You can get the cornering response, braking etc. of an 18 on 16's... Just pump those tyres to 48PSI ... And you don't have to worry about hydroplaning as well since hydroplaning speed equals 16*√(PSI pressure ) kph ...so at 49 it's over a hundred kmphr with good threads
We are on our 3rd Kia. we selected Kias because if you buy the second car as soon as you finish paying for the first one (5th year), you can have the 2 cars covered under the 10 year warranty while carrying only one monthly payment (for the second car). I am not sold on the "EV only" platforms, but I think that my next Kia (with God's help) is going to be a plug-in hybrid. Thank you very much for the review,!
Think the best answer here could be it's Niro-suiting? Not the most luxurious materials indeed, yet nothing cheap either. There sure are plastics here and there. Feels just like Niro, the predecessor.
Thank you for the great review and allowing us outside of Korea to have a first peak in detail of such great car! Does the car really not have 360 camera view (or as an option)? What kind of parking assist it has when you put it in reverse or try to park? Thanks!
Nah, just a typical reverse cam. There's a kinda bird eye view cam but it's to notify the driver that the trunk is going to touch the wall or not - done by software.
I have a 19 Niro hev Touring and I love it as much now as three years ago . Great car . I'd say that this new one sounds a little quieter and smoother . Don't like losing the shifter , oh well . I li,e the way the old one looks and this is fine .
Good looking vehicle - this car aspires to C seqment, especially with Business Line + Premium package. Just lack of 360 camera (even as an option) seems to be ridiculous...
Great Review!! i took test drive of Kia Niro 2022 model yesterday and i must say it really is a good car with value for money. I wonder should i go for it or wait for this new model ( not sure when it will be available in Europe). New headlights are looking cool
If you don't care much about the looks + good deal on the current model, then the previous model would be a great choice as well. The newer one got more expensive by about $3k USD, and like you said, it will take a while for new Niro to arrive.
I'm now driving Niro as a long-term test drive, not Genesis-like quiet, but is quiet enough and handles great at high speed as well. I've gone well over 120Km/h.
It runs on EV only at low speed and under certain conditions managed by the car itself, not manually. It uses and charges the battery to maximize the efficiency, there the BMS, Battery Management System, solely for that.
this car is kia niro plugin 2022 or 2023 looks different ? im asking because the AC system not look the same ( yours look like ev6 or like the sportage ) and the kia niro plugin that i see that we have here is look different
Models could differ from a country to another. The one I've shown in the video is for domestic(Korea) and NA market. There could be minor differences in terms of interior material and layout - at least that's what I've found out over time.
dude that what i need adjustable trunk floor because i have dog cage. i currently have a niro for my daily driving, yep comfortable for 4 people with 2 dogs and great on gas, you can even use a cargo roof box if needed.
Shout out to your assistant for the in-car second camera footage. I see Kia/Hyundai have seen the error of their ways and placed a rear wiper where it belongs ;) Will using the rear washer fluid clean off the backup camera? 6 more feet of flex tubing and an outlet won't break the bank.
I haven't watched it just wanted to comment as been waiting for your review. :) I'll watch it at lunch or after work possibly. Nice to see Korea has reduced the Covid requirements and you can be maskless again no more Bane look. hehe. I know it's the Hybrid but much will be similar to the full EV version I'm sure which I am hoping you will also review later in the year.
@@CarSceneKorea I'm looking forward to it. Hoping you can ask some questions of Kia around towing/roof box/plug & charge/OTA on the facelift eNiro/Niro EV when you do get to test drive it. :)
Love it! I'm waiting for it to be available in Spain The only design con I see is that the rear part is a bit more round, not as sharp as the front part. Just personal taste. And the rear indicators look too low and small, I would have expected them to use the big boomerang rear lights as the indicators too. Do you think the rear indicators are visible enough? Thank you very much!
Some great points. With these lights sitting low on recent cars, I actually failed to see a reverse light on the new Sportage, so I kinda freaked out seeing the car in front of me coming towards me.
For such a different engine (old has an Kappa Atkinson cycle 1.6, new has a smartstream with CVVD) I'm surprised the only difference is a few top end Hp gain and a torque loss.
@@jackfishcampbell6745 definitely confusing. Wikipedia would have you believe the Kappa ii and the Smartstream is on the 1st gen Niro. My understanding was the outgoing model has a full Atkinson cycle engine whereas the new one has variable valve control to give higher torque for the same power output. I have a 19 PHEV also, it has no visible Smartstream identification on the engine cover like the new model shows.
Front looks like Citroën, rear looks like some modified old Kia Ceed 2009 station wagon, and wheels looks outdated. Major change is in the interior of the car, which looks amazing.
3 weeks ago, I had a test drive with the current Modell and was dissapointed on the engine. When it comes to an kick down the Engine was very loud and was running rough. Is there any change on this with the 2023 modell? Additionally...when will the 2023 modell go on the Market? Thanks for replying!
The release would differ depending on where you are, but Korean cars reach other parts of the world starting after about 6 months. As for the engine, it is nearly identical one from the last generation, but as I've mentioned in the video, the shifts between the engine and electric motor is flawless.
I wish car companies would stop donating precious passenger room to the center consol. The new Ionic prooves it isn't necessary. Please put the shifter back on the steering column where it belongs.
35mpg is just not good enough in my eyes my old Niro did in 60mpg range.wish they would increase the battery sizes to around 100miles on plug in hybrids 30miles isn’t enough either
True. I would've done much better given I had sufficient time and effort to put some mpg. Shame the power train didn't much much of an "upgrade," but we know Niro's been doing great with that thus far :P
@@CarSceneKorea my 2017 Niro is a brilliant car just seems that they have upgraded the internals.I think I will hold out for when more fully ev become available something bigger than the ev6 more a sportage size shame they haven’t done full ev on new sportage
16" wheels 20.8km/L (48.9 mpg) 18" wheels 18.8km/L (44.2 mpg) This is the official mpg, what's clocked in this video certainly doesn't do the justice since it is a test driver.
Hi, I have a KIA CEED PHEV 2022. I'm very disappointed how the hybrid system works. If it low temperature outside (below 10 C) then the petrol engine always starts if the so if im driving under 10km it never runs purly on electricity. Or if the AC is runing the petrol engien starts. So the petrol enginen is always running when heating or cooling... My advise, dont buy a KIA
Sorry to hear that. There's quite the gap between entry level cars to mid/high level cars. Hyundai & Kia seem to be having quite the gap amongst other manufactures. Things you've addressed, I could not notice on this Niro. I really wish I could get my hands on Ceed as well, Korea doesn't get them :'(
I like the overall shape... but headlamp a little too busy, and I don't like the taillight functions down low in the bumpers where they are less visible in traffic and easy to break in urban parking.
