2023 Subaru Ascent review by The Straight Pipes. The 23 Subaru Ascent is putting down 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque from a Turbo 2.4L 4Cyl Boxer engine. At $53,995 CAD, would you take it over the CX9, Hyundai Palisade or the Kia Telluride?

Eyesight is the forward cameras, its driver monitoring system for the one that tells you to keep your eyes on the road…

What are hose silver openings in the lower front bumper? The mustang had some at some point, the ceviche has them, the ascent had them here. They are so randomly shaped…

We tried to go from Forester to Ascent, going to 3 kids. Liked it but in the end it's just not enough space or versatile enough. Ended up with the Ultra-configurable '23 Pilot Elite. Out of 15 cars we test drove, it fit convertible car seats the best, going 3 wide (yes including the mighty Sienna). If you had 2 kids and just needed more space, or had older kids, the Ascent would be fine, but we just couldn't swing it with 3 kids under 6. It'd be doable but why limit yourself to only one config where you HAVE to get into the 3rd row to buckle your kids. Or buy the super narrow width car seats for the 2nd row. Which if you're like us, have amassed 4-6 convertible car seats for your two (or more) vehicles.

5:49 to 6:06 I like how yuri and Jacob make joke about Subaru bad screen and parking 360 camera. I like how yuri said yo Subaru if need I can help you that funny and kinda embarrassing. 😳

I think its a great SUV but Subaru needs to update the interior and put a boot to cover up the shift lever….it looks like a shift lever from the early 2000’s….thats just my honest opinion.

We tested this. It's nice. Very smooth, comfortable and of course blessed with a very capable full time AWD system ...but in the end we went with the 2022 Highlander Platinum. The smoothness and reliability of the corporate Toyota 3.5 V6, the overall build engineering, resale value, long-term reliability and perhaps, just perhaps, exterior looks and features. They were about the same price but the Toyota Highlander platform is so far bullet proof whereas the Ascent has "suffered" from more than a few electronic issues and teething problems since its release.

They have issues with oil burning engines as well, I believe they have at least 1 recall regarding the oil issue.

Agreed, They have their issues. And as a family hauler / hockey commuter and daily driver for my wife and kids, the Toyota was the first choice as is Honda.I bought myself a weekend toy, a 2024 WRX but again.....I am fully aware of its short comings and longevity issues.@@danielmelendez9943

Not sure about the prices being the same. Highlander Base with AWD is $42k versus $34k for the Ascent. $8k seems a big difference, but that might be me.

We’re looking at the grand Highlander. My only concern are the turbo only options.

@mickeys-moto-yt Wity Toyota's 2.4T, I would zero concerns of long-term reliability including carbon build up or heat retention. Frequent oil changes, quality fuel and proper warm up and cool down is all you need to ensure.

It’s “ok”. Depends what you need for your driving style. I enjoy driving ours. It’s a 2023 and down low and around town it feels peppy. High end passing power on the highway is less good for sure.

@@AP-lh1bq i can’t soend my money on a car that is just “ok” i currently own a 2011 MDX with SH- AWD and 300HP, i live my car. However, recently i tested a 2023 MDX Advance, i was not impressed and the overall feel of the car was underwhelming in terms if performance and luxury. Now i am going to check lexus and last, i will test a BMW x5.

I'm cross-shopping with compact, mid-size, mass market, luxury, SUV, full-size pickup, mid-size pickup, compact sedan, mid-size sedan, and minivan. But I would also consider a hatchback.

LOL, all of that heat, 'right up your butt hole'! Subaru needs to include a bungholio specific first aid kit with these cars.

I know CVT is cheap and easy to put into cars but when a person pays for the highest trim, they have to start thinking they want the best and CVT is not it. I dont care if they say its a better CVT, its stilla CVT

Love Yuri. However. If you don’t have three kids yet don’t advise people on getting a bloody minivan!!! Lmao. No one wants a minivan. I got three daughters and rocking an RDX and RX and doing just great!!! Never once thinking I wish I had a minivan.

You will stop being anti minivan on the occasion of first door ding done by the children in a tight parking lot… oh those sliding doors, hail the minivan!
@NiagaraWeddingVideographer
@NiagaraWeddingVideographer 9 месяцев назад
Completely disagree. Minivans are far more practical, sliding doors have a larger opening for car seats and prevent kids from dinging the cars beside you, have more cargo space, and are usually slightly cheaper as well.

Subary basically either give your customers a new car ir just do away with it all together. This car is expensive, poor engine design, underwhelming power in a market that has so many better choices. Why do car companies like to give the consumer mediocre products? Because they dont care about customer and all they want is your money- yes corporate greed. Thanks Subaru for mediocre car.
