Thanks for noting that! I clearly whiffed the 3rd row point. When researching BMWs, it's often difficult to find all the specs using American media and consumer assets. So, I'll research the global media site as well. According to BMW, the xDrive40i is offered with a 3rd row option...but apparently not in the USA. I appreciate you chiming in!
@@murraykroucamp1885 Murray!! I appreciate you sharing such a lovely comment. And how cool that our little family videos from California are appreciated in South Africa. Cheers!!
Any and all BMW M vehicles feel firm because they tighten the chaises and put on large wheels with thin sidewall tires. People who want a high performance car they can track will put up with that, but most people would probably be better off with a lower trim of X5 that blends performance and comfort in a more balanced way.
Just bought a 2025 pretty loaded, the reverse system you showed will actually work on the app when you’re OUTSIDE the vehicle! It’s insane. And the Drivers Assist Pro package with that adaptive cruise does work well, up to 85 mpg on most highways hands free and the lane change recommendation works when you have a destination inputted. It’s almost too smart.
The fact the base B58 mild hybrid can propel the 4900lb X5 to 60 in 5.3 seconds is pretty crazy. That is already quick for such a large SUV. My 2017 X3 xDrive35i with the N55 3.0l also does 0-60 in 5.3 at 4200 lbs and feels way less fun and sporty than my slower 330ci ZHP that will do 5.5. The extra weight and height of the driving position saps so much enjoyment out of the driving experience that I never really drive the X3 in a sporty manner even when it is very capable. I do love the extra cargo capacity and practicality though.
I have the phev that has 40 miles of range ev and recharges with driving very well , also it has … 483 hp 500 plus lbft of torque and the adaptive air suspension is standard so sport plus mode drops the car hardens the dampers and you just power slide all four wheels through tight mountain turns scratching your head going how’d I do that just now 😅 Got a great deal it’s normally with the tech pack 75k got it for 67… 😊
Why? If you don’t like one of the top five most powerful SUV’s in the world, for speed, torque and drive quality, then get a slower V6, which is a disappointment compared to the M competition. It’s a true M and a competition on top of that. It’s a super SUV. I love mine.
Thanks for weighing on on the AI songs. I know some folks dislike artificially create music but I'm with you, they are hilarious. :) And, for the record, I'm a huge proponent of human created music too, which is why all the other music you hear in our videos was written by me. Cheers!!
Wow. Spend nearly $150k and STILL have to spend $250 for a spare tire 😂😂 why do we as consumers fall for this bull plop (not using the ‘s’ word because of kiddo!)
The X5 is just too expensive now. I prefer the PHev X5xDrive 50e, but it costs $90k fully loaded. I hate the screens with no buttons as well as the new headlight; it looks like a 2 series, the same issue with the new 5 series.
I just drove the X5 Competition and X5 M50i back to back. I found the seats in the Competition just not for me. The M50i was more comfortable paired with the ability to change the drive mode from Sport/Comfort/Eco, for me anyway, it seems to be a great daily driver. The Comp is a beast for sure, but they share the same engine (less HP), but equipped with the Executive package, Driving Assistance Package, Parking Assistance package, Bowers and Wilkens sound...it was awesome!
Ugh 😩 obsessed with that green!! Also kudos to the hideaway storage for the privacy cover and the rear windows going ALL THE WAY DOWN is the chefs kiss! ☺️
I drive a 2016 version. While I appreciate the various updates in subsequent models, I hate the trend of disappearing physical buttons. Excellent review, as always!
The best bang for buck with features IMO is the PHEV version . It takes away all the nonsense that you get with auto start stop. you can remote start and precondition inside a garage. PHEV also has heat pump for AC with electric fans so even stationary car AC cools it down well.
Oh, oh Micah is now in the spoiled boy's club...drivers of this SUV are nuts! One of these X5s almost crashed into me, two days later it destroyed another car and itself.
The colour of this car is very nice. Since this is the M Competition version, it makes me wonder if we'll ever see these cars actually compete in a F1-like or NASCAR-like racing series. It could a revival of the old-fashioned "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" races from the late 1940s to the early 1980s. I like the AI song at the end, BTW. Your AI is100% LESS creepy than all the other stuff get up to in AI! Well done!
The electronic dipsticks are no good!! You can be short by 0.6L (or possibly even more! But for me personally it was 0.6L) and it will still say it’s full!! No good!
The interior looks cheap (compared to a Mercedes interior). A lot of the plastics used look quite cheap. I especially dislike the illuminated red slashes across the dash on the passenger side. The huge radar sensor in the front grill is ugly and distracting.
I own an older BMW and I see they have continued the tradition of over engineering almost everything. Cargo covers and cup holders that require you to consult the manual 🤔 Staggered wheels and so many adjustable settings that make it seem complicated to operate. Definitely most of what you need and would use is found on the base model. Unless you gotta have 50K in options.🤣
