2023 Honda Accord Touring Vs. 2023 Nissan Altima SR Turbo - Redline: Comparison Test

Family sedans aren't dead! Despite everyone buying SUV's, both #Honda and #Nissan are introducing all-new or significantly updated versions of the #Accord and #Altima. While Honda goes with the electrified route with the redesigned #HondaAccord #Hybrid, the #NissanAltima fights back with a 2.0L turbo engine and available AWD for the base 2.5L engine. For around $35,000 dollars, which family sedan is the better buy? Special thanks to ‪@BernonCars‬ for joining us to pick a winner between these two stalwart players.

Nissan has proven that there's no school like the old school. Honda's miniscule 1.5 liter turbo or it unbelievably stupid hybrid have taken the Accord right out of the market shopped by any enthusiast. The old 2.0 liter turbo was a decent engine about which a sport minded Accord owner could feel good. Not any more. I refuse to have phony science shoved down my throat by people who think they know better than I do about what I want to drive. Nissan stomps on Honda with its much larger turbo engine which is actually fun to drive. What Nissan should do is bring back its V6 to complement it 4 cylinder turbo. Horsepower, Torque and driving enjoyment can be found in the Nissan. Not in the Honda.

Exactly! That’s what a lot of people failed to see when this “23” accord first came out. They kept bashing it saying it looks like a Taurus. Like some ppl. Thing is ppl got used to the way over styling some of the car brands do today. And I don’t get why they way over style their cars. They are going to age horribly down the line in 10 years. But they don’t like at that. They only look at the here and now 🤷‍♂️. This accord does not have the over stying the previous gen has. So their for, to the naked eye it feels like a downgrade in terms of looks to them. Again because they got used to that over styling these car brands have today. Plus you add the decrease in power from 252hp to 204hp all feels to them like the car is a major downgrade. This new accord looks way better than the previous accord. Not saying previous gen looked bad. It looked good but this new gen looks better. It’s more refined, more sophisticated, more roomy, better mpg( for those who care about mpg, I don’t) . And it’s going to age way better in 10 years down line. The only thing the previous gen has better than this new accord, is just more HP/torque. That’s it.

@@phild326 I agree. Although I thought the previous accord looked unfinished up front and kind of cheap looking out back. This new one is so much better looking. I can forgive the loss of the 2.0 for the exterior and the much better interior.

I like this format video. Nice point and counterpoint between the two of you and enjoyed the comparison of the 2 cars. Putting the 2 cars in perspective in comparison really makes the video more engaging and interesting. Good job, guys!

The new accord has the same feeling as buying a mini van. It clearly says life won and I have lost. It doesn't say I wanted this car, it says I had to buy this car.

I have a 2020 Altima Platinum trim. It does have memory seats and an auto dimming rearview mirror. I'm not sure what the deal is with the 2023 model year of the Altima but I would imagine you can buy a trim level that does include those features. Just something to point out.

Think the Nissan is more attractive. But that Honda will give you 200 thousand miles easy and still be solid as a rock. Nissan, no way. No how.

The newer Nissans are made futher more reliable, that’s why it’s important to make sure the car comes with a great warranty , cvt problems are found in the years under 2019

My wifes 16 maxima has been flawless for 70k miles. Just change the cvt fluid every 30k and the rest of the car will last well pass 150k miles. The 3.5 vq engine is extremely reliable when taking care of

The Altima looks sharper, the Accord is more refined; neither one will raise your pulse with excitement, I will probably save my money and get a 2 year old Altima (since it's cheaper).

why do car reviewers always review the top of the line model of a car when like 90% of buyers can't even afford to buy it?

New Accord Touring is 40k, they are insane. New Lexus ES350 is 43k. Acura TLX is 41k. Why would anyone get a new Accord Touring spending such crazy money? Also new Accord has a huge wide center console stealing knee room, horrible design.

Driven both, and the new Accord HEV is so much slower compared to the old Accord 2.0T and to the Altima, that just for that I'd choose the Altima.

That might of been true in the past but I’m a tech at Honda and after 2018 these cars are shit. We have the back lot full with Hondas with blown engines, transmissions, turbos. We even have brand new 2023 Hondas with so many issues and the customers having to wait atleast 2 months to get there Hondas back because we are so backed up with broken down post 2018 Hondas

bold and aggressive doesn't mean good looking. You epitomize what's wrong with the industry. Everyone wanting big bold designs and grilles which is getting too much. Simple and clean is the way to go, like the cars of 20+ years ago
