i have this exact variant (and color!) and I must say, no regrets and I'm growing to love it even more the more we use it. I bought itnas a family car and I was willing to pay for the extra over the S variant because I don't really do much customization and prefer to use just the stock with some accessories so the upgrade in details made sense for me. The power and fuel efficiency is amazing. We've driven it in those steep bumpy side roads in tagaytay with full capacity (7 medium to heavy adults) and it was no problem. The size is perfect for both experienced and new drivers. Unpopular but I also love that it still has the traditional hand break over the electronic one. I was ok with not having honda sensing since my brother wasn't keen on using it and I'm a newbie driver so I prefer to get familiar with a more simple set-up. Lastly, it's a honda- reliable and has a high resale value in case you decide to let go of it in the future. The look of the car is also very neat and classy, it won't look dated even after many years. Ofcourse taste is subjective, but this one just ticks all the boxes. I'm no car enthusiast, this is the first car I've purchased and no buyer remorse at all. A very happy amd satisfied owner here!
Went to pick brv V after watching this and happy owning this for more than 6months now. Matipid, sobrang gaan, napaka dali i maniobra and comfortable. My wife even prefers to drive this versus our sedan. 😅😅 thanks for this review autodeal. I trusted your reviews and now enjoys driving both cars.
Bought the S variant and been using it for about 2 months now. At the time I bought the car, I didn’t see the value to add much more money for the higher variants and so far I feel like I made the right choice. The car is great. Power is great for a car of its segment. But definitely you can feel the difference when the car’s loaded and when I am driving alone. I feel like the car while is a 7 seater, optimal for a family of 4-5 only. Fuel efficiency is great too. Apple carplay is pretty clunky at times, but generally is responsive. Only wish they made the apple carplay work wirelessly. Ground clearance is superb. I have a pretty high elevation garage but the car breezes through it. Exterior, I feel like the car’s decent on its own. Design is super simple, but for sure is an upgrade from its predecessor’s old look. All in all I think if you are looking to buy a car within this segment, just go and buy the S variant unless you’re really into the Honda sensing. The S variant is a bang for your buck.
Definitely a 5 seater with a bigger cargo room. If city drive lang I guess okay Iang mag 7 person, pero for long drives mas comfortable na 4-5 lang + cargo
I also have the S variant. Tanong ko lang sir, naexperience mo na bang may tumutunog kapag ginalaw mo yung steering wheel kapag nakahinto? like a "tok" sound? not sure if i already have to bring it to the casa.
Great job by Honda for addressing the previous BR-V's only issue which is an ugly side profile, new model looks great, however, I do agree with sir Jack, the rear looks kinda bland!
I’d have to go with jack regarding the rear end. It just feels like there is something missing back there. Comparing it to its brother the WR-V, that one actually looks better imo.

You are right Caco. I also like the simplicity of the back, the front, the side, the overall body shape is simple and classic. I like the big window glasses for better visibility. It resembles my 2014 Subaru Forester.
This review is as precise as it could be. Love the bit where Caco emphasized that even with the BRV's "class-leading" power, it STILL would feel any added weight into the vehicle unlike some people would say otherwise due to its "highest HP and torque". As also observed when I got to drive one in the exact same variant, NVH levels weren't also noteworthy and so is comfort. Not to say it is a bad choice, far from it given that this is still a Honda and you can never go wrong with one especially with the balanced styling and sufficient interior space & tech, tho not as sensible as other subcompact MPVs. So really, just go straight to the S CVT variant if you really want the BRV given none of the higher variants are more refined nor comfortable unless you have almost 1.4M to go for the adaptive cruise control equipped VX.
Bought the VX last year, no regrets. Can do uphill climbs of close to 35 degree incline confidently even when loaded with 7 heavy adults and a stop in the middle due to a passing dog. Can even give me the need for speed easily, just dont expect power to rival todays turbo diesel SUVs. Wish it has more cup holders and the built in charging port in the second and third row, oh and a spoiler too would be nice
Caco has been complaining being in the driver seat of the new brv since that media drive to baguio. Something to take note of. Masyado mabait si Caco sa review kahit disappointing for that price ang naging impression nya. Honda is a Honda na lang siguro panlaban ng brv kung ganon which is madalas din na sagot ng owners pag tinanong bakt pipiliin ang brv over others in the same class.
Sorry... Jack is right, the back is too simple. It's out of sync with the styling of the rest of the car and even a simple chrome strip (which would be 'in style' with the front) would help. Failing that... I'd invest in some after market chrome tail light surrounds.
I Bought the S Variant, for 150k less than the V its the more sensible choice. If only the VX does have low speed follow with its cruise control and 360 degree camera that would be the best.
Was torn betweem this and the Xpander GLS. Ended up getting the BRV S. One reason: exterior. On RU-vid, at least for me, the Xpander looks sporty and all and the BRV looks boring. But up close and personal, my goodness I fell in love with the BRV taffeta white. Sobrang gara sa personal.
6.54, oxtually or actually??? Anyway, as always your reviews are the best in the Philippines!!! The humor you and your crew adds just elevates your channel to a whole new level!!!
How i wish, the outgoing 1.6L iDTEC diesel engine of CR-V should be an option for the BR-V. Even if it's spec out as a 2WD variant and with a price tag of 1.5million.. That is a VERY SENSIBLE OPTION, Sir Caco💪😎
I’ve seen this model here in Atlanta, GA but he’s from Canada. This is 7 seater? Just like a cry with 3 rows of seats. I’m Filipino American but I still gonna pick my Honda Pilot over this.
I Love the 45Degree knee, and a 90degree for both legs. hahaha,, very nice review sir, very informative no hidden (not bias). thank you and more power.
This is Honda's answer to those Chinese crossovers and those who think the CR-V is getting too expensive. It's boring as f and it looks like it's from 10 years ago to be honest, but i guess you trade features and brightwork for Honda reliability. I think this is good for school service duties for your kids.
Thank you in advance.
Hello everyone! I hope you come across my comment. I'm looking to purchase a car 2-3 months from now. My choices are the CS55 plus hype/stargazer/CS35plus luxe/Geely coolray and now I have considered the BRV. Which would you guys recommend me buying. I family of 3, always traversing the ever so infamous bumpy/clunky/flooding McArthur stretch from snfdo to bulacan.
ito pinagpilian namin, VX or V, pero dahil sa P95K price difference we choose V.. para sakin hindi ko nman kailangan lahat ng features ng honda sensing.
Hi, Sir Caco! Weird request. Can you rate the following based on their respective drive handling and suspension? Disregard the number of seats. Thanks in advance! Honda City RS Honda HR-V S Honda BR-V VX
I don't know if it's a valid enough reason but I'm leaning towards this over the xpander mainly because I feel a cvt would be more economical vs a 4 speed automatic. Also the xpander exterior is ugly as hell despite having a much better interior layout in terms of space and storage compared the honda.
This is prolly the best Honda car you can buy right now, given the stocks for the HR-V & Civic is almost zero to none and this is readily available in every dealership. It shows what Honda is prioritizing, eh? 😂
@@aubreybondocgood luck bud. and that bidding scheme by dealerships is real. Got outbid by someone who added ₱100K on top of the SRP for the HR-V V and they offered me an S instead. In the end, just went with the Civic RS PWP. Way over my budget but I ain’t downgrading to an HR-V S. hehe
Agree, even in the sedan segment, in the year 2000s, you can buy in cash a corolla lovelife GLI for a lot less than a price of a base model toyota vios of today. Inflation really took a toll on all products
@@fanutsky I did say "a few years ago". I don't know how you missed that. And that 1.3M price of a few years ago was already for the automatic variant.
@@fanutsky you don't know the difference between avanza and montero? You might have alzheimer's already if you don't remember. Either way, your memory loss isn't my problem but to be sure, maybe you need to get checked out.
Hi I love your show, I am in the market on buying a new car, But my brother keeps on insisting that we should get a brv..Would you recommend this car for me If I am Larger then Jack...I am a 6ft ex body builder so I am kinda wide and, like I said ex so now I have a belly. Iam in sort almost 400 pounds. I am for sure will be the one driving for I am the only one confident in driving in the Phillippines. pls id like your recommendation..the your size it doesnt look like i would fit into this car
I tried getting into a BRV with the front seat all the way back and down and steering wheel up and forcing myself into the car my butt was stuck in between the steering wheel and the mid pillar...dealers had to help me get out so embarressing...not made for big people American Size
XL7 is way more practical than this for cargo and people in the 3rd row. You dont have to deal with that flimsy shelf if you have to load something heavy on a flat surface and you get not only more cargo space but more space for people in the 3rd row despite it being a shorter car.
@@juanraffy9871 its powerful enough to do what it needs to, merge with traffic on the highway, go uphill. Its not meant to win drag races or win a hill climb, its a family MPV for crying out loud. I get the BRV has the fastest motor in the class, but what does that amount to? Not the best fuel economy in the class and bragging rights for being the fastest family hauler to terrify your family with when you put it through its proper paces.
Inflation has turned once great value honda family cars to luxury ones and that will make it not sell as good as competitors. The avanza/veloz/rush/ertiga/xpander will be more sought after due to lower overall cost, not even its honda name can save the br-v and it might just sell slightly above the hr-v. Many people hold 1million pesos as a threshold, some can go slightly to 1.1m but anything higher than that is rich people range only, upper mid class and middle class are very thrift that they will even buy chinese brands to save a few hundred thou. If honda wants to get larger market share of the Pinoy MPV class, they should offer a sub 1m 7 seater with decent comfort features, again chinese brands are offering top of the line specs for mid class price. The new BR-V is a great just just badly priced. I'm a Honda CR-V super fan but if I am to buy a family mpv in 2023, i would opt for the Toyota Rush.
Hmm, Honda's are always reliable and dependable, but I've always felt the style is for people who have reached retirement age 65+ like in the UK, they need a car they can put the grand kids in with a few toys to keep them happy with and won't it let them down. If they want to attract younger people with families then they need to restyle it.
With the price of Mid Variant BRV. I can get an Xpander or Stargazer with more premium interior looking design and other features as well. Hopefully magkaroon ng comparo this year ng MPV. It's been a while na din yung huling comparo nila eh😅 @Autodeal 🙏
Underpower both xpander and stargazer. Nagtest drive ako ng mvp cars before ako mgpurchase ng honda brv. Ganda sana ng xpander but too slow for me cannot overtake. sa fuel efficiency mas laman padin si brv. Just saying.
@@AntiJEVsInPH i bought honda brv vx variant. Going to batangas from Alabang with 8 passenger. Panay sila 5'7" above at matataba pa sila. Ok naman sila kasya and masaya naman. Take note 8 sila and kaya ko padin magovertake. Di gaya sa rush ko. Underpower. In terms of safety features ASEAN NCAP. Bago ako bumili yan muna nacheck ko Stargazer overall 66.48 and brv overall got 77.02 so mas kampante ako sa brv compare sa stargazer. As a doctor mas gusto ko safety and performance compare sa esthetics and underpower para sa safety ng family ko. Check mo nalng ASEAN NCAP para makita mo crush test nila.
That "more premium-looking" interior of the other MPVs are exactly as you've said it: limited to "just by the looks." In reality, going inside, the BR-V is actually even more premium-feeling than a Veloz or Xpander or Stargazer. We know it because we own one. And sure enough, the "premium-ness" amplifies further as you drive the vehicle, wherein the BR-V is by far the best in its class in terms of engine performance, both power and speed, and as well as its very light steering feel that wouldn't make you anything tired at all even for long drives. I have driven my uncle's 2019 Xpander, which is essentially nothing different inside from the 2023 Xpander, and by driving for almost 12 hours straight, going from Makati to Infanta Quezon back and forth, my body felt achy as we went home and relax. The suspension is also disappointing as well, because we could literally feel the deep bumps on the road when driving the Xpander, unlike our BR-V VX that absorbs them very effectively. I've also driven our BR-V for quite a while already, and my body never felt anything tired or ached as I've experienced with my uncle's Xpander. Now that goes to show the difference between the two in terms of comfort. You know, it is easy to be fooled by the idea that a car is cheap-looking inside by just looking at the pictures, and as I was looking at the pics of the interior of our BR-V, I could certainly say that those pictures don't do justice to the vehicle itself, which is totally very premium-feeling in person. Granted, I've also already tried going inside a Toyota Veloz, which is considered to be a more premium-looking car in its interior than the BR-V, but in reality, it didn't really feel that way at all. Not in the bad way that the Veloz is cheap-feeling, rather, it is the fact that those who are saying that the BR-V looks cheap inside are definitely those that have never really seen or even tried going inside one in person. Of course, design is still subjective, but just to negate other people's negative feedback about the BR-V's interior, our family is having a lot of fun and is very comfortable in riding our vehicle, contrary to whatever other people are trying to say that it is uncomfortable and cheap inside.
