Pluto definitely shouldve won an award of sorts. I've been obsessing and watching every Astro Boy verison, and Pluto has by far made me love the story even mote. Even got a tattoo of Astro Boy/Atom last month. I dont get why the anime didnt get even more recognition since the manga is fantastic.

Why does everyone have to put a label/category on things. I get that it's capitalising on the controversy of year end award shows but just make a list of best anime of 2023, list reasons (maybe add ratings) and be done. There is no definitive "best" of any category, and so many could be called a mix of genres (like comedy, romance and slice of life overlap a lot, just like action and animation - animation quality does not have to be about action)
