2023 Land Rover Defender 130 | The British Yukon XL

Great review! I just picked up our 130 a few weeks ago, we ordered in ~May 2022. We had a 110 that was amazing, but with 2 toddlers, the trunk didn't work too well for our gear on trips so, admittedly, that was our main reason to move to the 130. Overall, the 130 is everything we loved about the 110 but with more room. I barely notice the extra length driving and parking. On the highway, super smooth and a great car. Overall, I can say you can't go wrong with either 110 or 130, but I like the extra room on the 130, even though the 110 may have a little better exterior aesthetic proportionately speaking (but the 130 size / proportions have already grown on me).

I never thought I’d hear “G Wagon and Ford Flex” said in the same sentance😂. On the colour. That burgundy has grown on me. I could be totally wrong but as a Kid ,in Ireland, I vaguely remember seeing marketing brochures in the Land Rover dealership in the mid 90s for the 110. They always seemed to be marketed in that burgundy colour. I think they spruced up the 110 in the 90’s to offer a bit more luxury inside. I could be all wrong but Land Rover are traditional that way and maybe it’s a throw back to a previous era. Great video. Quality and editing is always excellent.

Just a heads up, the 130 is only 211 inches long when including the mounted spare. 201 inches without, so it's significantly shorter than the Yukon/Tahoe. Thanks for the review!

Just bought a 130 last week. Great SUV. Mine comes with two USBs in the middle row and two USBCs in the third row. Also there is another USBC outlet in the front above the glove compartment. Can't wait to drive it on snow! Thanks for your review.

This is the only SUV I would've own it bro.

Hate the idea of only one USB port! Who does that in this day and age? Also hate the 4 inch bump up in the rear when the seats are down. I need to fit 2 huge dog crates back there which means they'd have to sit back those 16 inches, and higher. Seems to be enough head room for them, but still wasted space. LOVE the shifter being on the dash! No more fat dog paws shifting me into neutral (or worse down shift!) while I'm driving because they needed to stretch out in the front passenger seat...lol. Not too upset about the obstructed screen. I can move my head...lol.

They launched a longer version for carrying more people but they decided to cut every single charging sockets in back seats 😅

I like the color, something else than black that everyone has, indeed some silver parts could either have the same blend or be just plastic, piano fake plastic black isn't always all that either. I need to add that sometimes I get seasick looking at the backsparewheel where the piano black does look nice, but quite often that line does not match the cars line. If you want to look cool or sell it, this line needs to match the cars. The car in this color is my shortlist for when I win the lotto.

that non-flat cargo floor, including the weird gap between the 2nd and 3rd row is... unfortunate. One reason I stuck with a LR Discovery instead. though the 130 has a more usable 3rd row for sure. if one uses it mainly for cargo hauling and don't need the extra people row, IMO get the 2-row, 5-seater 130 instead, it's more usable and flatter.

Looked into this seriously, but at $80K a Suburban High Country destroys this in virtually every objective category and its not even close. The Suburban RST even looks cooler than this. I like Defender, but I would only get the 90----that is the "cool" one.

Dont buy one. I have one with a driveline vibration and it's been back to the dealership 3 times, now the tell me it's operating within design limits. What crap. My ride on mower is smoother. Don't let them through you under a bus. Terrible customer support Rover, they are renowned for. Buy at your peril.
