I bought a Bolt EV in January, paid an amazingly low price with the federal tax rebate, and feel like I have a secret most people don't know about. The car is quiet, fast, smooth, and with reduced electric rates at night for charging I'm paying about 15% in fuel costs compared to my gas car.
We just bought a Bolt EUV for my wife a couple months ago and feel the same way. Very underrated vehicle, we love it. But it has me itching to replace my Volt with a pure EV!
@@johntenpas70 I was interested in the Volt a few years ago, but finally decided to go full EV, and so glad I did. No gasoline, no oil changes, minimal brake wear - it's an improvement in so many ways.
Let’s see if you can get it to start in the winter when it’s been sitting out in sub-zero temps most of the day. I hope you have an Uber app on your phone.
@@DaveBsellsChevy Yes it is, I am a big Chevy guy, I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 LTZ, And a 2021 Equinox. ... looking at a Blazer EV right now but inventory is slim in Canada right now.
Equinox EV is a great looking vehicle, and that blue LT is sharp with those blue accents on the inside. I'd get blue if I got an LT, and radiant red if I got the RS since that has red interior accents!
Tesla opening up their charging network will help out a lot with the EV sales. I am trading in my 2022 Bolt EUV tomorrow on a Equinox EV LT2. I'm excited for the upgrade.
The dashboard reflection is interesting. I have a Bolt EUV and the reflection of the dash into the driver’s side mirror is so strong as to sometimes making it impossible to use depending on the position of the sun. You’d think the engineers would pay more attention to these issues/distractions.
I'm the travel nurse that commented on your last video about your arms 😂 but love the reviews and I have fallen in love with your state of new jersey, I will definitely take another assignment up this way if one comes along but I'm leaving in the morning to go back to my home state of Georgia
Hey Dave loving that Equinox. As I have just purchased a 22 Bolt EUV I will have to wait. Now that my wife has driven the Bolt a few times now. She is looking to go EV in a few years after her lease is up. She was so anti EV I didn't think I would get the Bolt. Now that we have an EV and I did all the research on EVs she is coming around and is eying the Equinox EV as her next vehicle. Keep up the great content Dave.
Great video. We have a 2017 Volt and a 2019 Bolt. Considering replacing the Volt and I'd like to go compare the Equinox and Blazer EVs. Not sure what we'd get if we replace the Volt. Having one PHEV and an EV works well.
Our family just leased 3 EV's from Nissan. Each are 24 month leases with $0 down. The monthly payments are $58, $185, and 199. That is great for a $40K-50K vehicle. I like the Equinox EV. Colorado makes leasing an EV so inexpensive with $15K in tax credits.
Holy shittttttt 0 downnn???? With 58 a month and 185 and 199 damnnnn so like actually no due at signing??? I got a Caddilac lyric tech rwd with driver assist pckg for 24month/12k miles per year for $299 a month but with $3000 due at signing including all fees (no tax in nj) thought I got a insane deal but now looking at yours not so shore 😅😂😂
Great article, Thanks. I drove two Equinox EV’s and loved them. So quiet, smooth and the one pedal driving was fantastic. Both of them were FWD and though they had adequate power, I wish it had a little more without having to go to the AWD. The Equinox chassis is the same as the Blazer, Chevrolet should offer the same power train. I told the salesman if I ordered the 3RS AWD red tint coat with the red and black interior, how long would it take to get ?, he said 3 or 4 months. Why so long? It seems to me that Chevrolet came out with just a few of these but they were not prepared for mass production. Congratulations to the new owner of the blue one, I know they will love it.
I am curious how many checked luggage style suitcases fit in the Equinox EV. I know I can fit 3 in the back of my Bolt EUV, and perhaps one in the middle of the backseat of a Bolt EUV. I'm just wondering if all 4 can fit in the back of the Equinox EV since it has the longer trunk area. If anybody has an Equinox EV and is bored and wants to try it, it might be worth seeing. I'm just thinking of the scenario where 4 people drive to the airport and they each have their own large suitcase. The 62 inch or under suitcases.
I was surprised at how high the cup holder/center console sits. Feels very much like a Ford pickup. Overall, I am incredibly impressed with the feel of the materials in the cabin. That glare on the windshield from the textured panel on the dash may be problematic. Thanks for pointing that out as the one I say in was in the showroom so they could highlight the ambient lighting.
Is there a toggle to disable the three (excluding the driver side door) door handles? My wife would not want those three door handles available for just anyone to access in a parking lot.
A reflection of the top of the instrument panel is the result of a severely sloped windshield (designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency). This reflection will happen regardless of the make and model.
If you’re looking for content to make, I’d love to see a back-to-back comparison of rear seat space with a rearward facing baby seat. Equinox EV vs. Blazer EV. Blazer EV seems huge, I’m curious if one fits in an Equinox EV with no compromises too.
So, it's been mentioned and said that all trims don't have a wireless phone charger? And I don't see a 12v front console outlet either. My sales guy said an EV wouldn't benefit me as I don't do a ton of driving, but did say he'd sell me one if I really wanted it...lol. I'm also keeping an eye on the 2025 Equinox as well.
Hi Dave, so i just reserved a equinox 2rs summit white, and i was asking the finance manager about putting a big down payment(so my payments will be low) and he was saying that there is a cap on how much money i can put down, is that true?
If the current Bolt EV can get retro upgraded to this tech in say next 3-5 years that would be awesome too! I know the Ultium Bolts are coming back in a couple of years but man....imagine the current Bolt charging at 150kw😎
Any money lost in depreciation will be made back in fuel costs savings within the first 3-4 years of ownership. You can tell your anti-EV trolls are politically driven because you don’t operate based upon facts. You’re just here to push a narrative despite how far from reality it may be.
They will compete no different than the gas ones do. Equinox is lower price and more popular... Blazer buyers tend to want something sportier looking and larger
I have three issues with the Equinox EV One: It does not come with a heads up display Two the dirver and passenger side mirrors I feel are two small Three: When I went on a test drive in the DFW area I felt like when I stepped on the gas peddle I felt like there was a delay vs other electric cars I would love to get an Equinox ev but i am wanting it to have a heads up display and the nacs charge port.
Most people interested in EV’s are us younger generations. Who are the people that will be buying cars longer? Younger generations. EV’s aren’t going anywhere lol
Not true my dad also oj the edge of electric cars and didn’t want it he’s 69)until I came across the most insane lease deal on a Caddilac lyric so he ended up getting it he usually leases a honda or Toyota most recently had a pilot se and I can safely say he loves it and the price‼️‼️‼️‼️
You mentioned the blazer ev power door charge port potentially breaking but couldn't you say the same thing about the equinox's power door handles?? Lol
Love the stylings of the Equinox EV overall. Not a huge fan of the retracting door handles, as snow & ice storms in the midwest aren't uncommon during the winter. As far as the dash reflections, I had a very similar problem with a previous vehicle. A carpeted Dashboard Cover solved it pretty easily, though it is slightly annoying that you have to do something aftermarket to address the issue.
From GM Authority: In a rather unusual design choice by GM, the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV crossover does not include a smartphone charger as either a standard feature or an option on any trim level or model.
To be fair, every built-in wireless charger I've ever used in any vehicle acts more as a heating pad & battery killer than a charger, so it's not a huge loss.
@@NSZachP I use mine (2021 Equinox) all of the time. However, with Chevrolet going away from Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and using built-in alternatives, I could see less need for wireless charging. Plus, many 3rp party car mounts have wireless charging capabilities. Still, it seems as though there is no need to exclude the option. It's another step backwards for GM in my opinion.
Not sure if I missed it later in the video, but did you find a setting for one pedal mode in reverse? I love one pedal mode in my EUV, but admit it would be kind of interesting if it was disabled when reversing.
@@andrewandron7087 I just looked on the Chevrolet website for the specs and the gas version is 183.10 inches long and the EV is 190.55 inches long. I had to check because it sure doesn't look like it.
@@DaveBsellsChevy Nooo...too many others do that, it's like doomsday if you believe them. I would like more in depth video's of you touring the dealership like the service center and what steps you take to get a car ready, etc. don't see too many of those. I'm just tired of EV's being pushed everywhere.
@@DaveBsellsChevy not an EV guy, I love the seasonal notice from Peco saying with the hot weather, AC's are taxing the grid, yet society wants us to go all electric.
Hey Dave just wondering how did you fit in that C6 corvette you had? You said your 6 foot 5 inches. I’m 6 foot 3. I’d like to get myself a C5 or C6 eventually, but am concerned with fitment and if I’d be cramped. It would be a weekend toy car for me.
I don't like the swinging door handles on the Equinox EV. I've had to deal with a lot of brittle plastic on my older cars, I bet they're going to be a common point of failure. Looking at the new Traverse with a lot of interest 👀 Love Super Cruise! Hope it comes to the new Duramax Tahoe.
I think the 1LT is going to sell like hot cakes when it does hit the lots. I hope dealerships don't take on $2k-$5k. Here in VA, the 3 places have done that.
I think this looks like a great car, I’m just afraid of how these cars will age. No only the battery, but all the interior gadgets. I could see massive repair bills 10, or 15 years down the line if any of those screens start to fail etc. Not to mention the battery repairs. Although hopefully 10-15 years from now we’ll advance to actually fixing internal battery issues, rather than the current fix, which is just to replace the entire battery when there is something wrong with it.
Don’t let that fear stop you-it’s a fantom fear. EVs have been know to last much longer than gas cars. When you get one, you’ll wonder why you hesitated and why you listened to any propaganda spread by money interests and ignorant people.
@@JimFantazzia all people have to do is have an open mind to see how it actually works. Will still read texts, Waze, spotify, etc still work. Also, one plus is the camera will still work for facetime where as with CarPlay it doesnt
Chevy needs to fire whoever is lead designer for EVs. They are all so ugly! Probably why they're EV number goals have been halved. No one wants them because of how they look!
I have bought nothing but GM a since the early 1980’s. I had a Ford but quit them due to a bad dealer experience. Later, I got a GM employee discount through relatives but that ended when my sister passed last year. I generally have good experiences with GM dealers and if not, I go to another as there are several within driving distance. I may get an EV when my Blazer lease is up next year. I am thinking Blazer EV, Equinox EV or Tesla Model 3 or Y.
Govt forcing EV sales was a big mistake. Public is not interested.. 6 months from. Low 50% of new price. Absolute catastrophe for automakers. Losing Billions upon Billions in EV production..
True. Even Rivian has halted plans to build a 5 Billion dollar, 1800 acre facility in Georgia. I say "halted" because if they had completely cancelled it, they would be at least partially responsible for millions in unrealized tax breaks they were given to build at that location. Hopefully Chevrolet will do better and plan better. Elon Musk warned these EV manufacturers years ago about proceeding with caution and few of them listened.
No one is forcing you to buy anything. He just told you you can buy a gasoline powered equinox. Tesla stock is $180 right now……. So…… just keep bitching
You guys keep drinking the Cool-Aid on these EV’s. Again, If the Govt is not paying you to drive them you wil not get one. That is the bottom line. Enough said. Wake up!
