Just because they are taller doesn't mean us 6 ft 1 guys are not giants. I stand next to 6 ft 8 guys I may look up a bit but still the same density and just as strong.
Great event! Maybe it's just an allusion.. but it really looked like to me like some guys had to do a larger range of motion than others.. which I thought the whole set up was supposed to eliminate I could be wrong it just really did look like some had to go deeper to me 🤷🏼♂️ im probably wrong, as i really cant see with all the set up they did tbey could get that wrong. Its a real muscle burn event i think! Its like the reps looked easy then they just had enough!
This is such a scary event for me watching. I understand every lift they do is dangerous but the leg press like that and you see the knees... wowzaa... Scary if you accidentally push alittle too far...
Anyone else notice Brian Shaw was repping at his own pace and ignoring the referee? Dropping the plate waaaaaaay faster than any other competitor. Meanwhile, Singleton docked reps for taking hands off apparatus. Brian's event... Brian's rule. Bullsh*t
Well if it was in rules meeting that you cant leave handless than ruling is fair. Evan knew about it but probably forgot. Couple of his reps also was droped instead of lowered so all things considered it was fine.
This is all just planet fitness stuff, thanks Brian. It's not full depth and heir legs are so wide it reduces the rom even further. They also have elevated soles. But they can't drop it or the car will fall on them? 😆 Gavin gets a serious injury...oh it's just a bit of cramp. Dang even I could do that for 10 reps or more with a bit of training and I'm old and small. Brian is 41 but will maintain his strength a long time if he continues working out. The narcissism there is something to behold. Whatever strength they have is only due to their given ability. Not allowed to take your hands off but Singleton makes a gesture to artificially pump the crowd haha so deserving.
What's going on with that judge? I don't know that I've even seen a judge at strongman wait so long after a good lift to drop his arm and signal the good life.
Definitely.. just an inch or two makes a massive difference..(next time you are in the gym , go to a higher weight that you are used to and just test how crazy it is going an inch lower than u usually do..) u can't just let it be free max range of motion like u would in a gym. They are very much focusing on the safe 90 degree angle of the knee
Yes, with a squat , the weight being on u means u get your nervous system drained by having to just control your core etc. they are just different exercises, not comparable. Leg press is still a great leg strength exercise and especially to focus right down to increase certain areas of your legs. It's not 'squat or leg press' they both have their place. Squats certainly are one of the best overall strengths movements tho.
Ok, not being funny but people really don't get that u cant do crazy weights on a leg press in the same way u would in a gym..now i know some people do but its very very unsafe and u cant officially do that to guys in a competition.. yes the range might be a tad short, but do u know how bad even an inch or two lower would be?! Anyone ever tried a max kinda weight on a machine themselves? (I do not recommend) if i ever do really heavy weights on a leg press i intentionally go not as low as i can till that weight feels comfortable then work on max depth.. imagine doing max depth with a weight u don't even know u can lift on a leg press!! U would just be stupid. You cant just rock up with a standard leg press wack a car on it and say 'ok lads jump on and just do what u can max range' I do agree that some times it looks like shaw gets away with things, the whole competition really is skewed in his favour (all events being really focused on strict heavy heavy weight movements and add in that its at altitude that hes used to and most of the guys aren't, i personally think that needs looking at as they were really suffering, unnecessarily) but hey i guess hes putting out his money and all the time and trying to build a legacy not just for himself but for the sport so hey give the guy a little credit.
Are you stupid, not only can you not compare leg presses but these guys are in competition they’ve already done a ton of events. not to mention how shaky it is with a car on top . Most of the strongman looked like they had a lot more in them especially Brian and Evan
Good job Eddie Hall wasn't taking part because he would have faked passing out, after putting the safety latch on of course. As for this they deducted 2 reps off Singleton for taking his hands off, yet Brian was continuing reps before the ref was giving the signal, allowing less time under tension. Brian cheated!!
It’s a competition of strength, i think they went with that on the leg press for the competitor’s safety + trying to implement new events. But if this was a workout I wouldn’t count it as a rep.
