Great overview of all the models. I got the M10 and ended up doing almost all the upgrades (MRP HAZARD Coil shock, SRAM AXS XX TRANSMISSION, Industry Nine Enduro E300 Wheelset, Rockshox Reverb AXS Dropper) myself. Did choose the Fox Factory 38 Fork. Have owned 5 different high-end emtbs since converting to the dark side ~3 years ago and can unequivocally state the Orbea Wild is far and away best emtb I've ever ridden (this includes all my riding buddies emtbs as well). Have a custom YT DECOY Core 4 MX that absolutely shreds the dh.

I was particularly interested in this particular video because I bought the Orbea Wild H20 two months ago after reading watching rave videos on RU-vid, the last bike I bought after RU-vid endorsement was the entry model Specialized Turbo Levo which I loved (2019) - got stolen! My concern is that the Ebike brands are soliciting paid reviews of their top, most expensive models from the popular RU-vid channels, tellingly these paid reviews all come out at the same time, literally. There is a big problem with this platform - the reviews profusely embellish the super expensive bikes (some of which may be true of course), however, ordinary joe like me are much more likely to buy the entry level bikes in the hope that they ride very similar to the top models. EMTB - ordinary joe/jane - middle aged with kids, short on time, relatively new to or returned to biking, investing oversized sum to feed his/her hobby. None of the top earning channels review the entry level bikes, nor do they actually say anything negative because of the conflict of interest. Hence, it is not clear, who is this bike for? The beginner, or the pro downhill enduro ace? We hear far too many numbers - so many millimetres or angles this and that (chain stay, BB, reach etc.) and not enough about how they ride and whether these bikes are value for money? Hence, the RU-vid channels are complicit in letting the industry get away with hastily thrown together lower end bikes that are seriously flawed, and still demand thousands of dollars/pounds/euros! My view after 2 month ownership is a degree of disappointment. The H20 is a monster truck, way too heavy, I did not expect that given that the top product is 20.8Kg! This is a major problem for intermediate/ early biker. The sheer weight detracts from being able to jump, turn, develop skill, and the poor fork/suspension platform can only described as dull and lacklustre. The internal battery and the ridiculous complicated headset with internal cables is just nuts. Importantly, this is a front heavy bike, much more noticeable in my size small bike with big 750 battery taking up the whole length of the down tube. It is difficult to convince this bike to jump (more speed, more hop) and then control the tendency of front end dipping. Why oh why do I have to spend several thousand of hard earned cash to bring it up to speed? Should I really even try to bring the weight down - not possible. The result is that 2 months down the line, I am desperately trying to sell the bike and buy a Specialized - the market, as it is, I can't even get half price for a 2 month old bike. I do not believe the Orbea Wild 2023 Alloy models are value for money - period. It turns out, all the R&D went in to developing the carbon race winning models. There is a unhealthy collusion between industry and channels/social platforms that promote these bikes - it makes it impossible to get an honest view of products that are more expensive than the cars we drive.

How heavy was your old levo? Almost all alloy full fat emtbs are now around 25kg. Seems unusual you found it all a surprise. Couldn't you have went into a shop and checked it out before committing?
@bikespike711
@bikespike711 9 месяцев назад
It isn’t just the weight (26Kg for Orbea, 22.5Kg for my previous bike) as I point out. It is a combination of factors (suspension/forks/ weight distribution to name a few). There isn’t anywhere near to test. My views, of course you may have an entirely different perspective.

Sorry to hear that the H20 is a disappointment. Just to be clear I am not getting paid from orbea for my videos. My intention in this video was purely based on what I think has best value or bang for your buck based on the specs of the different models.

@bikespike711 9 месяцев назад
I am sorry Frankie, I am not getting at you. You make your position very clear in the video. I appreciate that you are trying hard to find value for money.
@chrisanderson8578
@chrisanderson8578 9 месяцев назад
@@bikespike711 oh I do see your point regarding the suspension, the front fork is effectively a throw away part which is quite ridiculous. You'd think they could stretch to a Yari at minimum. I recently had a Levo Comp Alloy on order but then realised I had been a bit hasty and was swept up by "sale" prices. I cancelled that order and I'm now considering the orbea wild. The h20 was on my list as I've got some good parts to transfer to it (fox 38 etc) but your comment on weight has me thinking to check out the m20 as an alternative base. The prices of all of them are pretty ridiculous really.

No way would i downsize the battery, I kill my 625wh battery on a good amount of my rides. The main reason I'm looking at this bike is for a bigger battery. Maybe not the best advice.

I'm looking at the 2023 Wild H30 but with some concern/hesitation and comparison with the 2022 Specialized Levo Alloy Comp. The Wild H30 can be purchased for $5,600 CAD, the Levo Alloy Comp at $6,200 (both on 30% markdown). So we're talking $600 difference. Key differences ate battery (625wh vs 700wh), fork/shock Fox Rhythm Float 36 / Fox Float X Performance (Levo) and RockShox 35 Silver/Fox Float DPS Performance (Wild), and most concerning, the brakes SRAM Code R 4 Piston (Levo) and Shimano MT410 2 Piston (Wild). Testing one or both would be great... if either were available locally. The Wild is 2 hours drive from me, the Levo is 5 hours drive (one way). At bare minimum I think I'd want to upgrade the brakes on the Wild H30, and question whether that can be done for approx $300 CAD to keep the total cost below that of the Levo. The fork and shock can be future down the road upgrades. It would be great to get the H20, but that's $7,000 CAD, so not even in the same pricing realm as the H30 and Levo Alloy Comp.
@frankiesemtb
@frankiesemtb 9 месяцев назад
Very tough choice! Brake upgrades are definitely needed with the H30. The suspension on the Levo is better. But in the long run you’ll want an upgrade. This is the issue I’m facing with my Levo comp alloy. Question for you. How mechanically skilled are you with bikes? Lots of people have complaints with the Wild due to the headset routing and the internal battery.
@KDubber
@KDubber 9 месяцев назад
@@frankiesemtb Mechanical skills and knowledge are a work in progress and lacking lots of specialty tools. Things I've done I've done once and used lots of guidance from videos etc and a friend. Willing to learn but also trying to balance cost of the required tools, chances of success vs damaging the component and weighing against getting an actual mechanic to do the work. I've done the install of a new dropper on a friend's bike (that's gutsy of him to trust me). In the winter I've done removal and deep cleaning of my drivetrain (cassette, cranks, chain), swapped out stems, tubeless tire setup, and rear shock service. Things I'd call just scratching the surface having done each thing only once. I do this in the winter where I can take my time, if the bike is in pieces for weeks there's no matter because we're not riding for 5 months due to the amount of snow. The headset cable routing I view as something that's just likely to be an annoyance. I did wonder however how the battery and motor configuration would impact internal routing of cables and brake lines, if they are their own dedicated channels that you can just fish them through from the top and they'll appear at the exit point, or if it requires more technical skills in dropping the motor etc. Originally the Levo was $6900, leaving $1,200 headroom for upgrading the Wild to get it equivalent or better components than the Levo (mainly brakes and fork). But price drop to $6,200 cuts that down significantly.
@frankiesemtb
@frankiesemtb 9 месяцев назад
@@KDubber Sounds like you have the mechanical knowledge! so we are back to square one. I've ridden both bikes and they both perform very very well.. both are great all rounders. Orbea will ride a bit more aggressively and you have a bit more choices for shock selection with the orbea wild vs the Levo. But the H30 will need more upgrades to get it dialed in. Its hard to go wrong with either selection honestly!
@KDubber
@KDubber 9 месяцев назад
@@frankiesemtbAfter some further consideration, weighing the costs of upgrading the brakes and the forks, I opted for the Turbo Levo Alloy Comp. Out of the box it has better components that will be suitable, though not totally perfect for the riding I'll be doing. I'll still likely look at upgrading the fork and shock at some point, and I'll see how I feel about the brakes (never had SRAM before), but at least they are 4 piston vs 2 piston. Put a down payment today with pickup in March (the shop is allowing me to put it on layaway vs me financing the balance so that I only pick it up when Spring has sprung and trails re-open!). With the $600 price difference between the two, I could have upgraded the brakes with $200 left in my pocket, but the fork would still be a question.
@frankiesemtb
@frankiesemtb 9 месяцев назад
Great choice! Been loving the Levo.. I think either bike you'll be happy! May I ask what type of riding you do? I plan on upgrading my Fox 36 rhythm in to a Coil with the Marzocci Z1 kit. I picked up the kit for $165 for the plunger and coil and also found a great deal on a DVO shock for $200. The shocks are already feeling really good! anyhow i'll be making a new video very soon.
