This race will be fairly Vanilla if it's dry. Could be tricky in the wet though? Pray for rain and let the Brits do their thing! "Stay on your bike Danny"!
3min 55s is the dry chilling benchmark then. Positives: 1. I love Loic’s riding 2. It’s fast 3. The spectacle will improve if it’s wet Negatives: 1. This is at Regional DH standard, not UCI WC 2. Consequently it will run very, very fast 3. And as a result, there will be a continuation of this year’s high injury rate. Anyway, because I’m a hypocrite, I’ll be watching every second.
@@benoitcazauxx Fair enough, but even I could get down that with a couple of breathers on the way - and I’m 67. Go and have a look at the pre-opening 1199 Vlogs by Lewis and Remy at Whistler this week to compare the difference between something you and I can stagger down and something at WC level. Also, seek out Brendan Fairclough’s opinion on what a WC track should be: he recons it should have a few features only the top ten can race with slower chicken lines for the rest. An extreme view that I’m not sure I agree with, but I am certain this ‘cleansing for speed’ is a mistake and, sadly, we’ll likely have a terrible injury if something isn’t done. Hope I’m wrong…
Yeah, I can relate to this, I don't really like this track and the possible outcome as a WC race. I might watch but I don't like when there are so many injuries in a season.
And then you watch the preview of Crankworx Whistler downhill track 1199... This Loudenvielle track seems boring, not big technical sections except the grass off cambers and one or two big gaps...
I rode the track and the last third of the track is pretty steep,in the go pro looks like flat but far from that. It is not a very complicated track cos I'm bad an made it,kind of very old school track. Loic looks amazing fast.
I saw the 1199 in creekside and i will see the race on Sunday but it is not crazy scary compared to Champery, Val di sole. But Loudenvielle track is a joke. It is so annoying especially for France that tons of amazing track and bikepark. I hope we will see DH races in Chatel, Champery, Morzine one day.
@@skippylegrandgourou2069 ouais exactement bordel. Qu'est-ce que c'est que cette manie de trouver des pistes improbables ? Chiotte ils ont pris une piste existante et ont coupé les virages ? 🤔
This (and Andorra to a lesser extent) are what I think about when people complain about having the same tracks every year. (Leogang, Lenzerheide, FT Bill, VDS, Snowshoe, St Anne) Thing is, those tracks are really good! They're at the right difficulty and have a lot of variation. Are there really not that many places that have the terrain and can afford to put on a WC? Fees too high? Who knows.
hmmm.....is this an Enduro stage? There doesn't seem to be any defining feature or wow factor to this new course. Brand new location - clean slate, and this is all they could come up with - a single line elephant train?
unpopular opinion but I'm really looking forward to watching the racing on this track! I'm not sure why people are saying it looks flat...some parts look steeper than most other tracks! I'm a huge fan of simply cutting a rough path off piste and letting things figure themselves out. It's the opposite to tracks like Fort William which I could fall asleep watching. Get hundreds of riders down this one and I guarantee the track will evolve and keep everyone on their toes.
Lourdes is much more sensitive to rain mid-race (completely changes the track) and doesnt have enough uplift capacity which is one of the reasons UCI asked for a change of venue. That plus the fact that they want to run more disciplines at the same venue. Lourdes doesnt really have trails suitable for enduro --- the new UCI format is leading to more compromises
Off camber looks fun, could you guys build the first road crossing to be a proper road gap? Thinking of those photos of people back flipping over the Tour de France pack.
@@benrobinson1841 There are sections that look pretty fresh, and as it gets ridden in will probably blow out some of that dust thus exposing whatever rocks are underneath. The off camber sections will probably be super nasty if its a wet race, unless a rut cuts in. All things aside the track is still above my pay grade. lol
Thanks Loic! Can’t wait to see you smash it on race day! That track will be far more interesting when it’s wet! Gonna be fast. Weird as fuck little finish gate!
Thanks for sharing Loic. Was hoping for better track from France though. Guessing Lourdes was struck off due to the mile long queue for the uplift last year! Good luck in Fort Bill this weekend!
Top section is way too dull for a WC. Not sure what could be done to improve it, maybe some really big jumps. Gets better in the woods, might be interesting if it’s wet.
One positive is there will be no excuse not to have 100% of the track shown during live TV coverage. The winner will be the one with biggest quads. Pedal fest for half of the track.
Anyone here could hear what Bernard Kerr was asking for on his last interview? Bigger and better jumps! This track looks like those back of the early 90s when DH MTB was just begging.
This track looks mad fun to ride but for a WC level track, it seems like it’s lacking in that top level of riding challenge. If it’s dry, riders will be absolutely hauling.
Super piste. Bravo Mr PAULAN
UCI killing modern Downhill racing, the tracks is wonderfull but not the level of a Red Bull UCI DH Cup! Please keep Downhill bike far from bikepark tracks bancked berms. For more Red Bull Hardline tracks in the UCI World Cup please!
@@iwanttoliveinthewoods yes british weather sucks, but that was Welsh weather which sucks even more. So disappointed that it wasn't run, was really looking forward to a properly televised Red Bull event.
Is it just me or is this the worst dh track we've ever seen? No real root or Rock garden, a lot of sketchy of chamber flow and even more sketchy cutting through bikepark lines
This track looks like it's been chosen above the myriad of other potential tracks purely for ease of filming, but with no consideration for what looks exciting in said footage.. This is all about producing product (footage, & they can't even do that right) & very little about the race, what excites the riders or the fans.. This track looks tamer than most regional tracks in litterally any country.. How is this a UCI WC Downhill track? It has litterally nothing going for it.. No tech, no trees, no decent jumps, no lines, hardly any corners? No excitement.. Only the French fans will make this race remotely exciting.. They should look at the 1199 Steve Smith track in Whistler to see a World Class track 🔥.. Even Taniwha Downhill in Rotorua NZ is levels above this.. If UCI removes Fort William & MSA from the roster next year, then VDS will be the only track worthy of a World Cup race.. UCI is fucking horrendous..
comparing it to the Whistler's 1199 it looks... utterly boring :/ No line choice, mostly bikepark trail. Kinda sad :( Hoped for some excitement this season due to some changes happening
1998 called and they want there crappy grass track back, the sooner we move to tighter technical downhill tracks the better. That’s just going to lead to high speed high consequence racing that’s dull to watch. Loics bike setup looks just un real but I can’t help but feel this is going to be another dull open race. Is it too late to drop this for Champery and get some real racing back
Meh. Not worthy of being a DH world cup course. Heck Finale Ligure DH is gnarlier than this and that's an enduro track😆 The latest trail Remy rode was worthy of a dh world cup track. Awesome riding though.😅
