Although there are very few patterns used at Worcester that have direct Chinese design counterparts, the Worcester enamellers let their imaginations run riot with their own perceived imaginary views of the land of China.
Chinese-influenced English designs and decoration had become the zenith of fashion within the aristocratic and mercantile class of the day, this is known as Chinoiserie.
Paul Crane is a consultant for the Brian Haughton Gallery in London, a Trustee of the Museum of Royal Worcester and a direct descendant of the founder of Worcester porcelain manufacture Dr Wall.
