We got this coin from a customer who was quite ashamed at getting fooled. in this video: pocket pinger neodymium magnet scale calipers sigma metalytics pro pingcoin app Visit our website to purchase real gold/silver www.defythegrid.com
Yes! We have a lot of smart buyers who buy 1-2 rounds first, then back up the truck on the 2nd or 3rd shot. Personally I think that dollar cost averaging is the best way to buy.
So many customers ask if we would accept a few bucks less than our asking price. Our response: If you get that price somewhere else, you'd know it's a fake.
That’s why I didn’t buy any for so long. I didn’t trust any company unless I knew a smart person who knew fakes from real bought from them. It took forever to find someone I thought was competent to answer that. Finally bought from SD but because they had some stupendously rude Filipino CS jerk on the phone, I kept looking. Finally found monument. And they were efficient, convenient, and no nonsense.
Interesting. My old girlfriend had a hundred dollar bill that looked super duper real. I brought it to my bank and asked them if it was real and they said it was fake and of course they kept it. Neither me or old girlfriend made it, but I was kinda worried about carrying it to bank and what they would do.
Always listen for the distinctive clang silver coins make when dropped on the table. Its an easy and reliable test. Multiple testing methods are always valuable, of course.
I’ve seen silver advertised cheap online and then when you read the fine print, it says that it’s silver plated. Not sure if that’s what happened to this person but if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
I found a couple from 2023 they are copper with Tungsten with a thick layer of actual silver over them. If you take a pair of nippers to them you can peel the layer of silver off.
.I can tell it's fake on my crappy little phone. There is no luster. The color is off. The reliefs are soft. And based on the way he is flipping it around in his hands, it is probably not as heavy as it should be.
You can check the density of your coin using a glass of water. Anything around 10.5 should be good. This method is a bit tricky for smaller coins like denarii.
I thought that you was going to cut it in half to see what is inside it is it just silver plated or is it an alloy part silver part steel could be anything ???
So much for the missing reed that cost the mint millions of dollars to developed. Definitely worth the money compared to the security system on the Leafs and Britannias.
I subbed, but I need you to do something for me....fix your audio. There are several free options for video editing, and you can adjust the volume there, always cheat high, it's better for the viewer to need to turn the volume down than it is to crank it to max to still barely hear you. Good video otherwise
Amazon. Good search term "neodymium magnet". They're awesome for testing metals. Please note that silver and copper react the same to magnets. I wouldn't rely on it, but if it sticks, it's an automatic fake.
I have many thousands of ounces in silver that I purchased over the years from reputable dealers such as SD Bullion, Hard Asset and JM Bullion. I do not buy Silver Eagles because of the high premiums. That is my choice and I am not trying to make a statement one way or the other. My point is this, concerning the fake coin. If the American Silver Eagle is considered U.S. legal tender, why is this not being investigated by the Secret Service as a counterfeit coin and put these pukes in prison?
try to only buy your silver in person, from legitimate shops. i have bought plenty of coins online but you really need to be careful with eagles. hold off on these "great deals"
Yup - the font on that coin screams it's NOT genuine...but I have seen some others on line that are REEEEALLY CLOSE to the genuine article and faked me out on the screen...I didn't buy any because I suspected something was "off"...but I just can't define it. Be VERY careful out there folks...the forgers are not only busy - some of them are scary talented !?!?!
A strip of duct tape holds it nice then you hit it with a wood dowel it should ring ..if it clanks or makes a wierd sound it's fake. The silver coating is vibrating on the tungsten core
Ping test best used with ping test app..absolute test specific gravity ..you can't cheat neither one magnet is good also weight good also also best when buying reputable sellers unless you know how to test ..don't take the chance and go thru the trouble of having to return ..
I would never buy online unless it is from a reputable dealer. Too many fakes out there and probably more and more will emerge now that the prices of precious metals have gone up this much.
Buy from reputable companies, only. If the price is too good to be true, chances are it is. Don't try to get rich or greedy. Buy spot price from a reputable company.
Last year I bought the buy 3 get 2 free. I have been collecting for some time so it’s not like I wasn’t aware of fakes. There are add after add on Facebook. None of them weighed 31.103. They weighed between 28.39-28.65. ☹️ I just did the magnet test, it stuck to it like it was IRON. I’m glad I didn’t buy 100.
We sure are. Got started in 2020 and couldn't stand hearing all the stories of people losing to fakes. We are small, but we try to compete with the big guys online. www.defythegrid.com
@defythegrid9577 thats sad that someone would buy those eagles in the first place ,I know you bought it to warn people but we have to stop people from buying this crap actually it's against the law for anyone to sell a replica of a eagle without they word copy on it, where is the treasury department trying to stop these Chinese counterfeits, it's just sad people have to learn to buy from repertable dealers and even then you might get a fake or 2. Good job guys keep warning people the Chinese are counterfeiting everything
Why the F- are people buying 100 random eagles off 1 the internet and 2 some random ass website. I know it’s hard but don’t get scammed by buying in person. This is so stupid that people get scammed like this , I’m starting to think I should change jobs …
Some are very trusting. Things like this toughen up people. When I was a freshman in college, I was pretty naive. I was seling a motorcycle online, a guy contacted me asking if he'd be able to buy a part off of my motorcycle. I made a deal and said yes, but instead of buying it, I'd trade a carb cleaning for it. Well... He never came back to give me my carb... I learned a valuable lesson that day about trusting someone you don't know.
My 2023s look like the real one you show but are definitely magnetic. You said mail it to you. I can’t find an address. You should be able to send me an email. Da’ you did. Still need address.😮
The missing read is not about the art of counterfeiters leaving it off. It’s about the LOCATION of the missing read. Every year the missing read is moved to a new place which could help identify counterfeit coins.
Come on... be real. The "customer" got scammed searching for a "good deal" It was likely even sold as a "replica". I have to be honest and say, I assume the "customer" is being as deceptive as the seller.
We've seen customers get scammed by others, and they still try to pass the coin or bar off to a dealer as if it was real. They did this multiple times with different dealers in the valley.
Some people love living on the edge I guess. We've tried to buy fake wholesale coins to see how people do it. It was incredibly hard to do. The factory in china wouldn't do it unless you provided a file showing the design you wanted. It's a very deliberate thing to do.
AND test them yourself too. I know some dealers that only use the sigma to test. Another video of ours shows a fake faking out a sigma pro... Those dealers could put it in circulation again unknowingly.
