Creators like Bailey are so important for the growth of MLB among younger audiences such as myself. It’s really disappointing to see MLB continue to lack this insight. Not being invited back to the Winter Meetings is such a clear blunder. Things like this is why MLB continues to put up a losing effort in keeping up with the exponential growth of other professional sports leagues.
Clearly the TikTok chef loves baseball more than Bailey, and I'm sure the eye candy "musical artist" that probably can't name all 30 teams will give waaaaaayyyy better interviews than Bailey, I mean after all this video proves how little he cares about baseball and how little research he does. THE MAN NOTED THAT OPS IS INFLATED IN THE PCL, find me one "creator" on the roster that can name 4 teams in the PCL, or hell name 2 of the farm systems the teams belong to.
@@influentialdetour i use it for backup IF or OF prospects i want to stash....always something interesting to draft and you can always release them coming out of Spring Training if they don't develop
Shane Victorino another stellar Rule 5 selection, picked by the Phillies from the Dodgers in 2004 and was a large contributor to the Phillies 2008 WS win.
You just found the perfect way to break down the Rule 5 Draft. Took a few minutes to explain the general premise and the rules and then gave us current examples. Perfection 👌
I can not believe they didn’t give you a press pass for the event. Absolutely ridiculous for a sport trying to grow its fan base. Most consistent and top tier baseball creators these last few years. Sorry this didn’t happen, but I’ll still support you as much as I can like always!
I totally understand is this is a BRef integration so you're not trying to show Fangraphs or anyone viewed as a "competitor", but you can get MiLB wRC+s at FG if you just wanna reference them in the future to show the drastic league differences
Giants Rule 5 draft legend Blake Sabol had a .763 ops before the all-star break (everyone on the Giants fell off in the 2nd half) and a respectable .744 ops vs righties overall!!! He did this in his first year playing catcher (natural outfielder) and was ONLY bad defensively (not horrific). I see that as a valuable rookie season and he'll be a solid backup C/4th OF in the future for the organization.
Foolish continues to breakdown the game for all. There is absolutely no way that MLB can ignore your contributions to their game, Bailey. The amount of work and research that you put into to each video is carefully crafted, and with the clever touch of comedy involved, its hard not to love watching your videos delving into areas of baseball that lots of fans dont think about! Heres to getting you to next years winter meetings!
To me the biggest wtf was the Diamondbacks leaving Deyvison De Los Santos off the 40. I get he’s extremely young and raw still but he’s been hyped as a potential top 100 pick and finished the season really strong at Double A after struggling at first. Definitely could see team like the A’s or Royals who have no chance to contend taking a shot on him knowing this year is essentially a redshirt year similarly to Richie Martin a few years ago
I pay more attention during the off-season than I do during the regular season, god i sincerely hope I get to watch an A’s team the fan base can have legitimate hope in actually sustaining success
@@sabiebright4554 Yeah, you’re right. Shoutout to Elvin Rodriguez for giving up 10 ER to the Bronx Bombers in Yankees Stadium in a start that one time.
Loving the longer videos man! Great ASMR (not even being sarcastic here) (or facetious) (no seriously huge fan and can’t get enough of the content) take this message as you will
Gus Varland is, of course, the older brother of Twins pitcher Louie Varland, who flipped back and forth between the starting role and the bullpen last year.
Big Baseball is out against the boys over at Foolish Baseball and Foolish Bailey got hit in the crossfire. You should join forces and make your own baseball league (and not one in the middle east)
Er hat hald ein Germanistikstudium ... und er ist stattdessen einfach "deutsch" im Kopf geworden mit seinen Listen und Zahlen. gut organisierter junge!
As a huge baseball junkie I never really paid too much attention to the rule 5 draft idk if it’s because the Mets are never on really either side of things for it since they develop horribly. However I now see you can get a really solid contributor from it.
it's a crime that you didn't get a credential this year especially with it happening in Atlanta. Hopefully they change their tune next year -- you're a very important younger voice in the baseball content creator universe. You deserve to be there and you would have provided value if you were there.
given the rule 5 draft history of the blue jays, i think they're due for an upside player! troy johnston looks like that power bat with 1B/Corner OF flexibility, but hed most likely head into the outfield; but deshawn kiersey would probably be that guy that management would rather opt for because of that defensive flex.
Surprised you didn’t mention grant mccray. While he has only played in high A, hes a phenomenal athlete stealing around 45 bases and playing great defense in rge outfield. Was the giants number 4 prospect before the year and only 23. I could see a bad team taking a flier on him and keeping him even if he struggles offensively due to the potential
i would honestly like to see how a team entirely made of 40 rule 5 draft players each year would fair against each major league team. i think a team filled with all the guys available this year could win against at least 10 teams in a 4 game series
btw, for Prato: The Saints' (AAA Twins affiliate) ballpark has been extremely hitter friendly this year. The offense numbers for everyone on that team has been super wonky. I wouldn't put that much stock in Prato's high numbers in AAA this past year. I'd be pretty surprised if he gets picked.
Mr. FoolishBailey! What’s your favorite hitter archetype? I’m curious because you never seem to have a bias when it comes to the types of hitters you like. My personal favorite type is the guys who’d rather be shot than struck out, like Luis Arraez
Man that’s tough. One of my goals this offseason is to put together my own hitting metric based on what I value. The first drafts I did had guys like Seager and Betts up top, but I don’t really know if those guys have an “archetype” beyond being good at everything.
Burnes was used as a piggy backer for a good bit then at them at the end they get did relief him a lil just to keep innings low that’s why he has relief stats
Another recent minor league rule 5 draft pick to make it in MLB is Joshua Palacios of the Pirates (drafted from Blue Jays in 2022). Played 91 G in MLB in 2023, and STEAMER projects him to have 0.9 WAR in 81 G in 2024
Last year you were like I don’t know if I’ll go to the winter meetings again it’s more of a social event then to get work done but now this year you seem you want to go really bad, what changed?
Convenience. Last year it was across the country. This year it's within driving distance. But the biggest thing is I just wanted to hang with the boys. I could've still gone up there and hung out with the boys. But I couldn't have hung out with the boys at the greatest event of them all: The Rule 5 Draft
