Heyy girl! A hair rinse is essentially a semi-permanent hair dye. I've used both the Adore and the Clairol Professionals Beautiful Collection semi-permanent hair dyes. I've used the Darkest Brown shade from Clairol Professionals and the Black Velvet shade from Adore. Both of these products will last about 4-6 washes. I didn't have an issue with colour transferring to my towel or pillows once I fully rinsed out all of the dye, but it takes a LONG time to rinse it all out (I did it over two days). I love a good semi-permanent dye/hair rinse though! It adds a beautiful shine and it won't damage or dry out your locs at all as it only contains a colorant not developer. Jet black would look so good on you!

I finally got microlocs after watching your videos for years. Your videos let me know what to expect as far as maintenance and finding trouble spots. When finally transitioned i wasnt overwhelmed and would watch your washing and interlocking videos when i had to tackle my hair. Very soothing. Thanks again for sharing your journey. It has helped me alot

We started our locs around the same time, I celebrated 5 years 11/3. The growth has been tremendous and it’s still the best hair decision I’ve made.

I celebrated my 3 years locaversary November 2023. I used two strand twist method, a method i learnt from you. So thank you for posting videos focusing on microlocs cause you inspired me or are inspiring other black women to have the courage to try microlocs

I have used the adore and jazzing rinses on my locs for the lint and the little white follicles. The issue is that they only last for a few washes so you will have to keep doing them every few months. Also when your hair is wet, the color can transfer to your pillow case. I did a natural black permnanent dye. It lasted about 5 months but the texture felt dry for about a month afterwards.

I've yet to find a loctician who I feel comfortable around sigh and as a result I've been really slacking on my reties . Hopefully in 2024 I can find a reliable and trained loctician I can go to. Thanks for the update tho ❤ ur like my microlocs big sis so I look forward to these videos. Hoping the new year brings you continued prosperity and joy. Peace and love ✌🏽❤

If you chose a permanent dye I would recommend Crème of nature dye! It’s not as harsh and domes with a maid mask to use after! Also Henna is good option as well Henna sooq is a great site to buy from!

So a hair rinse is temporary, so you'll be doing it more often. But it's way safer. I goggled it. And I found a RU-vid by GlamMzMore "How to do a color rinse on natural hair" I second what the stylist suggested concerning a hair rinse. Seems WAY more healthier. The reason why it is temporary is because it coats the hair and doesn't penetrate so it'll wash out faster. But that's okay when you're wanting to hide away the lint and just add some gloss or vibrancy to the hair. And because your hair is dark already, it should be easy to maintain and do. Happy holidays!

Yes i use Adore Black Velvet.. i love it.. i use that because its not harsh on my locs.. but also i am allergic to the PPD in hair dye.. the only thing with the rinse is 1) It washes out when you shampoo 2) it does get on your pillow cases.. but it does the job for me. More hair❤

I would also recommend rinsing over dying. Dying is soo drying, it changes your hair texture and is prone to breakage because it weakens the hair follicles. Rinsing is a lot safer and you can touch up the roots easily as the color grows out. It’s also better to rinse your hair every 6-4weeks as opposed to dying it every 4-6 weeks… This can thing your locs out causing them to pop off and thin your roots out as well.

You should try black overtone. Its a pigmented conditioner then u can see if you actually like the black and it will rinse out over time b4 you do the permanent dye.

Could you possibly speak to the phases/stages of microlocs? I was soo tempted to comb mine out/cut my hair off last month bc it seemed like my hair was too thick to do anything with (I.e. ponytails, buns, braid outs etc) but after getting it retightened it seemed like the locs dropped and are more flexible. Also if you have any encouragement for staying in the journey ~~ can you speak to times you may have wanted to end your loc journey and why you decide against it? It’d be really nice to just know what to expect as they get longer/fuller - a lot of info is out there for traditional and sisterlocs but I think microlocs miss out on this coverage

My lint problems have started up as well. I used a semi permanent box dye natural black to cover them up but I'm regretting as some of it has washed off so I do need redo it with some permanent dye.

Virgin hair 1B (off black) …I personally suggest you have your stylist do your hair coloring…ijs 🤷🏾‍♀️ All that beautiful work (LOCS) and bleach involved definitely a professional 😉.

So what do you see as the biggest difference/change with your locs in your 5th year? What products are you using now (shampoo, conditioner, oils)? Have you changed your mind about how long you want your hair to grow?

Glad you found a loctician and it’s working for you T! Your locs look amazing! I’ve only been locked a year but does anyone ever feel like their locs look ashy?! 😩 I wash my hair every 10-14 days but I swear a few days after a wash it looks ashy!

Do you use oil? Sometimes that can cause it, hard water, lint etc,and sometimes that’s just the color of your hair. I use jet black rinses for that reason.

@@sls4170 Hi, I don’t use oils, I have no lint. No hard water either. I honestly think it’s just the color of my hair. Thank you!
