"Only better" yeah, nah.. It's bigger, it heavier, with a longer wheelbase which makes it less agile. Also, perhaps less importantly, it's not as respectable or collectable. As the GR Yaris is the TRUE homologation special. GR Corolla is just a consolation offering for markets which do not sell the Yaris. Still not bad, seems like a nice beastly Corolla.. But I'd take the more nimble Yaris any day, if given the choice.
I'm not too worried about the new guy, I think he was the one who started up the GR program among other things. He says his dream is to "revive the Celica", so that's something to look forward to as well
Bigger and more practical does not equal "better". Its just a Corolla with bits added on, rather than a bespoke car like the GR Yaris. The Yaris is a far more appealing driving proposition.
You sound like a salty GR yaris owner. You should be happy toyota is making more cars like these. This Corolla isn't just another Corolla with bits added on, the whole underbody of the car is different to incorporate the rear diff. Body is wider, and stiffer. Not 'just a corolla'
@@relentlesspursuit6894 I'm in Australia mate. lol. The Corolla came first & has much more heritage and history. So if anything, this Yaris lives in its shadow. Again, don't be so bitter.
It's been a long time coming but Toyota have finally made it! Well done Toyota!! Has anyone had the opportunity to take the GR Corolla GTS on a country run (110km) zone. I am curious as to what it would be like on the open road? On paper it look great!
picked one up and have done some country road runs. it picks up great and is geared to be pleasant at that speed (6 gears) You will need to get use to which gears to get you in the power band as it comes alive over 4k. but plenty of poke and quiet while cruising.
Great job on this. While the weight gain is sufficient compared to the GR Yaris, the better seating position, better shifter, centered steering wheel, and usable back seats are a huge plus.
The title of this video is silly. The GR Yaris does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, I'm yet to see evidence of the Corolla doing quicker than 5.4, the Yaris is much quicker in the corners and has a better quarter mile too. The Yaris is a homologation, the Corolla isn't. The Corolla needed a bigger engine due to it's size. Sorry but the Corolla is not on the same level as the Yaris.
