I never thought I’d be excited to see Cadillac racing… Props to them, that insane N/A V8 is the most exciting car on that track hands down. Cadillac is really making a comeback these days
It’s that time of the year, again! Lanky is bringing us the goods, again, and throughout the next 9 days! You sir are a legend! Thank you for what you do!
Wow I am really surprised by the 296 GT3’s.. they really do make just a noise. The new Porsche sounds kinda like the 997 RSR with the gear changes and I love it. Also the caddy and Acura sound beautiful, the bimmer seems surprisingly louder? The Porsche is hard to tell because I don’t hear it actually..
Those Caddy Hybrids are a good example of what a hybrid Indycar engine should sound like. With turbos of course. I understand that Indycar stressed the fast, and loud matra. However, they definitely missed the boat with regards to recruiting more manufacturers. The new GTP engine formula could have been an excellent opportunity for that series. The ball was dropped big time. Cheers to the 2023 racing season. 🍻 👏🏿 🎺 Let's enjoy this era as long as possible, and as long as the economy allows it.
If a new manufacturer wanted to join they would’ve had to do so a while back. They are switching to a new power train setup, i think 2.4L hybrid( could be 2.0L) in 2024.
They are aiming for 1000hp combined so on the mark there. You are right they should merry their engine combination with imsa, if a manufacturer could spread out their costs of an engine program on multiple platforms they’d be more likely to join.
Lanky, This year's cars absolutely look amazing. As always, the beginning to end of your professionalism in footage is remaining cutting edge.Hope to run into you again at Sebring.Enjoy all that Daytona Beach, FL has to offer. TR.
Lanky MF Turts best IMSA videographer and audio guy around! 💪😉👍 Great stuff man, awesome to see and hear everything and the new GTP cars up close, I'm excited for the next week!
I can't wait to get to the track after watching this. Thank you Lanky, its been great lately seeing your videos linked to in articles from other car sites like Sportscar365. It shows that you quality work is being noticed. I love your spot at the end of the pit road exit that shows the cars coming back out onto the speedway in the background. I tried to find it last year but couldn't figure how to get over there. Maybe I need a press pass. See you next week!
This is awesome. It is my first time following IMSA and as someone who loves to watch the broadcast of F1 testing, these types of videos are priceless. Thank you.
Maaaan that Whelan livery tho, woo00oo00oo but the real beast, the 01 in yellow and black - even easier to root for Renger and Seb now haha.. i love the black background for the GTP car #s too. Yessir, great footage sir, just sublime.
@Lanky Turtle Always appreciate your content! Great shots, especially that zoom in at the beginning of the video! Can't wait to see these guys at The Glen!
Thank you, thank you. Spring is not far off. Pitchers and catchers I bet are down there, art festivals are popping up, and spring break will start soon. Heck yeah, ooouch I pulled a muscle. LOL.
Iron Dames @ 10:54 & 14:33 Go Girls. Looking forward to seeing Rahel, Michelle and Sarah at Le Mans this year in their Porsche 911 RSR,and Doriane in her LMP2 Oreca also at Le Mans🇨🇭🇩🇰🇧🇪🇫🇷
The hybrid prototypes are so cool! Btw HUGE safety issue. Pit stop rules need to mandate hybrid engines are on in the pits, like in F1. If a car leaves or arrives in EV mode, they are so quiet someone is going to get run over for sure!
Well people should be looking down the pitlane anyway if they work down there. I doubt anybody is turning their back on race cars and just listens if somebody might be behind them.
I echo the comments about the Ferrari's, my gosh they look slipstream standing still...what a beautiful shot when it stopped for a moment...I'll be at Sebring this year (all four days) and will be in my own personal nirvana, the sights, the sounds, smells, obviously time to SIM race Daytona today...
You've been giving us great videos for a decade now, and I really appreciate it! Even if you're a Flatlander. 😉 Drop in at ten-tenths every once in a while. We're still hanging out!
As someone new to endurance racing can someone explain why there are so many more manufacturers in imsa than in wec? Is it all budget? And will imsa teams be in le mans?
Incredible as always Lanky - just me or could these LMdh things be given much more than 670 bhp & still be quite safe at Daytona - and overall how come high tech, is quieter? I cannot even hear those Astons
Brilliant, that was the smart move from IMSA/FIA combinned class. Also, the cars are recognizable onn the tracck, annd what's even better, they all look sik!!! :DDD
Wow that Cadillac and the BMW Look and Sound amazing Like. I cant wait what Cars these Companys build within the Next 7 years from Today. This is a Great Testing Gound for Hybrids.
