As promised, here is an update on our one loft race (OLR) results to date for the 2023 pigeons racing series. I’m pleased with how our racing pigeons are performing against the biggest names in pigeon racing in the US 🥰 Wish us luck as the final pigeon races are in a week or two!!

Your experience with BGR pretty much sums up my OLR experience for 2023. Had one that did great at the Apple right up until the last race. Fingers crossed yours pulls it out on the final. Best wishes on the Florida Derby as well. You've got a lot of nice birds. Excellent job promoting the hobby. I remember one of your early videos under JAR loft is one I used to watch over & over and I would wish you made more back then. Glad to see my wish came true 😁

Jason! You are WAY too kind, my friend! Thank you for your encouragement and support. I have a few more videos that are a long time in the making that will be similar to the JAR loft 10 incredible things about racing pigeons video. Hopefully I'll get those out soon. BGR can be considered a yearling race now. Congrats on your money winner at cuevas!!

Yeah, their timeline got pushed back this year and now it is essentially a yearling race. Still one of the best run OLRs out there in my opinion. Thanks for the well wishes!

Great video James. Not a lot of people want to show the losses and be transparent. To me being honest and showing the good, bad, and ugly only helps people appreciate you and your channel more. Good luck with the rest of the way and in 2024. I’ve got to get some pics of the YBs from the Macaloney and Greek Iris/Cup of Joe progeny. Hopefully they do well. One from each are headed to OCC futurity and the other 2 to OLR.

Most of the time, birds that do well in the short distances, don’t do well in the finals. There are few that’s consistent. Majority of the final winners are slow starters. Good luck this 2024 season 🍀

What would be some good one loft races for someone to start off with?

@@landofthefree4307 Thanks! I promised to show the good, bad and ugly. Hopefully good outnumbers the other two 😉 A lot of people like the Apple Cup bc it doesn’t charge an upfront perch fee. Factors for selecting an OLR may include climate/terrain and what your birds do well in, the cost, the record of returns and training, transparency and communication, etc

Poop pale baby had no where to go but up. Started from the bottom lol. CONGRATULATIONS!. We sent 4 to the FallBreedersClassic. Lost all but one, she got 7th 🤷‍♂️ pretty happy with that! Congrats on your success.

Great question. Short answer: Health has to be spot on. Training has to have been significant. The right Feed is also important. For long distances they will need more fat rich feed (safflower, sunflower seeds, peanuts, etc)

Collaborators are responsible for all fees. Birds must be entered into a major OLR that I approve of. If there is any winnings it is split evenly between me and the collaborator.
