Salomon have also spaced the instep buckle further from the toe buckle to provide boot fitters for opportunity to customise the instep area. Also provides a more solid heel hold as it's now at 45 degrees 👍
I’ve got some of these in 120 flex and wondering if I have the right flex. I’m advanced intermediate skier I would say. Also, wondering how much difference the flex adjuster make, for example on the progressive (soft) setting is it like 115 flex?
A lot goes into appropriate flex, more than just skier level. Weight, leg length, aggressiveness, ankle flexion, and simple preference all factor in. If you feel like they're too stiff, the progressive setting will take it down a notch, but these are not exact sciences when it comes to flex ratings.
I'm just fitting into the Alpha 120 S, 98 mm last and feels wider than my Tecnica Mach 1 , 130 flex ( great ski boots but I'm moving away of performace ski boots ) I'm surprised by how easily feels fine on the foot, most of my other I have to sweat the first five minutes! looking forward to put this S Alpha 120 to work! Thank you!
Great question! It's a little confusing, mostly with the EL. S/Pro is still the wider 100 mm last. S/Pro Alpha is the 98 mm last (formerly S/Max held that spot). S/Pro Alpha EL gets a race liner instead of a "performance" liner, so a little stiffer, a little more precise, generally not as comfortable, etc.
Thanks for the great review! Does this boot have eccentric rivet for upper cuff adjustment on both inside and outside rivet? I'm strongly bow legged, so I wish it comes with adjustment rivets on both sides for larger range of adjustment.
No, but the whole shell is moldable, and if you have leg angulation differences, the molding process does this work for you. Please make sure you have a flat and solid platform to stand on for this process. It's way better to have a boot fitter help you in this process.
Would these fit the same as Atomic Hawx Ultra range? I have been using the 2021 Atomic Hawx Ultra 120's in 28.5. If I wanted to get these S/Pro Alpha 120's is it safe to assume the fit would be similar?
Yes and no. They both occupy the low volume fit category in their respective lines, but the fit of any boot varies greatly from brand to brand. Traditionally, the Atomic fits a bit lower and tighter than the Salomon.
Hi, thanks for these videos, they are so helpful! Do you know if the S/pro 120 vs the 100 is too stiff for a guy who isn’t that heavy (140lbs), but still an aggressive skier. The 100 seems to have a different liner but is it purely a comfort vs performance issue? Thanks!!
