I personally like the new design more than the previous gen. Less stubby and has more personality. Finally, the stock tune is far superior and more reliable than the previous gen.
You keep talking about the stiff suspension and bumpy ride. I traded in my 2023 Impreza 5MT for a 2023 WRX identical to this one. I got a great deal on it. But feeling every bump is something I couldn't deal with for a daily driver, especially after being so used to how smooth my Impreza handled the bumps. I returned the WRX to the dealer a day later, and very luckily was able to get my Impreza back. It kinda sucks, because I loved the car other than that. Mainly the sound and no rev hang when shifting. I returned the car, and was like "Yup. I tried it. No WRX for me." Now I'm tempted to give it another try, but with a blue, cheaper base model they have now. Kinda like the infotainment screens on the base model more anyway. But the last time last week I gave into my temptation to trade for a WRX, I missed my Impreza too much as weird as that sounds.
This is such a great review. I was very close to buying a '23 WRX Premium at a discounted price. But the ride quality is too important to me. I don't want to feel every bump and pothole in town (we have a lot of them where I live).
The plastic cladding can be polarizing, especially the rear of the car. Paint color can mitigate the effect with white really showing the black plastic. If you like it or not is personal. I think the darker gray goes better with the flat black for my eyes but everyone has different view. Nice driving roads showing the handling and ride of the car. I always like your honest straightforward reviews.
Think there is too much black plastic trim around the wheel wells. Don't car for the back end. Love the 2.4-liter boxer turbo engine. Would Like the WRX in red on the head rests. SUBARU and WRX should be placed lower on the rear end with the WRX in red. Nice price for that fun ride. Heard the rattle and thought you were driving the Ford Rattler. Impressed by its handling especially on the sharper corners and braking. Corned nice and flat. Great review!
