Shane and I headed to West Virginia for the 2023 turkey season opener. We were scouting some public land but were able to ger permission from a landowner who's property butted up to the public land. He said he'd been seeing some birds cut through his property regularly and gave us permission to hunt it.
Due to the amount of hunters out there we took his offer when we heard them gobble before sunrise. We doubled up shortly after sunrise. Was a great start to the WV season. It was my first WV turkey, also my heaviest at 22lbs and it had a unique fan. Overall, great experience and fun as all get up.
