My 2014 Ninja Zx14r was stolen 6 years ago. I was very attached to that ride and decided not to get another one until i had a garage. Now I have a garage and your channel content bike rev sounds have me ready for a used Zx10r. I cant wait to get the cash together. Good stuff!!!

Awesome, a small mixup with the charts at the end though. Should be stock : 168 hp. Stock exhuast /w ECU flash : 188hp . Slipon installed: 192hp. Slipon fueling correction 196 hp.

Impressive figures. Stock exh. with flash apparently makes about the same HP as my gen1 ZZR1400 with full exhaust, ECU and filter. Age difference is quite large obviously. Can't remember torque figures out of my head. Should try to find dyno charts. Still, anyway impressive considering displacement difference.

That's with 15% loss, I would assume you'd get more efficiency on the road when it's not strapped down right?

@@vistakayA modern sport bike that generates max power at between 12,500-13,500 rpm would loose about 13%, which is the case here. A car, by way of mass and scale effects, would be closer to 15%. On the road the difference would be negligible.

Exactly, i remember in the late 80s we had a 86 GSX-R1100 that a Swiss guy had brought with him when he moved from Switzerland to here in NZ. The Swiss bikes where so restricted that it barely made 70 hp at the wheel! Plus, due to legislation over there, it had a single rectangle headlight in place of the iconic dual round ones everywhere else got.

You have the best and most informative tuning vids on RU-vid. I drove down to your place in 2021 to have my ZX6R ECU flashed and put 10k miles on the flash with no issues. I ride the Blue Ridge Mountains from Blowing Rock to Asheville every weekend, about 5 hours and 200 miles every Saturday. One of my personal favorite roads is outside your shop, 276N thru Transylvania into Waynesville. NC Blue Ridge has some of the greatest roads and towns in the country and I try to hit everyone of them on the ZX6R every weekend. Lake Lure, Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock, Little Switzerland, Morganton, Marion, Brevard, Waynesville, Belmont, Asheville, Hendersonville, and the list goes on. So when are you going to become a Kawasaki dealership?

So you can put a slip on with a mid pipe, air filter, get some tune, and still have money left over rather than getting the s1k completely stock. That's why i said the probably the best SS you can buy right now

@@TheRealBhuado S1K is not 27k lol. If you ordered every damn M carbon accessory or part, sure you can get it there, but base price is 17-18k. So same or cheaper than a ZX10 actually. Probably cheaper OTD seeing as BMW’s typically have no additional dealer fees and the freight & setup are included in the total msrp. I got mine new, loaded, for 22k OTD back in 21. If you can afford a 19k motorcycle, you can afford a 27k motorcycle. Your comment didnt say “best bang for buck sports bike on the market”, it said “best out of the box sports bike in the market.” Which in my opinion, it is not. But you said it yourself, you are a kawasaki fanboy. Don’t get me wrong, I think the ZX10R is a great bike, there really isn’t a bad liter bike in the segment I’d say. Just would not even be close to my first choice. Just my opinion.

I want to send my ecu to you to tune it specifically I wish I could bring the whole bike to you to dyno. I got the full evolution akrapovic system and wanted to dial everything in and get rid of some of the silly ecu presets and restrictions

Kawi hp numbers have always been there.. the real question is, did kawi solve the issue of bottom ends failing by 20k miles? Everyone I've known that rides, both former owners and current all have said bottom end. I'm not a kawi owner. 4 suzies. What's the deal? Is that an issue still?

This bike does not have cats/cat anymore correct? A 7hp gain in 9 years? Actually these bikes were so damn fast 9 years ago I’m not surprised. I have a 2014 ZX10R derestricted with a brake kit. 189hp at the wheel and btw the speedo reads 196 at top speed gear limited, the speed nor the bike is stuck at 186.

They also like for each new year to make a little more power than last years. Pretty easy this way if they can just give it a bit more throttle and suddenly it’s got 5hp more.

Nice work Chris. Help me out with the O2 sensor delete? What happens to air/ratio when you ride at elevation? Say 3-4’k. Isn’t that what the O2 sensor is for?

The O2 is only there for idle and light cruising loads. Basically just for mileage and emissions. Without it you’re just running on the base fuel map all the time. Does mean it won’t compensate for elevation, but if it’s a problem they can change the tune and sort it out.

The O2 sensor does not monitor altitude. The Efi system has a separate baro sensor that monitors air density & will compensate accordingly, offsetting the existing values in the ECU fuel maps

So when you do a top speed run you don't blow it up they do same in Germany for autobahn cars... it depends on the country/spec you get. Canadian spec are least restricted in the older 10rs they are gear limited not top speed limited.

Technical question: When you adjust (derestrict) the throttle position to go 1:1 , does the ecu automatically adjust the fueling for the new throttle positions or do you have to do that manually? Thanks, love the videos!!

Ecu will do it automatically i guess,because the fueling will be based on 02 sensor..

The fuel map is still going to be the same. They’re just reprogramming the drive by wire throttle so the ECM actually follows what the throttle input is.

Forgive my ignorance, to be more specific, I was just curious how the factory open loop fuel maps, without result feedback to the ecu, would know exactly how much fuel to send for the new air/load values. For example, if the stock ecu fueling is set specifically for 60% throttle worth of air @ 10k in 5th, and now you introduce 100% throttle worth of air, how does the ecu know exactly how much fuel to add without a dyno tune with a sniffer down the pipe or a wideband closed loop system installed (autotune or sorts) to read and adjust the new air/throttle being introduced at the new rpms and loads?

umm just as a general question. mebe noobish. but i had a ecu flash a year ago on my grom and am satisfied with the performance but i did not reset the ecu. i assume the ecu is set to the climate/altitude of the flasher. should i go ahead and reset the ecu?

My dyno tuner had a zx10 in a few days before my H2 was tuned on his dyno. .My stage 3 FBO H2 put out 30% more HP than the zx10 at 50% throttle.. I am currently running 273RWHP on 91 octane and 318RWHP on E85. so HP record for a zx10 maybe

@@dustinjoel6213 a stock H2 will put down about 190-205RWHP.. I love both bikes.. but FBO H2 will bend your mind and kind of ruined me for a lot of other bikes. They are so much fun to ride. Yea.. will get spanked by a zx10r and most super sports bikes on a track. but on the roads and twisties.. they are a ton of fun to ride. just cant get to WOT till 4th. 1-3rd is the no go zone for more than 50% throttle but its a lot more ridable than people would think.

Now that is a scary fast motorcycle😳😱,I don't really like what u do with the heat cycling thing, but you surely know what u are doing,maybe that helps with the big hp gains,I'm not a big Kawa fan, zx10r's always scared the shit out of me,but it's a different animal right now, hope the owner enjoys this beast

You can with all dog box transmissions. Just give shifter a little pressure before you roll off throttle and fully click to next gear and it’s smooth as butter.

With a lot of the newer bikes they come with a quick shifter that cuts the ignition so you can shift at full throttle without the clutch. Would be in the specs for the bike.

What purpose do the manufacturers have to restrict their bikes the way they do from the factory? I understand having a conservative redline is for safety. And the off throttle fuel cut is probably to increase mpg? By why do they tune it so the power falls off so hard at the last 1000rpm usually? And why do they usually set them so the throttle plates don’t open when you tell them to? These are all things I never realized until watching these videos. Is it all in the name of safety/emissions/cost effectiveness? Seems like some of these things are really goofy, but I’m sure they have their reasons, right?

Several. First is emissions standards. Second is all around drivability, Third, is longevity to not be making expensive engine swaps under warranty. Fourth is to meet EU regulatory requirements of licensing classes. Race bikes come with no warranty for a reason. To suit the needs of most people, designing an engine and limiting it to 90% of potential power makes sense from a drivability and durability standpoint. These bikes are amazing as is and this type of dyno tuning is only necessary for the avid enthusiast. I would say the average XZ-10R rider probably thinks his bike is fast enough.
