Hi Guys and Gals.
Thought I'd give you my first imp[ressions of my 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX as well as a brief tutorial on the display. I watched MotoJitsu's video on his test ride of the 2023 Ninja 1000SX and seems as though the dealership failed miserably in showing him some of the functions. He thought the quick-shifter may have to have a first service before being activated but it's only a matter of turning it on through the menu's "vehicle settings". Same with the RPMs shift limiter. Various types of display screens with both day and night time backgrounds. I do believe that the display background will also change on its own as it gets darker out and vice versa.
There are functions I didn't even get to but that's another video.
The ride is a comfortable one. Ergonomics are very nice. My back and knees have been battered and abused throughout my youth but I'm just as comfortable as can be on the bike. Seat works quite well but the real test would be a day trip. If need be, the seat can be upgraded.
The quick-shifter is smooth as ice both up and down. At first, I wasn't sure I'd like the down-shifting but once I used to it and found that sweet spot, oh baby, I'm hooked.
The suspension just soaks up the bumps and dips like they were nothing providing you with that sweet, plush ride.
Would I recommend this bike? You betcha! True, I haven't owned it long but what I've experienced so far is fantastic. And every time I go out it gets better as I get to know the bike better.
As much as I love the 2021 MT-09, my decision to upgrade to this bike will definitely prolong my riding experience.
BTW, I still have the MT-09 and I'll get out a video on it soon.
So, ride well everyone and Happy Holidays to you all.

The motojitsu review was one of 30 reviews in 30 days, or some gimmicky thing like that. None of his videos went into any depth and often times he didn't even know basic controls like the ones described in this video.

Why is this a negative thing?
@erocnw1341
@erocnw1341 Год назад
@@theunluckycharm9637 It just depends on what you're looking for. If you want a first impression based on a 30 minute ride and without really knowing all the features of the bike then this type of review is fine. I appreciate the reviewers who put more time on a bike and take the time to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the bike better. I like a lot of motojitsu videos but felt the 30 bikes in 30 days was kind of gimmicky and not very informative.

Here in cold and wet Wales, I've not ridden my SX for a month so to get my fix I check out any new reviews. I too saw MJ review and thought it was to generic to be worth anything and certainly doesn't constitute a 'review' Whilst the Dealer bears some responsibility, the onus is on the reviewer to be prepared. I look forward to your reviews this year (already watched your month one)

How is the turn in around corners…I demoed an older 2014 or 15 and it seemed to require some effort which I also read others complain about? Also how does the transmission shift in manual mode..the one I rode did not seem to have much feel to it? Thanks. I am still looking for a bike btw…
@OldGuyRidin

I have found no issues dipping into a curve. I can't speak for others, but I practice a lot of different drills, and it's helped me with my connection with my bike. Manual shifting is as smooth, if not more so, as the quick-shifter. Again, my training has brought me to have a greater feel for the clutch (which is light. I can hold it in all day it's so light). As with anything, you have to invest a lot of time and effort. Hope this helps you. Good luck with whatever bike you pick.

Wonderful review! I am considering the same bike, but I am a bit confused. I would like to ask you a couple of questions, if you do not mind. 1) Have you had any experience with fillion so far? 2) Have you considered the Suzuki GSX S1000GT or even Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ before making the purchase? Fillion comfort is important to me, because it is the main reason why I am getting a sport tourer: To be able to travel around Austrian Alps with my partner. Since my main purpose is to do long trips, reliability is also extremely important. For some reason, Suzuki as a brand represent reliability to me. Do you find Kawasaki just as reliable? On top of that, I want to be able to commute with my bike. How do you find Ninja's urban performance?

@OldGuyRidin
@OldGuyRidin Год назад
So between 60 and 78 mph (100 - 130 kph), it's not bad. The stock windscreen has adjustments for 4 positions. I prefer the lowest position. It puts the wind on my chest. The higher positions put it more on my helmet which interferes with my motovlogging. There is a touring windscreen available if you're more into the longer commute. I actually purchased an Aeromax windscreen, which is sportier. I use both depending on the ride. Only takes a couple of minutes to change them out. Hope that helps. Ride well friend.

I had an '11 N1K and loved her. Modded her into an upright, lightweight ST and thought it was my last bike. Sadly, it was not a good 2-up bike so she left my garage and was replaced by '16 FJR1300A, which I also love. The '23 appears to have resolved a few of the issues from my '11- cruise control being the biggest issue- but the clip-ons on your '23 look straighter and flatter than my former '11's did. Even w/Murph's risers, the slip-ons downward angle bothered me on longer rides, putting my wrists into a less than comfortable position. I'm gonna have to stop by a dealer and take a test sit.

In its highest position there's too much wind on my neck and helmet. This can be a nuisance especially if you motovlog. The seat feels great to me and I think whether it may be good for everyone is relative. It's easy to recommend a bike. However, people need to use their own judgement on whether that bike works for them. Good point though about height and weight and perhaps inseam. Also, there are alot of bikes out there the 1000sx included that give you the opportunity to have the suspension adjusted to one's own height and weight. In the end, one has to use their own common sense before deciding on...well, anything. Ride well.

Wow! Fantastic video! Two things 1) I'm a MotoJitsu fan. I hadn't realized how much info was missing from his video until I saw yours. 2) I literally just got back from the Kawasaki Demo Truck in my area. I rode the N1000 and was unable to engage the quickshifter. A guy who rode it before me was also unsuccessful. We spoke to other riders about it and concluded that maybe it only worked above a certain rmp. Or maybe it only worked shifting up, but not with downshifting. Thanks to this video, I'm sure it just wasn't turned on. It's so weird because the spokespeople informed Ninja, ZX6R and Versys 1k riders that their bikes had quickshifting. They explained how it worked but never showed or mentioned that it had to be turned on. I'm on a FJR1300 now. The Ninja is a top contender for my next bike. Thanks for sharing. Ride safe

Ride it like you stole it. Every single one of these bikes do a full dyno run as soon as they come off the line. The “keep the rpms down” is for legal purposes, not engine break-in. My break-in procedure for any Japanese bike is to ride it how it was meant to be ridden but change the oil at half intervals. Instead of 600 miles, I changed mine at 300, then 600, again at 1,000 and then 2,000. Every 3,000 after that or once a year.

There are a few videos out there comparing the Ninja 1000sx to the Suzuki GSX 1000gt. You should watch them. The Suzuki's brakes aren't as good though they're Brembos. It's also not as comfortable or refined as the 1000sx. The windscreen isn't adjustable either. People more interested in the "sporty" aspect of the bike prefer the Suzuki. It has 10 more horsepower than the Ninja but the Ninja has more torque. Lastly, this is pretty much the first generation of the 1000gt as a sport/tourer in comparison to the fifth generation of the 1000sx. Ultimately, it's up to you. Just thought I'd throw some information your way. Yeah, the gloves are Highway21 but they're only good in temperatures of 40 degrees and up. I'm looking into the RST Paragon 6's. Not interested in being tethered to the bike so battery powered are my preference. Any suggestions? Ride well and best of luck with whatever bike you choose.

I'm currently riding a BMW S1000R (since 2016), great bike, but my aches and pains are winning the battle (early sixties). I want to keep the speed but also be comfortable after a two- or three-hour ride and occasional out of state trip. I have my eyes of this bike, but I cannot find a dealer that gives a test ride here in Florida. I'm reviewing as many videos as possible before I pull the trigger on this bad boy. Need your honest opinion, I'm 5-7, 32 in seam, with lower back, knees and neck pain after riding my bike for three hours. Do you think the ergonomics on the Ninja would work for me or should I look for something more straight up like a GS?
@OldGuyRidin
@OldGuyRidin Год назад
Without knowing the conditions under which your pain is generated I'd rather not give my opinion. I can tell you this, I have a fusion with instrumentation L5-S1 in my lower back. I have a total knee replacement of my right knee and after two surgeries on my left knee have osteoarthritis in it. My rides haven't exceeded 2 to 2 1/2 hours as yet and I'm having no issues. Your height and inseam seam very good for this bike. That being said, get to a dealer and just sit on one for a bit of time. It may give you an idea of the ergonomics. If it feels right, believe me, the suspension will take good care of you. This is my opinion. I also suggest you talk to your doctor (an orthopedic one if possible should your aches and pain concern joints) and see what he/she may think. Best of luck.
