@@user-uu8wy5xs1t What a good idea, there is more going on in figure skating than in this boat sport.

There's a minimum speed before the start so a boat can't sit at the top of the straightaway and get lane one. And there are also rules when they can change lanes because if a boat gets into a rooster tail it will get washed down and stop the motor or if it's close enough to the boat in front it can launch the back boat a 100 feet in the air and probably flip it over and these boats are going upwards of 200 mph on the straights, so you don't want that to happen. These guys are racing at the razors edge on a course that's constantly changing sometimes deck to deck just feet apart sometimes even touching and it takes a lot of skill just to get back to the beach in one piece and if you can't appreciate what's going on out there too bad for you.

You want more boats in a heat? Come up with the money for more. Sponsor a couple of boats. There are at least six boats not racing that would if the money ( and spare gearboxes for 440) were available. Also, some courses literally can not be made wide enough for more boats at a time.
