What’s up guys! Here’s my latest 0-60 comparison of all 4 engine options of the 2024 Chevy Silverado! Like, comment, subscribe, and take care! 🙂 Dealer link below… www.twinfalls-...
@@LukeHein-hy8wi lmao that’s for race builds which are being rebuilt regularly. A vehicle you want to last you need to break it in. Not just engine piston ring mating but gears in trans need to mate as well.
Just got out of my Colorado trail boss for a Silverado. The gas mileage on that mid size was horrible. Averaged 14.5, laughable considering my car before was a V8 SS getting 14.5-15.5.
Love the real life 0-60 tests! Appreciate you take altitude and air temp. into consideration, most people ignore it although they're very important factors.
I’m glad you liked it! Density altitude which is a combination of about 4 air quality factors is huge, if it can affect a gas engines performance by over 25% in some extreme conditions of course it needs to be mentioned, IMO. Lol. Thanks for watching! 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208It's strong in the high gears too. Cruising along the highway at 70 mph and just barely lean into the accelerator pedal and it picks up speed without having to downshift.
I wish GM would offer the 3.0 diesel in a low trim. I want a work truck with great fuel milage. I don’t care about bloat ware gadgets. I want a solid inexpensive truck with great fuel milage that has towing capacity and doesn’t eat gas towing.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching a few of my videos!! I really enjoy doing various 0-60 comparisons a couple times a year, especially with the GM trucks.
No, I appreciate that 3.0 diesel trailboss that gets 28 hwy mpg actual real life driving as it sits in my driveway and is cheaper to operate than the 6.2
@@jakesvideos8204 we all in the long run appreciate the 6.2 as it is better, cheaper and if you can't pay for fuel you might consider an EV and let me know how that holds up on resale lol
Great video- Only thing I can knock is the cab/bed configurations being different and the street spec vs trailboss. I feel it'd be a better test to do all crew cabs, all on same tire sizes roughly. Happy to see the diesel is nowhere near as slow as I thought it was.
Thanks! Yeah, I know this test wasn’t exactly apples to apples. But I’m just a regular guy trying to do the best test I could that day, lol. Yeah, the diesels hit hard at full boost/torque, but in typical diesel fashion it’s not a very smooth or linear power band like an NA V8 or supercharged car.
The 2.7 turbomax is a beast. People hear "4 cylinder" and instantly dismiss this engine. Almost as much HP as the other engines, as much towing capacity, tons of low end torque and second quickest 0-60 in the field. Go watch the video that interviews one of the designers/engineers. The L3B is pretty cool.
That’s a killer time!! I just drove a Roush Supercharged 705HP F150 I’ll post soon, density altitude 5,600’ and it only ran a true 5.1 at that elevation lol.
The 6.2 With A Max Tow Package & A 10 Speed Makes You Feel Like A Blueberry Muffin & That's The Reason Why It Is My Favorite Engine & The Axle Ratio Is The 3.42.
Interesting video, thanks for doing this. Are they all 8 speed or 10 speed transmissions or a mix? Assuming that could also impact the results. Also curious if the 2” lift and bigger offroad tires slow down the 5.3 Trailboss you tested a bit compared to the others.
I think a mix of transmissions, although without revisiting the window sticker maybe only the 5.3 and possibly the 2.7 was a 8 speed, as the more premium engines are paired to the 10 speed. You’re absolutely right!! A lifted AT tire trailboss compared to a regular cab street truck isn’t fair, but it was still a fun video to put together, and know we can see a performance range in their best or worse configuration, lol. 😂
@@randycupp5925 amazing how the person that produced this video doesn’t know that. Standard information since the 2022 models were released two years ago.
Lol, you’re absolutely right. It’s been a while since I’ve revisited the Silverado’s to memorize their specs. So many trims and various configurations. But you’re right I should have at least been able to confirm the trans to engine configurations. 🤷♂️😅
Absolutely! I’m glad you’re enjoying it. How many miles have you put on so far? I actually just finished another 0-60 compilation of the Colorado/Canyons… 2.7 HO vs non HO and the last gen 2.8 Diesel and 3.6 V6. I’m excited to make that one public in the near future. 🙂
Right?! Lol. I think if this was at sea level it might win. Or if the testing was the 1/4 mile it’s higher and broader RPM HP plateau probably would have gained by the end!
This explains alot. I was at a stop light in my canyon AT4X and a high country pulled up and kept inching forward. I knew he was going to gun it and try to cut me off. He reved his truck as i didn't. Both hit the gas and i was inching past him. Never thought this 4 banger would keep up with a v8 as it feels slower than my sons nissan frontier. Never timed anything to know for sure
It’s a GPS box you can buy called a Dragy, when I bought mine like 3 years ago I think it was about $150. Then you download the free app that it connects to. I used it a lot on my own before starting my channel and then a couple hundred times with every vehicle o review and it’s held up quite well! 😎
Good question. I’m assuming that’s what the computer thinks is the best RPM to shift at for acceleration, probably to stay in the torque band. 🧐 I’m not as familiar with Diesels and when their tq/hp cross like a gas engine that does at 5252 RPM, but this engine makes way more torque than HP so maybe that’s why.
That's the way GM tuned the transmission for this engine. Probably keeping it in the sweet spot for torque, much like the heavy duty trucks with diesel engines that also don't rev to redline before shifting.
I can’t confirm this as there’s so many variations and it doesn’t seem like Monroney stickers make that detail very evident. I’m assuming they’re all 3.43 or 3.23, whatever is the most common on these current gen trucks… lol 😬😅
My 5.3 GMC Sierra is much faster, we get the single cab normal box in the SLE, Elevation and AT4. Its really quick. Unfortunately they don't offer here the single cab normal bed with the 6.2 V8. Also, im very happy that here we only have the 5.3 V8 or the 6.2 V8, 5.3 is standard
@@Raw_Manifest I'd be curious of the sell vs lease ratio. Still doesn't explain the demographic that's able to go out and crap out $70-90k debt obligation on one. Or even 50-60k on the more mid level trims at the rate that they sell. Assuming its a purchase.
Sadly the 4 banger won’t last as long because most people who have full sized pickups actually work them. The CEO of GM has been making some serious mistakes. Even Warren Beauty sold all of his stock in GM because he knows they’re going to go bust.
Not really. Every aspect of the 2.7 was designed to be overbuilt. These are their bread and butter vehicles... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JLxeBzrhOHQ.html
@@joeandrijeski5085 You’re right, but when the federal government gets tired of bailing them out just like they did with Chrysler over and over, Stellantis will buy them out, just like the majority of Chrysler is now a rebadge FIAT.
It’s the Dragy GPS. The app is free but you have to buy the GPS box. I bought mine almost 3 years ago and it was around ~$150 US I believe. As far as the license plate I’m not sure. I’ve honestly never looked that close when borrowing one for a video.
