high-reward, and especially there shouldn't be a situation where only one side has such moves. And people wonder why nobody plays Starcraft anymore.
Terran is so goddamn OP. Two Command Centers should not equal 5 base zerg. That third game is a prime example of why this game is quickly dying. No skill, just stim a-move mule abuse.
because DRG played quite bad here? He didnt know what kind of advantage he had and kept taking terrible trade. A couple of Infestor with Burrow would completely shut Byun down for good, but DRG refused to do it.
It's because Byun's pressure was so bad that DRG couldn't build other units. DRG have upgrade advantages so I understand his idea to hold with good upgrade but cheap massive lings. DRG could have lost earlier if he build expensive investors so he doesn't have enough units.
@@user-vh2xy2yn2d DRG was on 5 bases and could afford an Infestation Pit with 2 Infestor. Yes he was making unit non-stop to defend, but he wasnt broke. Especially when he could have saturated a couple more Gas if he needs to push for it. It was the bad engagemen that ultimately lost him the game, something that he could completely avoid by adding Spellcaster.
@@tigera6 nah 5 bases but 60 workers which means only 3 bases economy. Also, Byun and DRG army supply almost similar or Byuns ahead eventhough DRG only made lings. Making investors in this situation, DRG won't hold.
