Trying something new here. Longer format, less scripted - just testing the waters to see what viewers like. Give it a watch, let me know whether you like this type of analysis, prefer the shorter (10-15 minute) videos, or you're looking for something different.

Glad you enjoyed it. I like to think I know a decent amount lol. But I miss plenty live & it's fun to go back and break it down. It's added a new level for me to share too

Once again great analysis brother. Always look forward to your videos. I had a request. Can you do a video comparing both wr draft picks Washington and Washington please. I'm curious what they bring to the table and what's their positives and negatives are.

Appreciate the kind words! Here's a video you can check out for a podcast that I'm on where we talk about the Day 2 picks, including both Washington's ru-vid.comvF8YV7F3dxs?si=pXRtxJGFrnkniwFO The more I think about it - I think Malik is a steal. I do like Tahj - but with the talent in the WR room, there may not be enough room for him, barring injury. However, unless Tahj has a huge preseason - I think he could be an ideal candidate for the practice squad.

Good video. Always have to take into consideration that watching a reply and breaking it down frame by frame is much easier than making split decisions live and in the moment. It happens a lot faster in real time. Fins Up

@@martinukpai7838 I've got some other videos on some different blocking schemes on my channel and will have an upcoming on one Duo at some point. But I have considered doing something on our running backs and their ability to read those blocks in front of them. As fast as Mostert & Achane are - their ability to read blocks makes them special

Nice work Eric. Keep these breakdowns coming. All the chatter is the OLine did okay last season. Not great but okay and management's decision not to really make any big changes is a bit concerning. Do you worry about Brewer being a little smaller at Center in the pass protection side of things or you think all will be okay? I'm still not convinced about Jackson or Eichenberg but maybe they both blossom this season. My thought is if Tua is pressured up the gut and the Guard positions being a ? mark it could cause problems for Tua. Any thoughts?
@OLCoachSmith63
@OLCoachSmith63 8 дней назад
Ok, so let's start with Brewer. He's not Williams. If Williams was healthy he'd have gotten 12-13m/year and been worth it. What I'll say about Brewer is that I describe him in a way that if you were creating a player in a video game with limited skill points - your center for this offense would look a lot like Brewer. The stuff he does well fits perfect in this offense, and the stuff he isn't as good this offense covers up. I think Jackson had a hot streak to start the season, but he is what he is. Fortunately for us - this scheme fits him really well too and he'll continue to be an above average player. Guards - likely will be Wynn at LG. Eichenberg will get a shot at RG - but I think the player who wins that is Rob Jones. Miami isn't going to invest heavily in the offensive line. So I think that the type of guys we've been getting are what you can expect to continue and we'll just continue to see them find mid-range guys with flaws - but fit this system well - and I'm good with that.

Great work Eric. Enjoy your analysis. Tua was not great here but this was a true team loss. Defense collapsed, O line struggled, coaching was suspect. Tyreek getting hurt in opening minutes on a screen didn't help either- hopefully we take some of those screens off Reek's plate this year.

My thing is mike McDaniel needs to run the ball more in some of this situations I think the whole Titians game was on coaching tbh
@OLCoachSmith63
@OLCoachSmith63 9 дней назад
Ok, let's talk about that - since this video goes through the play by playing. We obviously get the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. But outside of the drive where they ran twice and ended up in 3rd & 6 - where else should they have run the ball?
@roadtogreatness5347
@roadtogreatness5347 8 дней назад
I will only talk about the clips I saw why are some of this plays straight passes we were at the 13 yard line run the ball Mike calling fades to a injured Tyreek and tua didn’t have his best game but Mike said it himself his play calling was trash .. for the dolphins to make the next step Mike McDaniel needs to continue to grow as a coach and stop being pass happy overall good video
@OLCoachSmith63
@OLCoachSmith63 8 дней назад
@roadtogreatness5347 I think that's a scenario where being a Monday morning QB is easy. Look at the drives after the fumbled punt & then shortly after the Levi's fumble recovered by Chubb - run, run, run. So it's not that McDaniel is allergic to that. Sometimes he's going to lean more pass - it may not be the balance you want, but I think the balance is closer than what some perceive. Appreciate you watching & commenting!

@@OLCoachSmith63 I agree that why I said it was a coaching not just a McDaniel thing and I agree Chubb made a back mistake

That overthrow to Achane at 15:00 could have been better, but also would have been catchable if Achane didn't misjudge it and run toward the ball while it was in the air. I wonder if that decision was made due to the previous pass for no gain where waiting for it to get to him caused him to get popped immediately
@OLCoachSmith63
@OLCoachSmith63 4 дня назад
I'm not really seeing Achane run towards the ball on that. Looks to me like he was: 1) Running into the flats and cut it off because they didn't want him to get sandwiched on the sideline 2) the route was designed to come back towards the middle. Either way, he was still basically in the process of completing the cut back inside when the ball was thrown, which may have limited his ability to go up & get it - but I'm not seeing where he did anything that helped make that ball uncatchable. Appreciate the comment & analysis!

As a pocket passer, you have to treat the football like a hot potato.. I see Tua holding on to the football for guys like Reek & Waddle (those are his guys); but never compromise the integrity of properly reading coverage to get the ball out to the, soon to be, open receiver, no matter who it is!
@OLCoachSmith63
@OLCoachSmith63 8 дней назад
As a general rule - that's a very accurate statement. However, it's difficult to know exactly how McDaniel is coaching Tua. I do believe that McDaniel has Tua throwing into some tighter 1st read windows than other teams around the league because McDaniel trusts Tua's accuracy & likes his chance with his top reads to create something after the catch. From this video, I thought he did a good job of getting the ball out where it needed to go with some exceptions and a couple right reads, but throws that could be better.
@martinukpai7838
@martinukpai7838 8 дней назад
@@OLCoachSmith63 definitely being coached/green lighted to consistently take that risks for the tight window throws. But what kinda irks me are the crucial down and distance moments: that missed read underneath on 3rd down where, how you explained, Tua probably anticipated zone and instead was given man coverage; the ball has to be delivered on Achane chest to move the sticks and finish/closeout those types of games. Those moments are inevitable.. I just want him to elevate to that standard that level and become what we're going to pay him to be! All respect brother!!
@OLCoachSmith63
@OLCoachSmith63 8 дней назад
@martinukpai7838 Appreciate it man! There's certainly rook to continue to improve. Every QB is going to mis diagnose coverage. In Tua's case, he is right more often than others, and I think that gets overlooked too often because it's harder to see. (That's not to you specifically). Instead, they see the QBs who are here than Tua on the other end - and that's more flashy. But those guys are going to miss too. Kyle Crabbs just posted an interview with Kurt Warner and posted a snippet on X of talking shut extending plays on front and and back end of plays - which I think is a great explanation.
@martinukpai7838
@martinukpai7838 8 дней назад
@@OLCoachSmith63 definitely have to watch that!! But you're right, Tua reads defenses quickly, gets the ball out of his hand quickly, matriculates the ball down the field quickly... when he's in rhythm. Which brings up an additional concern.. the interior offensive line. The success of this offense hinges on those three guys being linked hip to hip like triplets. I hope that unit figures it out sooner than later! Thank you boss.
