We've just wrapped up a two-month long review of the all new light weight mid-powered Trek EXe e-MTB. It is certainly a very capable and impressive machine. In this video we're going to explore 7 details that we love about the bike and 1 thing we don't like...

Just got off the Rail 9.8XT for the last 20 months and got myself an EX-e 9.8. Pretty excited to test it out over the next year and see what it's capable of. Shame 9.9s aren't available here in Aus but maybe Trek will come to the party next year. Love that Yellow frame 💛

I'm pretty familiar with the Trek rail but I've always felt it was more e than I needed most of the time. Trading some power for a lighter package, it looks like this is the setup I've been waiting for. Great video, thanks.

I've had the 9.7 model since release week with Fox suspension and Shimano gear $11k Australian full carbon frame 👌. Last 2 weeks in Derby and St Helens. Really nice light bike. Flickable and Popable and a really nice light confident feeling particularly descending. Great to ride above the 25kph cut-out and even without motor On. Got 50km (13% left)range one day with 3 big long climbs. I'm nearly back to my birth weight at 65kg with riding gear and tools so I removed one token from Fox 36 rhythm 🍴 cutlery for better midstroke. I have 90Nm levo's and noticed on really steep straight up shuttle fire road at St Helens you have to put in yourself 200+ watts to get the full 300+ watts assist out of the brilliant designed 1.8kg motor. "If you have a go it gives you a go" . You can't bludge putting in only 100w yourself like most full power current Emtbs. If you are big guy buy a 90Nm Emtb and eat more salad 🥗. It's a great achievement by Trek and TQ and most hard core riders didn't realise it was actually a Emtb. But having said all that I am not getting rid of my other Emtbs as they feel great too in different beautiful ways. It's just the Vibe mate. E=Mtb²

Sweet-a$$ review of an initial gamechanger for the newer mid-power E-pony class. Just needs a TQ 60 Nm w/a 450 Wh battery and 160 rear/170 front for the Enduro trail rendering: the Trek Stash-e next year maybe? 👍 Looking forward to the other game changer Transition Relay Fazua 60 soon!💪 BTW Thanks for your trail-trials-esque skill-demo on the E-mtb, especially the j-hop loft over the log... graceful--smooth🤟🍻

Cheers Tom! You know what, 3 of us here at the mag have spent a chunk of time out on the trails aboard this bike and whilst we really love the bike as it is, all 3 of us have confessed the exact same desire as you; imagine how epic a 170/160mm travel version would be. Honestly, I don't reckon it needs a bigger internal battery - the 360 has proven to be the perfect balance, however yeah, maybe just a touch more Nm of torque would be the icing on the cake. That said, the 'drag free' TQ motor is absolutely mind-blowing as is. In summary: Bring on a Slash EXe pleeeeease Trek!

@@wx2999 unfortunately not sold in North America due to Trek's TQ50 proprietary domain. 😜 Plus, need a little more juice for turbo power mode. I'm waiting for the Transition Relay in Spring. You can get the same yellow color in the Fuel EXe 9.8 XT, too. It's more expensive with the same specs than the other colors, though. Part of it may be that it's Trek Project One that has some additional customization and options.

How come there's no mention on the exact power of the motor? You say everything from geo to battery capacity, but skip the exact power of the motor by just saying its a mid power ebike. It would be great if you took in consideration mentioning the power for a next time. Otherwise great video 🤙

A massive con with Trek Fuel EX or EXe is they care more about the bike looking good > performance. The $11.5k AUD EXe version has Fox's barebones Rhythm suspension, even the top spec EXe $13.5k AUD one comes with 2nd Tier Rockshox. The standard Fuel does the same thing, you pay $12.1k AUD For GX AXS version and you get bloody Performance Fox! But they'll put their in house carbon wheels which weigh more than a good alloy set + a fancy $500 RRP one piece handlebar that everyone hates. Trek MTBs are specced by industrial designers, not MTBers. This is a typical "I don't have the journalistic integrity/pull to actually make any real criticisms because it'll chew intol too much of my annual revenue if I piss off [insert brand]". Flow Mountain Bike are the same (probably worse). Predictably, every review is "Everything is the best" and the one thing they hate is something token like "the grips". That's the saddest thing about the bike journo industry: they can't make actual criticisms for the most part (unlike the auto industry. If Top Gear rags on the latest BMW, BMW can't not afford to not send Topgear another BMW to review again). If you want genuine MTB journalism, look up Seb Stott at Pinkbike, Paul Aston (private), NSMB (epecially Andrew Major and Cam McRae) and Blister Reviews (David Golay).

@@revolutionmountainbike thanks for coming through brother. But I was genuinely waiting to see what that negative point is. Most know the goods - it’s pretty clear this bike is great but the thing that most would be interested is the thing that makes it bad. Anyways thanks for explaining. I find Orbea to be a better value for the money.
@revolutionmountainbike
@revolutionmountainbike Год назад
@@michaelb9940 Honestly mate, 3 different members of our test team have spent time riding that Trek and no one has been able to come up with anything negative to say about to it. Honest to god. Me personally I'd love maybe a tiny bit more travel, but thats just to suit the type of riding I prefer. That said, the frame geo feels spot on, it's lovely and light, the battery proved big enough for pretty much every ride we wanted to do and the motor is legit next level. Given that we chose not to cover the spec of that particular bike, that's the only area you could maybe fault here and there. The frame and everything with Trek written on it scores a 10 in our books.
