I bought this exact car, (same color), in 2023. I opted for the Harman Kardon premium sound system package and also the sunroof package which includes micro-fine cloth seats. The micro-fine seats are superior to the seats shown in this video. I'd recommend getting these extras. It's an excellent car and a absolute pleasure to drive. Got some pep too!
My comments above list the issues. Megatronic 4200, gbox 3500, clock spring 1300, door lock 550 if you add it up over 8000. Thanks. Like i said fan boys like them but just have a look at the jd power survey and they rate at the bottom half. Sorry to disapoint. I was suckered in by the soft touch materials like most. And to save you the trouble vw doesn't want to fix it.
Just lease it. The price per km is nearly identical as if you buy a brand new and kill it with 300.000 kms. The only good buying deals are reliable Toyota or mazda / honda. 500.000 kms without problems
Great presenter. You explained things really well. I like the Golf but the material on the back of the front seats looks really cheap with those sagging pockets...a minor thing but it's expensive and I expect better.
We were in this market last year, but the poor value for money, bad reliability reputation and need for premium fuel put us off badly. For $45k, we could get the completely optioned-up Mazda 3, with a more powerful engine and a spec equivalent to the specced-up R-Line model. That was a very, very straightforward choice.
No offence, I certainly don’t mean any but I really can’t understand what you’re talking about. In 2020, I sold my 3 & 1/2 yo Mazda 3 Astina and bought a Golf R Mk7.5 (which is now 2.5 years old). I travelled more KM in my Mazda, I was living in a different place with different priorities but I can honestly say this: You can’t compare the Quality of the Mazda & the VW, it’s like chalk & cheese. You can pretend to think they are in the same class but the quality is far apart. I’ve owned many Mazdas and woukd describe myself as a fan but my Mazda 3 compared poorly to the Golf. In 3.5 years if Mazda 3 ownership I had a few recalls and several warranty claims. The dealer was ok & ultimately nothing serious failed but I constantly had niggling issues which were inconvenient, such as powered external mirror failures (& it’s challenging to drive 80km through traffic with no external mirrors because they’ve failed again & are locked in the folded position. The pain on the Mazda was thin and nasty, chipped easy and there were sone corrosion issues. I’m pedantic about maintenance & vehicle hygiene & car was always garaged and well serviced. I would best describe the car as, flimsy, especially if comparing to the Golf. My Golf at 2.5 years, no warranty issues, no failures, car is solid in every aspect 10/10. Golf is slightly heavier on fuel - say 25% but has almost twice the power & is 100x more engaging and much more fun to drive. Build quality - all golf. The Golf was more expensive but has certainly ruined me, I could never own another flimsy hatch again, which pretty much rules out all the competition. I could bang on but there’s no point……but to compare the cars, you really need to be realistic, build wise there is nothing else on the market that has the build quality of the VW, everything else is a compromise, after that, sure you can compare, they both have wheels, seats, bits n pieces but they are not apples snd apples, that’s all. Enjoy your Mazda, I’m keeping my 7.5 final edition as it was and is the last of the true Golf’s……..that’s the way I see it. 👍🏻
Where do people get this bad reliability claim from? This claim is so outdated. Volkswagen have not had any reliability issues for many years now. Anyway, 45k for a mazda 3 lol.
@@Liam-yr4uf it comes from not just anecdotal evidence, but JD Power dependability studies, which have consistently had Volkswagen and Audi well below industry average. Last year's result had Audi beaten only by Lincoln and Land Rover. Mazda is moving upward in the same way that VW did in the 1990s/2000s.
The two things that prevented buying this car were the removal of the "auto hold" feature (due apparently to the adoption of the torque converter transmission) and the ridiculous and unlit HVAC controls. I traded my Mk 5 Golf for an A3.
Got this car, lovely to drive but the touch screen element isnt great, why cant cars just have knobs for the heating. Also, the lane safety feature comes on all the time, which is a pain.
For the same price you can get an i30 Nline Premium with sunroof, heated/cooled leather seats, 150kw (rather than the Golf’s 110kw) and it doesn’t need 95RON. I could go on. Oh, and you won’t be treated like a mug by the dealer.
This car is garentee to break down . Have the current model and mk7 and both have cost over $8000 in repairs. The the new car market wasn't so tight i would get rid of them
@@petmoon125 I asked what issues you had with your cars and you didn't state any. The golf 8 should be covered by warranty. So what exactly did you have to pay for the $8000 on?
They definitely do NOT drive better esp from stop start, and around corners. The mk8 golf in the flesh in R line or Life guise is a beautiful looking elegant hatchback, compared to the weird shaped and external design looking cars you have mentioned. Also Mazda 3 infotainment and screen, terribly small and outdated now. Quality is actually better in getting rid of the dual clutch and replacing with Japanese Aisin gearbox..
@@comba06 sorry to ruin your mood but they Def drive better then the golf and have better looks and quality and the horrible touch sensitive button's you have on the upper trim levels are horrendous to use. Yes tha Mazda's infotainment is a bit outdated but If your looking for quality go for the 3, and if you looking for good looks you should go for the 308 instead. And the Mazda3 infotainment has been updated for 2024 to 10.25 inches in length.
