still has a CVT it is not a nice car as long as it has a CVT. These cars are lucky to make it to 100k while competitors often make it to well over 200k
@@snotellekSsomeone has a 2019 Altima with 400k mikes. What do you think makes cvts bad? Cooling is the biggest factor, and they have a adequate transmission cooler. By the way Toyota also uses cvts so what are you talking about?
@@snotellekS Im a service advisor for Nissan and the big issues is people not doing the 30 to 40k fluid service for the CVT. Had a few in here with original CVT at 250k miles just maintenance is kept up on them.
I am on my fourth Altima since 2015 all leases and daily drivers, I have put on over 100.000 thousand miles never had a problem with the CVT and only took it them in for regular maintenance for cars that cost me in the mid twenties I have no complaints.great value, by the way the last three were all SR s
@@TypicalGuy84 I went to Moon and back with Altimas and Murano and only 2015 had CVT problem (unnoticed by me, but found by service computer at 60k). Other than that truly zero problems. Not like with my new Toyota...
@@sallyjb6209cvts are different because they don’t have gears so they don’t shift. It’s a continuously variable transmission (cvt) which means it’s a single gear run by a belt, and the width of the belt determines the gear ratio.
People seem to put out false information online about situations that they have no idea what their talking about. Altima is in top 10 of midsize cars….has been around more than 25 years….only reason why those people are having CVT issues is because they don’t do proper maintenance on the transmission treating it like an automatic. Altima is a great car….Jason don’t make unreliable cars!!! I have 2022 midnight edition (with the fog lights) excellent car! No issues at all! Don’t listen to people who say CVT issues….Altimas are all over the road for a reason….new and old!
I love this refreshed Altima looks better wish had 9 speed automatic but the CVT is no deal breaker. The interior is nicer only thing wish did something with the taillights changed them into (LEDS) Overall a beautiful car that looks sporty.
I have a 2012 Nissan Altima S 187k miles, no issues, and only do basic maintenance on it like oil changes. Time to let ol Betsy go and get this new one.
Im a Nissan fanboy. I Worked for them for 5 years, mostly only owned nissans and infinitis my whole life, and even I can admit the Jatco CVT is terrible. They literally had major class action lawsuits and recalls because of this transmission. You got lucky, be blessed. Even the most unreliable cars ever made have good examples
Hey Sir, First of all wanted to say I love your videos even when Im not in the market for new vehicle. I have a question, hoping that you will be able to help me with a answer. I am a full time 'RIDE-SHARE' and am currently driving my 2016 Altima SL that I purchased brand new for work and it currently has 406,492 miles on it. Mt new car is going to be another Altima but I can't decide to go with a SL or SR. I love the colors that are available with the SR but I know it has "sport suspension" and I am tryin to see from you if the "sport suspension" on the SR would be different from the SL. I drive 10-12 hours a day Im cruise if it would beat up my back from being so hard or is there not really that much of a differencein the suspension and ride quality? Thanks so much and keep up the amazing videos!
Cvts aren’t that bad you just need to maintain them like any other transmission also try avoiding driving hard all the time lol I have a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer gts with over 200k still going string (a cvt) now a second car 2022 civic sport also a (cvt)
I got one sr and traded a 17 sv. The dual climate control was available on the sv. The new sr does not have it but is a new csr and not a big issue for the climete control. I barely use it on the older car
@@fah5680 build quality, both materials and the assembly. A bunch of electrical issues, basic mechanical issues, CVT, poor fuel efficiency (by modern standards). I'm 44k miles into the ownership and it's been a nightmare for me, literally the best example of a planned obsolescence phenomenon. I know it's a stereotypical thing for Nissans, but those stereotypes are there for a reason.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Subaru RIP The styling is nice but you can't drive the car around the block and determined that's its better that a Subaru. Currently my 2016 Subaru has 240,000 miles on it. Let's see if this new model can last that long.
@@adriancooper78 Even Toyota that's the most reliable car brand has tons of recall. Every car companies have recalls. It's better they recall for faults, than make consumers bare the loss. So what's your point exactly?
@@adriancooper78 you make it sound like titans and frontiers are just rolling away everywhere. It was a small batch that they identified. My Titan has no issues. It’s alright though, one day Toyota will flat out own Subaru😂
Great job as always, Ben! However, you lost me at CVT lol. Nissan CVTs don't have a very good reputation for reliability and I've owned 2 Altimas from 2005 and 2007. First one was decent but wanted more power so got the V6, but the engine started to go shortly after the warranty expired so I traded it. I had a 2005 350Z convertible as well and loved that car. Never had an issue with it.
Nissan’s CVTs have been great since 2018/2019. Those cvt issues all noobs complain about are a thing of the past. CVT’s are great. If you want a cheap car and drive fast with it, buy a Miata, or a Toyota GR86
Depends if you want to trust an engine from subaru then that's cool wif you're not keeping it over 200k. Everyone I know with a subaru have oil issues and cvt issues a few of my coworkers have had 2 replace the transmission because subarubsays its not serviceable but it is lol
why is Nissan killing off fog lights for 2023? my new 23 Versa SR didn't come with any either, but the 2022s had them. all i have on my Versa is just some fake vents that doesn't do anything, just like the new Altima
Another vehicle with a CVT and sub 200 power numbers. All new vehicles are extremely expensive or have low power numbers. Can we please get something in the middle.
I would die of embarrassment not having led taillights. I would pray to die.. the turbo sr engine is built in. Japan. A great plus and the wheels aren't goofy looking like the standard sr.. it's a real nice and fun and fast car .turbo that is.
Everyone in the boardroom of Nissan should be in prison for their CVT. I remember the old Nissans would easily go over 200K with no issues . I will never buy a Nissan again!!!!
I still wouldn’t buy it… cvt for me is ok as daily driver, but the deal breaker is the transverse mounted engine.. I like ALL the pulleys facing me wen open the hood,..
This car has nothing on Subarus AWD system. It's got a transversed engine! Subarus will be absolutely fine with their symmetrical all-wheel drive system. This is basic engineering
In all honesty besides the new looks. I still wouldn't buy this or trade in my own altima😂😂. Thiers no big difference horsepower wise, just a new screen whoopy do, small interior differences then a 2022 and 2021 altima. Like can nissan just change everything at once instead changing one single thing a year. I don't give a. Damn about orange thread or padded seats and wheel. Put some more power in these things cause it takes 20 years to go from 0-60
Also, if you live in an area with a lot of pot holes, I would not recommend those 19 inch rims. You will have issues like bent rims, CV axel damage, and wheel bearings get destroyed.
Stay away from these, Altima have a history of issues up to replacing the engines. There’s a reason why you hardly see any on the roads. (At least here in Western WA)
@@odnamorvr3053 Nissan Altima Sport Rally (SR) with paddle shifter, AWD. Nissan is adding all the “sporty” elements to this “economic car”, You don’t even have to drive hard, the CVT will fail on you. I have a 2017 pathfinder, babied it since I bought it, did CVT fluid servicing, and etc, the CVT oil pan already started leaking..hummm… not having much faith in Nissan anymore.
@@jerryding2359 These Altimas have been out for 5 years now from 2019 and no CVT failures. So speak for yourself, but many others have their Nissan for years without any CVT issues.
The title is laughable nissan ends Subarus career pretty much the same engine horse power as my 2017 nissan altima sr no major upgrade the tail lights look horrible my 2017 nissan altima sr looks better pros great on gas comfortable vehicle with lots of leg room. The bad cvt transmissions questionable many isuuses with the cvt price tag on this vehicle should be 25,000. I am not impressed at all he said turbo no thanks on a cvt transmission
Never thought this guy gave a good review; mostly an opinionated personal ideas of what he liked. But saying an Altima with a CVT (which appears to turn him on) is going to replace a subaru. For what, 0-60, maybe. Off road...not close. First it is a JATCO CVT; noted throughout the entire internet and in real life by Nissan owners to be a complete POS, while Subaru CVTs are pretty darn good. Then the sticking out exhaust pipes...really. Ever take this Nissan hunk down the roads Subaru owners take their Subarus will have those nice round pieces bend to crap in no time. But it proves again, he has no idea of what he is supposed to be reviewing even if he is not actually reviewing but offering his opinion. (Do a search for Nissan CVT problems or JATCO.) And to be fair, most of the people giving "reviews" of vehicles on youtube are just offering their opinions more than just a review. A review is a factual representation of the vehicle.
CVT transmission 🤦🏾♂️ complete failure & reason not to buy....does nissan realize who it's competition is? ....u black out the nissan logo, & tweak the front facia a little...n that's it ...who is designing nissan, wayyyyyyyyy behind in everything...
Don't get too happy. Nissan CVTs are suspect on reliability. It will strand you. Hey Nissan do us a solid and put in the 9 speed transmission you put in the Pathfinder. CVTs suck anyway, on top of that unreliable. Nissan's especially. A great car needing a transmission to match.
