We have a Jolion Hev, I find it very comfortable and economical. 55 litre tank, I use E10, I usually fill up with 2 bars to empty, trip computer regularly indicates over 900 to empty. Only bugbear is the adaptive cruise. Approaching a bend on cruise it will slow dramatically, dropping over 10kph I find this dangerous as a vehicle behind would be unprepared. You can override it by gently pressing the accelerator pedal. I've read another owners report and it claimed that GWM have a patch that will remove this function. Other yhan that, it is an excellent vehicle, great features
Paul, have you thought about doing a nighttime interior viewing ? I don’t think anyone else does them and I’m pretty sure most people (myself included ) would like to see the dash lighting at night, cheers mate.
I drive one in Thailand and I think there isn't much difference between here and there. I can turn down the dashboard lights and turn the centre screen off. Hope it helps.
Another fantastic review Paul, yes I took the plunge and bought one in NZ, overall a fantastic car. Five weeks in and I'm getting 5.8l/100km so it looks promising. The price differential is not as great in NZ as under current rules the petrol version attracts an additional tax of around $1500 while the hybrid gets a clean car rebate of just over $2k bringing the difference down to less than $4k so a bit more justifiable. Coming from a five year old Toyota Corolla ZR my immediate reaction is that this is just so much easier to get into and out of, especially for older drivers who aren't quite as flexible as they once were. I'm impressed and would definitely recommend these cars.
We have a petrol varient as our 2nd car and have had it for around 6 months. Great little SUV with all the tech and safety kit for a really good price.
Because of this video I have decided to stick to my Jolion Ultra Lux and not do a trade in to the HEV. Thanks for a excellent detailed video. Greetings from South Africa
Damn it Paul, do you ever take a day off?? No wonder you are the best, most comprehensive car reviewer going. Must be all the practice you're getting. :) Never mind all the research going on behind the scenes that we don't see.
Let's do some basic calculation: Julion Ultra fuel consumption: 8.1L/ 100km Julion Ultra hybrid fuel consumption: 5L/ 100km Every 100km you save 3L = 3x $2 (petrol price) = $6 You pay $7000 extra for the hybrid 7000 / 6 = 1166 × 100km = 116,000Km That's an average of 6 years driving until you can balance out the extra cost.
That's what I did when I brought the Lexus, many people asked me why I don't get the hybrid version, I mean I'm not really sure if I'm still drive this one after 5 years.
there are sections on our major highways where the road is like that the hume for example, even travelling at 110 it's going to give you and your passengers quite a nasty fright. that is a really good test that you include.
I think this Jolion looks great. I don't think it has the punch expected for vehicles in the same class. That's all i can see as area of improvement It looks amazing and you have told us that it drives well so all that is left is the drivetrain improvement maybe for future models. I love the look especially the interior layout. Very nice car.
I test drove the normal and hybrid version recently. I think the normal petrol makes more sense as 7k difference is a lot to break even for the hybrid. I think the design is very stylish, interior feels good and the back seat space was surprisingly good for a small car. My biggest concern, a strange one, is the logo, It just looks and screams “ inexpensive”. 😊 I so wish they could have a logo change just as KIA.
@@zacazzz Hi there, it’s been some time since I test drove it, From memory I think the interiors were same across the top non hybrid and hybrid version
I have been living in China for 17 years and Australia 18 years, I can say China got way better roads in all city roads and high ways. And you are right, these cars are not designed for rough Australian roads.
Hi Paul, I absolutely love your car reviews. Could you please review the new Toyota Corolla Cross GX hybrid. I really wanted to know what were your thoughts on the vehicle and whether it was worth considering it. Cheers
Its sweet to drive. Did a test a week ago. Typical Toyota interior but comfy. Responsive infotainment and it packs a punch in power mode. Loved the experience.
Another detailed review Paul. You always give car buyers plenty to ponder over. Could be some good runout deals on these with the new model dropping. Looking forward to your review on the 2025 model.
Overtake should be at the speed limit. Exceeding speed limits of the road is not justified for overtaking. This however can be handy when overtaking roadtrain or in critical conditions where speed and torque can save your life. Yes, speed to save your life.
You can’t. As someone who got a speeding ticket for overtaking a road train last week I can assure you, that you aren’t “allowed” to speed to overtake.
On the DB data. could you guys add the benchmark avg db for comfortable ride . doesnt have to be German class and then add + or - the benchmark value. that would be awesome. often we might struggle to understand how far off it from the benchmark avg.
Disappointing Experience with Haval - Quality, Maintenance, and Battery Issues I am writing this review to express my profound disappointment with the Haval car I purchased, and I believe it is essential to share my experience for the benefit of potential buyers. Parts Falling Off and Weird Noise in Tyres: Over the past few months, my Haval has been plagued with multiple issues, including parts falling off the car and strange noises emanating from the tires. These concerns have not only compromised the safety of the vehicle but have also significantly diminished my driving experience. Battery Problems: To exacerbate matters, I recently had to replace the car battery. For a vehicle that is just over a year old, this is an alarming issue. A new car should not encounter battery problems so early in its lifespan. I want to emphasize that I have diligently maintained my car, ensuring everything is turned off when not in use. Despite these precautions, the need for a new battery raises questions about the overall reliability and quality of the vehicle. Maintenance Challenges and Customer Expectations: While I understand that wear and tear are inevitable, the frequency and severity of these issues for a relatively new car are unacceptable. I expected a new car to be a reliable and hassle-free investment, yet my experience suggests otherwise. The challenges I've faced in addressing these issues through maintenance checks and the lack of effective solutions from the dealership have added to my frustration. Customer Expectations and Brand Reputation: I want to emphasize the importance of upholding customer expectations for a brand like Haval. Quality control and customer service are integral to maintaining a positive brand reputation. I hope my feedback serves as a call for a thorough review of manufacturing standards and an enhancement of customer support processes. In conclusion, my ownership experience with Haval has been marred by consistent and unresolved issues. I hope that prospective buyers take this feedback into consideration, and I urge Haval to address these concerns promptly to restore confidence in the brand.
We don’t get Haval in the UK or most EU countries. The only EU country to get Haval is Bulgaria. They have the Jolion, but only the 110kW petrol version. They don’t get the Jolion hybrid, but they get the H6 hybrid.
Thank you for the great review. I think it is a nice looking car among its peers where some could attract a love or hate reaction from customers in regard to their stylings. Speaking of lane keeping, why do you try to see if it passes the third lane? Is it that important? I think the car is trying to stay on the right (left) side of the road. By the way, are you likely to get hold of a Tank 500 for review in Australia? The Chinese market has reacted enthusiastically to it. It measures similarly to a Land Cruiser with a 3 litre turbo V6 under the bonnet.
Just a thought Paul you mentioned the regen braking wasn't very aggressive, I agree even at their highest setting but I feel they are actually more aggressive when using one peddle mode.
Just purchased a Jolion Hybrid Ultra due for delivery in 1 week. To say my experience with the dealership was awesome would be a lie. This may be a reflection of my experience with the finance team. The car is stunning, but the teams I've dealt with purchasing my vehicle have taken away from the experience. I'm a fan of the car, and I can't wait to see my car, I'll never go back to this dealership again.
Really the Chinese manufactures need to move with the times. USB-A is old boring thing that becomes loose as time goes by. They needed to fit USB -C and offer wireless CarPlay /Android Auto . I am beginning to hate usb a cables. I drove the H6 hybrid and could have sworn the cruise control was a stalk a la Audi-esque which was a shame. Good to see the Jillion has it on steering wheel I checked some of the apps you have on your iphone.
Paul in the next reviews can you please mention after hundreds of kilometres if we need to change the body parts are they expensive may be with any brand Kia , haval, Mazda , Toyota . This will make us understand regarding the body parts
Just bought one in Austin Texas, drove 2100 miles in 3 months. Fuel eco is about 27 mpg, not very impressive. The 2.0L engine is wimp and noisy. Steering is a bit off, and the thing cost me over $30g. Not a good value. Regret it.
Do you think that one day a manufacturer will produce a hybrid/ ev that has a full size spare, making it suitable and safe for long distance travel in Australia. In my situation anything less is just not fit for purpose.
@@wcrash9361 in 42 years of driving I've had five flats, three of which were not within 50klms of a tyre retail outlet, and two of which were not repairable, It would be a very big issue for me, and no spare tyre would be a deal breaker for me.
@@wcrash9361 I'm all good, I don't think I have had bad luck, I drive a lot of klm's on bad roads, I think that you have had extraordinary good luck. My point was more that we all have different experiences, and mine has shown me it is better to be prepared.
@@wcrash9361 Thanks for your input Crash. Just quietly, I don't think my opinion is rubbish, and I would extend the courtesy of not calling your opinion rubbish. Likewise, I don't necessarily think that the experience of you and and your family make not having a spare tyre a non-issue. May you and yours luck continue.
Best I've managed to do is 8.4 seconds in my Jolion Hybrid :) did the run a few times to make sure - slowest I got was 8.7 - driver error lol :) I believe Haval themselves say it does it in 8.2?
Great design. High price. Its almost same as Toyota RAV4. Start button hides behind the steering wheel. Cup holders are small. Sunroof is an unnecessary feauture that pushes the price up.
Your Diplomacy is as professional as ever Paul😀Not wanting to offend but why would anyone pay $7000 more for this and invest so much into an unproven brand and support?
Hi there Paul, sorry mate carExpert only reviews passenger cars, Ute and SUV alike...no other form or type of vehicle allowed say "Big" or small? Van? Bus tourism?
It's a bit gutless but overall, looks like a neat package and I love it when manufacturers offer a green. No reach on the steering wheel though, yikes. What is that about? If you're long-legged with short arms, you're kinda ****ed. Or even just tall in general.
I live in victoria and if the cops catch you doing more than 100 even overtaking youll get a speeding ticket so yeah i dont care how the car handles at 130km/h
Taking a Jolion to a race track and complain about body roll is just like taking a Ferrari sf90 to an off-road proving ground and then complaining that it got stuck!!! No sense at all
It's not really good value for money, when you consider the total ownership cost over a few years as this is gonna lose lot more money in depreciation compared to other well established brands.
Stupid comment 😁😁😁 big brand in china with a good name for reliability, chinese consumers also very demanding ..well established brand out side Australia...but obviously not the car for you🙃
In China, we use car computers to download APP, and use SIM card traffic to receive digital broadcasting. DAB was covered by 4G and 5G technologies before it developed in China. However, I believe that Chinese manufacturers will be able to add this feature soon. The cost is not high, but there is no demand for DAB in the Chinese market. Imagine who would listen to music on tape now.
@@wcrash9361 maybe your too pissed to realise you have a flat for drinking 37 year's. I've been driving for 32 year's and have my front right that I need to fix.
Also if i could sware on here more you would have heard me! What the actual F!!!!!!! Why.... Just f'n why? Would someone need a damn car wash guide lines 🤦.... Im done! If people need that.... God help us all! Please do the world a favour..... And see your self out the door.... If you can't park... You need car wash guide (to drive in a straight line).... If you need hill holds in a bloody auto.... P.s no one is talking about who is looking at how hackable these cars are... No one is taking about who has access to the data of these cars!, with or without phone access. Where the servers are that hold your vital info... It might be great if you can track down and partner with a cyber team of some sort to actually start doing FULL reviews being as (cars are now large mobile phones).
Yet another reviewer who doesn’t understand Toyotas Hybrid drivetrain. It is NOT a CVT - it is a totally different system and it just happens to sort of feel like a CVT. Seriously, it’s basic stuff to get right and calling it a CVT totally kills your credibility.
