2024-10-08 Brent Byall Family Farm - The 2024 Soybean Harvest - Brent and I worked on his John Deere 4425 combine getting it ready for harvest this year. Then I took a ride with him while he was in the heart of the soybean harvest to see how he was getting along and how the repairs were holding up. During that visit I took some time to take some of these pictures and videos. While riding with Brent he stated how they didn't have hardly any images of the farming operation while his dad was living and they farmed together. So I wanted to create this little video for him and his family so that he could look back on the memories of his turn at farming. Brent farms in a simple manner. He's very patient, drives the combine himself, the farm is small enough he doesn't us a grain cart or have multiple people transporting his grain. He empties his combine grain tank at the end of the field in his fire engine red International Harvester Loadstar truck just like we all did years ago when our farms and equipment were not as large as they are today and we would empty them into trucks and/or hopper wagons. After Brent has filled the truck he shuts the John Deere down, climbs down out of the cab and climbs back up into the truck and heads to the mill to empty another load of beans, ever hoping the selling price will start to increase again so that he will have the funds to start all over again next year with a new crop.
