Let’s get this out of the way. The 2024 BMW i5 M60 is not an electric M5 nor is it trying to be. The M60 instead is an electric take on the M550i formula: Loads of power, loads of luxury, and loads of comfort all with a ristretto shot of athleticism. But is the 5 series formula any good as an EV? Highs:

Lows:
-The Black M Veganza Alcantara material feels good and visually looks unique though $3,000 extra for leather is a bit extreme.
-Range is lower than average for the class and with the constant urge to hear Hanz Zimmer’s iconic sounds and use Boost mode, those electrons can deplete fast.
-Even in the lowest setting, the seats felt a bit too high up for a BMW. (Likely due to battery under the floor)

The I5 M60 is a fun experience once acclimated to its technology, and (personally) it looks gorgeous. Though that range needs to be improved for wider appreciation.
