HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!
2023 is done and it's now time for another year-end megamix! I was really not sure if I would be able to make one this year, but somehow I managed to make it through! This year marks 10 years since I've been doing year-end mixes! I cannot believe I've been making these for this long (tho I only got better in the second half lmao...)
2023 was a year of a lot of new connections for me. Even though, there were some rough patches, I was able to make some great memories with the people I love. I also got to experience my first K-pop concert with Dreamcatcher which is something I'll keep preciously in my heart. Anyway, I feel that 2023 was filled with songs that were easier to the ear. So, I think that had its good and bad as there were a lot of bops, but also I feel the year doesn't stand out as much either. But, that's just my opinion lol. Also, in 2022, we had 2nd gen girl groups coming back, but this year we had boy groups (INFINITE, UKISS, TEEN TOP) making special comebacks which was great to witness!
You might find the main theme of this megamix random and weird, but honestly, I feel a lot of songs this year inclined towards flavors for some reasons (or maybe it was always the case and I just noticed it this year XD). So, that's why I wanted to make chapters based on different flavors. From the soft & 'Sweet' innocence of love to its 'Sour' & acidic energy to its hot & 'Spicy' sensuality to its 'Salty' conflicts to its 'Bitter' & healing factor, 'TASTY 2023' is a 16-minute long K-POP MEGA MASH-UP featuring 262 songs (including those that only appear as instrumental samples) that will show you the journey of a couple coming into 'Harmony' after going through and combining all the flavors of love. Well, I hope this was understandable lol.
NOTE: I know 'Spicy' isn't technically a flavor/taste and more of a sensation, but I couldn't resist using this as a chapter with the amount of songs that could be used for it. Also, think of it going with 'Umami/Savory' which is missing.
The process of this mix was a bit messy, but I don't think it was as all over the place as the last one. I pretty much had the main ideas and insts of each section found. I just needed to do a lot of cleaning and structure changes as I progressed with this mix! My main issue was the transitions as I was struggling to not break the flow too much, but I hope you'll enjoy the mix!
I'm sorry if your favorite artists/songs aren't featured in this mix! I can't add every single song that was released in 2023 because it would be way too impossible and I think 262 songs is already a lot! If a song is not here, it's probably because I couldn't find a place to fit it musically and/or lyrically in the mix. Also, keep in mind that there's limited space in the mix for the songs. So, please refrain from asking where or why a song isn't here! All the comments of that nature will be ignored or deleted. Anyway, I'm sorry again if your favorite artists/songs aren't in this! And don't take offense if a song has a shorter part in the mix, it was really hard for me to find a place for each song!
P.S: Early in 2023, we lost a precious soul, Moonbin. It was really devastating news to hear as not only he was my bias from Astro, but I always felt warmth and bright energy from him. This is why I would like to dedicate the last chapter to him, highlighting and celebrating his life and beautiful soul. May he rest in peace and all my condolences to his friends & family. I hope he's in a better place ♥
