Oh my goodness, what a REFRESHING review! The production value was high and you clearly researched the car PRIOR to filming. (What a novel idea, too bad most YT Reviewers do not.) You were informative and sprinkled in some comedy to keep it light. (I laughed out loud over the turbo noises! 😀) I agree 100%, this car could be driven modestly, but where's the FUN in that?! Mine is driven in Manual and Sport S+ all day every day, because (after almost 2 years of ownership) it's sooooo freaking good and f-u-n. Swap out the OEM tires for Michelin PS4S, switch to all synthetic oil, install a sport air filter, and take this car to the mountains or canyons. The IS500 will hang with the best of them; I've ran the North GA mountains with Lotus', Vettes, and every Lexus F product. Whatever is the next level above Fanboy, I'm it. 😈 Thanks for posting, new subscriber!
@@EyeDoctorJoe This is my 5th Lexus and other than the center console rattle of my 2006 IS350, nothing else (including the IS500) had a rattle. My ‘06 did have 210k miles when I traded it in for a 2016 IS350 FSport, so a slight rattle after that many miles is okay. 😅
Haha thanks Breeze. Funny thing is I was trying to get my own RU-vid off the ground RIGHT before I got hired as an editor for KBB. I’ll get it back going eventually… but I’m waiting for the kiddoes to get a lil older. Thanks for your support!
Great review Mike! Like the car but love it in that color. I always look out for the hood bulge when spotting IS on the road, an easy way to spot someone who made this fantastic choice and give em a resounding thumbs up as they pass.
not everything is about speed. 4.4s 0-60 is absolutely more than enough for me. you are faster than 90% of normal cars on the street. lexus is a great all round brand. most reliable, good luxury, and enough power. perfect for me.
Great review Mike. Actually picking one up tomorrow....Iridium performance premium. So excited. These vehicles are going away for sure but this one has it all IMO. Decent price, adequate tech although the cd player is a head scratcher in a '23, the 5 litre DOHC motor is the real star here. Combined with Lexus reliability....no brainer
As much as I loved driving this, it wouldn’t be family-life-practical because of the interior and cargo space 😢 but if the GS had a last F Sport performance now THAT would be for me!
My only problem is that the interior literally looks 10yo. I took a look at just a regular F Sport about a month ago at the Seattle International Auto show, and the first thing my Dad said when he sat in it was “WOW! A CD player! Damn the interior looks old!”
Lol…. Many people like this outsource their income management to a licensed professional. And they are paid higher with time because the rich people are getting richer. Simple🤓
I don't think I need a finance advisor. I can manage my own money and investments. I don't want to pay someone else to tell me what to do with my hard-earned cash.
That's a risky attitude, My friend. You might be missing out on some valuable opportunities and strategies that a finance advisor can offer. A finance advisor can help you plan for your short-term and long-term goals, optimize your tax situation, diversify your portfolio, and avoid costly mistakes.
I agree with You. A finance advisor can also provide you with objective and unbiased advice, especially when you are facing emotional or stressful situations. They can help you stay on track and avoid making impulsive decisions that can harm your financial future.
My Lexus NX 350 F Sport was not terribly comfortable, it was loud, and other than some really nice tech, it was soooo not a driver’s car. I traded it after a year and picked up a SQ5. The latter does not have the tech but it is so great to drive in comparison.
I mean the nx is never meant to be sporty. The f sport is a terrible proposition since it adding unneeded sporty stuff on a car that is supposed to be comfortable
Good review and i agree with not with two things. I own a 23 is500. The transmission is slow and clunky and the brakes suck. Other than that its great:) Good review!!
If Lexus would just improve the transmission, update the digital technology, and increase the volume of the exhaust note, it would be the perfect car for me.
So fun fact: this was a 2023 model. This molten lava color was the special appearance package color for that year. For 2024, it’s the blue color you probably have seen on the site. Sad, i know… but they’re both pretty cool colors!
Haha it’s a gold band for my apple watch. Swear i thought it was gonna come in as a matte gold (what i wanted) but it came in a BRIGHT shiny gold. I only wear it on special occasions 😎
@@ALMX5DPI agree. Don’t care about the interior much as long as it works. It has everything you really need. You buy this car for the v8 and that’s a strong enough reason.
Lexus has stepped up their game recently when it comes to interior (especially the tech). Unfortunately, it won't be implemented on this car as it's on its final lap. Thanks for the comment.
They need to bring back this beautiful orange color. Hate that Lexus is getting rid of nice colors. If I get a Lexus, it’d be either this orange or Atomic Silver. And seems like they’re getting rid of both colors 🤦🏻
Hmmmmm ,, im not the only one thinking bout slamming a big ass supercharger to this beauty . a proper stage 3 modification shall transform it to a beautiful beast classy way to baffle all of them M Power Owners ,, IYKWIM
@@ALMX5DP interesting I’m familiar with both the 4.6 and the 5.7, just never saw this 5.0.. but I don’t follow Lexus closely. Toyota never ran a 5.0, so probably specifically built for Lexus
@@ARentz07hey thanks for the info, I assumed the displacement and high revving with more hp than torque it had to have been in sports/luxury sedans, good info 👍🏼
@@ARentz07 I already knew the suspension setup, never knew that Yamaha designed the dampers. But hey you learn something new everyday. The suspension is actually the same as my 2nd gen gs300 lol
@804MRMAN Yamaha only designed the performance damper, which is a laterally-mounted damper that reduces chassis vibration. Just Google "Lexus performance damper," and you'll see what I mean. For some reason, the IS 500 is the only IS trim that receives a rear performance damper.
For something with this much power, I really expected it to be faster. The exterior is great, the interior is crap. The transmission also holds the potential back. Paired with the fact it comes dangerously close to the high $80k in Canada all in, I don't see the value. It's an anomaly for sure.
@@CapELarry A Tesla is the last thing to get. I've driven this car. The great engine wasn't enough to justify the cost. Everything else around it screamed "old".
@@ARentz07 The interior is essentially the same from late 2012. In 2023 approaching 2024, it's definitely not good. The switch gear feels noticably cheaper than other Lexus products, even less expensive ones.
lol gotta love the excuses and denial over how outdated this car is. Every FWD based Lexus has a fresher interior yet with their best engine they give an utterly outdated interior and somehow to the faithful it’s okay. You can’t make this shit up.
Lexus levels of refinement?? 🤣🤣 A bright orange luxury car with fake leather, an interior that looks 10 years old because it is, fake metal trim, and plastic everywhere. It's really hard to take Lexus serious as a luxury company all this car offers is a V8 from 2008...this is the car version of the guy that's loud and brash but offers no real substance........and it has the power of an M3 or RS5 but is as fast as an A4 or 330i smh
Superior build quality to all its shitty competitors. A RWD V8 experience that none of the AWD 6 cylinder fartcans can replicate. Faster than all in its segment except the M340i from a dig. Faster than all of them from a roll. Sit your ass down!
@@ALMX5DP Don't pay attention to Naveen. Every IS 500 video I've seen on RU-vid, and even some on Instagram, has had him in the comments hating on this car.
@@ALMX5DPNaveenthemachine ( the guy you replied to) is a mentally ill weirdo and can be found in every Lexus related RU-vid video’s comments section. Definitely on a spectrum. I believe he is Korean and well known for his mental health issues on the internet 😂
