The Pure RWD starts at $69k. The 'gills' vent the headlights. That 'faux wood' is real wood. Thigh support, vented seats, etc is available on higher trims. Driving my Air GT for 2 years I've had no service issues or weird noises. This review mentions issues I have not seen. For the $90k this reviewer mention you can get a nicer Touring trim level with glass roof and other options. For accurate pricing see Lucid's site
Yeah right? This is the weirdest review of the Lucid air I have seen. He talks about it only being fast in a straight line, which defies the universal compliment even the harshest EV critics give this car, it handles like a proper sports car. Even CR mentions it in their review, that it goes through their swerve test at 57mph which is small sports coupe territory.
@@ajlbeer Yes, and CR is running the small "ECO" tires while doing performance testing. The review of this same car, Pure RWD, by Savage Geese is informative for comparison.
Air GT owner. Steven, the hood vents actually do function as cooling vents for the headlamps. They generated a lot of heat, and that is part of the cooling system for them. Because of the trim level you have for the test, Cooled seats, massage seats as well as thigh support are on the GT level, and options on the Touring trim. I agree that for the price point Lucid could have included some more bells and whistles with this model....IMO a mistake on their part. I think them reducing the charge level on this trim was a mistake as well. I have the glass roof, but being in the Texas Heat, even with the addition of ceramic tint on the inside, it gets damn hot. I personally added the Lucid inserts that block alot of that heat and during the colder months provide a nice insullation factor for the roof. There is a creap mode for parking that will make parking just like any normal car, but you have to enable it. You didn't mention it but there is a dog / camping mode that keeps the climate system on when you are not in the car, and it will run down to 1%, which IMO is way to low. But I don't think I will ever use it since I do not allow my dogs in the car. Sound system is a major disappointment for me even with the 21 speakers. You are correct there is no BASS response. My Ford Fusion Energi had an excellent sound system with very responsive bass, so this and the fact they haven't activate the camera system as dashcams is my two biggest complaints. Android Auto is still not active on any trim level, which is very odd considering their operating system is Android based. All the glitches you experienced, I have never seen. Very odd, you should tell the person who owns it to have the service techs reset the car via the service port in the trunk. A special Laptop with a dongle is required for this procedure, but it should fix all those issues. In my corner of far East Dallas, there are only 3 Lucid's, two Air GT's and one Dream Edition. But it gets tons of head turns and people pointing at it. I have even had people take pics and videos of it while I was passing by. I love that, and I'm very please that you focused on Range over speed. Range is king IMO, and if you need it the speed is there. Overall a fair review of the car eventhough you had way more glitches than I have ever seen, but since it happened on camera, you have to report what happened. Good Luck.
Thanks for all the excellent information! I was definitely not aware of the cooling vents for the LEDs, makes a lot of sense. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Love this car Steven, also the new technology of the Lucid is super cool. I wonder what creep is, I think it moves slowly even without pressing the pedal.
I'd love to own this car. Only think I'd change is that I would probably plastidip the "front lip" on the hood with the "Lucid" text matte black or vinyl wrap it with a carbon fiber vinyl... Car looks great though, both inside and outside.
Hey all, a few of you have commented about how the MSRP of the Pure RWD is now $69k, which is a huge decrease from the $90k I mentioned in the review. At the time that this specific vehicle in the review was purchased (it was a Turo rental), it was $88k for the 2023 Air Pure and it was only available in AWD (Source: www.caranddriver.com/lucid-motors/air-2023). Lucid then released the entry-level Pure RWD and gave it a $77k MSRP. In February of this year, Lucid reduced this further to $69k (Source: www.motortrend.com/news/2024-lucid-air-price-drop/). I will say that with a $69k MSRP, the entry-level Pure RWD is an extremely compelling option, and I'd take it any day over the other luxury sedan EVs (except maybe the i4 m50...). Anyways, just wanted to clear that up for everyone, thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions! :)
In order for vents to be functional, they have to actually be designed for air flow to navigate in there. That current design on that Hood would not be functional enough to cool down headlights. You would need a similar type of vent that you would see designed like on a Subaru WRX but smaller to actually carry airflow into the space. That kind of HOOD displayed is more aesthetically pleasing in design than in functionality.
SAME ISSUE I HAD TRUNK OPEN AND ALARM GO OFF HAD NO IDEA WHATS GOIN ON HANDLE BROKE ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED SO HEAD LIGHT TOO PAID 109 K APLE PLAY GLICHES TOO
Anyone actually looking for accuracy on this car should watch the Savagegeese episode or Hagerty or Carmudgeon. Too many inaccuracies here to even list. This lazy guy did no homework and just decides to make things up
This has to be the worst review I've ever heard on a Lucid. He's clearly making shit up as he goes. If you were to listen to this review and only this review you would really hate this car.
