2023: How to Connect PS4 Controller to PC with DS4 Windows - Updated

Complete guide to setting up your PS4 & PS5 controller on your windows pc using the DS4 Windows Driver. Just connect your controller with cable or with bluetooth, then install the .NET Framework which allows DS4 to run. Once complete you just need to run the DS4 app from its unpacked folder, download any remaining drivers your computer needs, and hit start to begin using your controller for all your games.
This guide walks you through downloading and installing all required software and settings.

For those with a Dual Sense controller not working, click into Settings. On the right side of the window is a Device Options button. Click that to open a new window. Make sure Dual Sense Controller support is ticked/checked and close the window. Connect the controller again and press Start again on the Controllers tab. This should get your PS5 controller seen/connected.

i have no clue what i’m doing wrong but when i extract the file and open it up it just takes me to a note pad with a bunch of programming stuff

@@houstynpruett2277, nice lol. You got into the source part of it. Won't hurt. When you download it, just drag it to your desktop, the folder and try to open the file with the pinkish PS4 controller.

For controller to show PS buttons, just go to Edit --> Other --> Emulated Controller (Select dualshock 4) Thats it.

i mean, it's good an all. but the problem still is that my ps4 controller acts like some sort of mouse. when i move the right joystick it mouse the mouse and when i press the d-pad it moves the files. none of my other controllers i had does that, so how can i do to stop doing that? because i can't play a ps1 emulator without this controller close the emulator for one button.

@@jay_59_bt do connect, but for some game like Genshin Impact, Gyroscope doesn't work on wireless controller so, if wired controller doesn't appear on ds4windows then u can't use gyroscope in that game

You can do a thing called passthrough. But it messes up the controller being usable in so many games I just havent gotten around to it yet.

I ended up breaking my controller out of frustration because nothing would work. The buttons were not working properly, and it kept thinking that I was trying to play on and mouse. So I just ripped the thing apart.

For some reason mine doesnt connect or show up on ds4. If i connect it via cable I get a notification that a wireless controller has connected, I have tried it with bluetooth and still doesnt work. It's really weird because I have used DS4 previously and it did work. I dont know if its in the cable or something. Please somebody help. And sorry for my bad english I'm from Europe.
